  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 26, 2015 -> 10:28 PM) Sox fans=Not fooled by snazzy marketing campaigns One thing matters. First place, and looking like you can make a legit run into the post-season. Didn't work in 2012.
  2. QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Apr 2, 2015 -> 02:01 PM) They still are paying for them. Not pepsi or miller, or any other sponsor. Yes but they probbly already had 10k tickets sold for these games, and probably a little more. This promotion isn't going to effect the amount of shirts required.
  3. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Apr 2, 2015 -> 10:13 AM) Stupid f***ing paywall. I got to see 1 picture. Just google New White Sox clubhouse amenities and the search will find the article and get you behind the paywall.
  4. QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Apr 1, 2015 -> 05:58 PM) If that was the case, they'd paper ( comp) the joint. The rent can't exceed 3 million. So "suppressing " attendance to save a million dollars is half ass backwards. Especially considering that this offer is good on free shirt mondays, a giveaway that has no sponsor. Meaning te sox are paying for the shirts. This is to draw in extra revenue and make the park look fuller on TV. Do you think they LIKE being #27 out of 30 teams in attendance? You think they like getting s*** offers for sponsorship? The sox have the BEST stadium deal in MLB. They can swallow the additional rent payment just on konerko night's beer sales. Isn't free t shirt Monday capped at 10k shirts? They probably pay about $1 each for those. A friend of mine used to sell bootleg concert t shirts. It used to cost him $0.80 each to produce, and he wasn't doing anywhere near 10k in volume.
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 1, 2015 -> 11:47 AM) And what day did I say that? I'm guessing it was in October. Probably it came before they added LaRoche, Me.Cabrera, Duke, Samardzija, Soto, Beckham (pushed them over the top and past KC), Bonifacio, Rodon (to active roster), Crain, Albers, etc. If the White Sox came back with the same team as ended 2014, yeah....2015 would have been over. But what's your point, exactly? That I should have gotten out a magic 8 ball and envisioned last October what Hahn was going to do this offseason...because I'm sure there are posts all over SoxTalk with you predicting/projecting exactly what has transpired, right? Now you're just picking fights because you have nothing better to do with yourself, it seems. The point is you must think Finnegan and Duffy are at the top of their position if the season is over because of them. And then you run this list. They aren't on the list, and you don't even support them on the list. I think that's a little odd. And it wasn't October.
  6. QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Mar 31, 2015 -> 09:40 PM) Wow. My favorite part was when he included "other scouts" and then went on to sing the praises. If he does what he's capable of this season, we're looking at a potentially deep playoff run with our SP. Yesterday, except for the bomb of a HR, the Dodgers hardly touched him, and he wasn't throwing his slider. Just his fastball and change he is working on. If he stays healthy, Sale might not be the ace in a couple of years.
  7. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 1, 2015 -> 10:55 AM) Finnegan's going to start in the minors (probably AA), just like Rodon. Duffy will be fine. What about the April Fool's Day joke? You really wanted to believe it, didn't you? Reality check, I certainly would rather have Duffy and pay him $650,000 than pay John Danks 20 times that...but maybe you'd still prefer Danksie. That's not the point. You basically said 2015 was over for the Sox because KC has Finnegan and Duffy. Have you changed your mind?
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 1, 2015 -> 10:43 AM) http://m.mlb.com/news/article/115705826/wh...n-in-al-central SOX, Ramirez and Sale (over Kluber). Cabrera (over Abreu), Kinsler (over Dozier), Plouffe (3B, most competitive/open field), M.Brantley (over Gordon), JD Martinez, Yan Gomes (over Perez), Lorenzo Cain, Victor Martinez, Holland/Escobar/Davis KC bullpen 4 Tigers, 2 Indians, 1 Twin, 2 Royals, 2 White Sox Should have mentioned Robertson and Melky as being in the running at least...and Avisail, as RF seems pretty weak. What about Finnegan and Duffy?
