  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 9, 2015 -> 01:36 PM) 14 pitches in 2 innings I can't see the game, but as long as they are swinging at strikes and pitches they can handle, not going deep in counts is no big deal.
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 9, 2015 -> 01:30 PM) Yeah his rosters have sucked but it's also been very bad baseball defined by very few winning streaks to get excited about. Chicken and egg thing. You can't blame Robin for bad players. The White Sox were bad when Ozzie had bad players too. What I don't understand is if the Sox lose, it's Robin's fault. If the offense doesn't score, it is whoever the hitting coach's fault, but if the Sox give up 18 runs in 17 innings, it has nothing to do with Coop.
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 9, 2015 -> 01:22 PM) So we're going to have one example to hold onto....the wildly-improbable "Winning Ugly" season. 7 games behind in the standings at 25-30 on June 10th. Went on a 21-12 streak to get to 46-42 and first place on July 18th. Finished 99-63 (same as 2005), on a 53-21 stretch, or, to extend it even further, 74-33. No. First off you moved the goalposts and said 0-3 when this team is 0-2. But anything to whine like a White Sox fan, and then made it seem like anytime they made the playoffs they started out 15-0. It's just not the case.
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 9, 2015 -> 01:04 PM) How many White Sox playoff teams in history started out 0-3? They are currently 0-2, The 1983 White Sox started out 0-3. The 1993 White Sox started out 2-3 with 2 blowout losses. The 1994 White Sox who supposedly would have won the WS started 0-2 and 1-3 The 2000 White Sox started out 0-2 The 2008 White Sox started out 0-2 So pretty much most of the White Sox playoff calibur teams the last 100 years got off to slow starts. Get a grip.
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 9, 2015 -> 01:04 PM) How many White Sox playoff teams in history started out 0-3? It's the nature of this fanbase to be skeptical/pessimistic. Doubting Thomases, fine...maybe we belong in the "Show Me" State instead. Royals' fans were almost identical, having had to wait nearly 30 years between playoff appearances. You saw the same thing with Indians and Pirates fans after those teams were torn down and had to be built back up again. If anything, we're probably closest to the Mariners...with the obvious exception of having won a World Series, which actually has caused some of the fans to tune out, those waiting for the first, like the legions of Cubbies fans whose hope springs eternal with each spring. They touched Duffy up for 5 runs with the likes of Beckham and Flowers in the line up. That has to be worth something to you, doesn't it?
  6. KC started out 0-2 last year. The Angels started out 1-3. Baltimore started out 1-4. They all made the playoffs. This season is ova.
  7. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 9, 2015 -> 12:57 PM) Opening Week excitement + high expectations + two rough losses = negativity I guess it's really just a disappointing start to a season with such high expectations, so I can see why there's so much negativity and pessimism It's 2 games. White Sox fans like to complain.
  8. How can Sox fans be so pessimistic after 2 freaking games? Everyone loses a couple games in a row.

    QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 8, 2015 -> 10:58 PM) Season. Over. Yep.
  10. I just noticed Soxtalk has now passed WSI in total posts.
  11. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Apr 9, 2015 -> 08:27 AM) I never realized how good Danks has been against the Royals. Hope he keeps it up today. And as good as Danks has been against them, Q has been bad. Last night's performance should not have been too surprising. No need to panic. Yet.
  12. It's up to Danks to stop the bleeding. 17 runs allowed in 16 innings isn't going to get you many victories.
  13. Adrian Gonzalez has 5 homers already. They are all solo shots. He's 10-13 to start the season.
  14. Always get a kick out of the Robin bashers after a loss. Especially when a couple guys he had in the line up, according to the managers here, shouldn't have been in the line up if he had a brain, and they were respomsible offensively for 4 runs.
  15. DRose with 6 3 pt attempts in 19 minutes. He made 1.
  16. 3 runs scored. LaRoche vs. a lefty, and Beckham and Flowers. If you had that in Vegas you could have had a big payday.
  17. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 8, 2015 -> 07:30 PM) Not a fan of how Flowers sets up behind the plate. Fielding Bible loves it.
  18. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 8, 2015 -> 07:29 PM) . Then again, Robin has the energy of an obese 80 year old so maybe something needs to change. Ridiculous.
  19. Tigers first team since 1995 to throw shutouts in each of their first 2 games. No team that has dome this has eveer made the playoffs.
  20. QUOTE (scs787 @ Apr 8, 2015 -> 03:20 PM) Well they are facing a LHP, so it only makes sense right? I wonder if they're using Sanchez and Beckham over Boni as a continued competition between the 2. I would imagine Bonifacio isn't playing because he has not swung the bat well and his fielding was pretty bad all spring. When Sanchez goes back down, he'll be in there, although I expect him to play the OF a lot.
  21. Brett Lawrie, 0-4, 4 strikeouts, 12 pitches.
  22. I really doubt they throw at Abreu.
  23. I hope Thibs saves some of the 20 minutes for the end of the game. If the Bulls get behind, DRose launching some 3s would be a nice sight.
  24. QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 8, 2015 -> 08:41 AM) Jose has gotten a lot of publicity about how underrated he is. With Danks pitching Thursday, would certainly be nice for Jose to step up and prove his supporters right. would also like to see Soto in the lineup (career vs LHP .285/.376/.482, Flowers .211/.258/.387 vs LHP). In fact, theres really never a time I want to see Flowers in the lineup(.221/.298/.381 vs RHP flowers, as opposed to .233/.317/.418 vs RHP for Soto) Additionally, LaRoche needs to be playing 1b and Abreu DHing probably won't hand the job to Johnson, then sit him down game 2 after an off day, but in limited major league ABs last year, Sanchez vs LHP .364/.382/.485 Don't be worried about Danks. He is to the Royals what Bruce Chen was to the White Sox. It is probably the reason Robin has him pitching instead of Noesi.
  25. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 8, 2015 -> 08:10 AM) Doesn't look like a washout in KC today. Looks like the Sox will actually play the first 6 games without a rainout. I love these weather updates. Thanks.