  9. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Mar 31, 2015 -> 11:46 PM) Ha, I think it's more like "silly JR". I'm sure he had a role in Beckham's return the guy for whatever reason is a beloved figure it seems. Even Hahn's comments about him seemed a little too fawning for my taste but they were imo influenced by his boss. That said this is a coaching point and that's if you are telling guys like Sanchez and Micah "spring matters" but it doesn't matter for a .5 WAR vet, well, I dunno, guess they are all pros and at the end of the day they probably get it. I just don't think it's the best look and ya know there's that whole "haven't developed a single position player worth a damn since ____" thing. Then how do you explain Bonifacio?
  10. QUOTE (Dunt @ Mar 31, 2015 -> 11:07 AM) I feel like Soto will only start on the days where there is a pitcher with a good pickoff move Soto threw out 3 of 4 would be basestealers yesterday, and if Alexei didn't fan on a tag, it would have been 4 of 4. He isn't bad throwing oit guys despite his ugly tosses back to the pitcher.
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 31, 2015 -> 09:06 AM) The pitch or the package must have sucked. He would have been a good hire. Supposedly, Hurley did not turn down a DePaul offer.
  12. QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Mar 30, 2015 -> 11:04 AM) Do you honestly think that there was nothing in between them and leitao? You really think that was the very best they could do? C'mon now. There was a chance to at least bring a little buzz to the program and ponsetto continues her streak of making the worst possible decisions she can. Anyways, doesn't matter. Being a DePaul fan has been like being in an abusive relationship. No use in even trying to be optimistic that it'll ever get any better after all this s*** so I'm done for the foreseeable future. I agree. A totally uninspiring hire. If Hurley and Drew both said no go to the next young guy on the list.
  13. I think it was Johnson's job to lose, and he really hasn't done anything to lose it. Sanchez has nice offensive numbers but according to BR, he is facing AA quality pitching while Micah is facing AAA. I think they ket Micah fail in Chicago before turning it over to Sanchez.
  14. I hope Montas doesn't turn into Cleto.
  15. QUOTE (kev211 @ Mar 28, 2015 -> 01:28 PM) Why would you sign a massive contract with a team before feeling them out? Obviously that's an advantage you have, he can't do that this offseason with teams . But he can make sure he doesn't get stuck in a disaster or a place he doesn't like for 6 years right now. Might as well take that time. So you do realize if he signs with anyome but the Cubs, A's, or White Sox, that is exactly what he is going to do. Getting to free agency maximizes the dollars.he already said he will NOT negotiate during the season. No one should kid themselves, he is looking to get paid. If he grew up a Sox fan, he knows signing with the White Sox isn't a total disaster.
  16. Red Line, Green Line, Metra all stop by USCF, and the Sox have more parking spots per fan in the stands than anyone. People have complained before that the Sox needed to get rid of some lots and have bars and restaurants built. If there is anything to complain about, it will be the lack of direction in the lots after the game. Hope you get an easy out or it is going to be a while.
  17. In 2000 Schueler picked up Charles Johnson mid-season. He was awesome for the Sox.
  18. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 03:23 PM) How does the old saying go? Maybe Coop can fix him? Hasn't he had several injuries? He was like a top 20 prospect 4 or 5 years ago.
  19. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 03:19 PM) White Sox claim Kyle Drabek off of waivers. Put Nate Jones on the 60-day disabled list to create 40-man space https://twitter.com/scottmerkin/status/581550560765054976 He used to be a nice prospect.
  20. QUOTE (shipps @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 03:14 PM) ***shipps rolls eyes*** God will tell DRose when he is ready. It's worked well the past few years.
  21. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 03:06 PM) Its ironic you say that since two of those guys were platooned for the most part (Sierra/De Aza and Dunn/Paulie). Without much effectiveness.
  22. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 02:44 PM) Meh. I actually like a Gillaspie / Bonafacio platoon. I realize that it is more likely to be Beckham, but really the SOX could do much worse. Connor has been very solid against RHP. I honestly wish the SOX would have employed more platoons over the years...they've generally avoided them. When your bench is Nieto, Leury, Sierra, and Paulie, platoons are kind of tough.
  23. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 02:42 PM) Yep. And I'm perfectly okay with that. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they picked him, but the drillrod description above, just from interviews which is cherry picking, does seem appropriate. If he blew off Rongey, that ain't right.
  24. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 02:40 PM) Wasn't Donaldson traded before the trade though? Probably, but Hahn had been talking to Beane for quite some time.
