  1. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 28, 2014 -> 04:10 PM) An eligible free agent who is clearly good enough to play not getting signed would bring a collusion lawsuit from the union pretty quickly. He comes with tons of baggage. He still knocked his now wife out.He also averaged 3.1 yds a carry last year and hasn't played in months. Good luck with that lawsuit.
  2. QUOTE (flavum @ Nov 28, 2014 -> 12:37 PM) I agree, but that's just the way it is. Bench players and run of the mill bullpen arms bounce around. Danks hasn't bounced yet, but it's probably mostly because his name is Danks. They do have time and money invested in him. Maybe he will be a trade throw in. I just doubt these guys were brought in to replace him or battle for a job, because frankly, it isn't even an upgrade. If any of them are getting much playing time with the White Sox, either a lot of people got hurt or it is garbage time.
  3. QUOTE (flavum @ Nov 28, 2014 -> 12:33 PM) He could, but at this point it might be that time to move on for everyone involved. 28. Not that good. 5 years in Charlotte. If he's going to be a journeyman, it's about that time to move along. The thing is, these guys they signed are in the same boat, or maybe in one leaking more water. Losing Jordan Danks isn't going to matter, but neither is Shuck or Campana. They suck just as much.
  4. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Nov 28, 2014 -> 12:08 PM) I wouldn't have done it, but that was the story. If the Sox were even thinking about getting Votto, they wouldn't have signed LaRoche obviously. But Votto hitting 3rd with Abreu 4th would be quite a dynamic duo. That's all I'm saying.
  5. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 28, 2014 -> 12:28 PM) I believe Danks has an option left, so he can be sent to AAA if he does not win the 4th OF job. I know you are correct, but it does seem like Danks should have been out of options years ago. Campana is minor league fodder. It isn't for Chicago.
  6. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 28, 2014 -> 11:49 AM) That would be pretty bad. I would guess LaRoche would fare better at 3B than Abreu or Votto. He'd be like Mike Squires. LH 3B.
  7. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 28, 2014 -> 11:31 AM) I realize that this is already a hypothetical that will never happen, but the Sox have two 1B/DH already under contract for the next two years. Obviously, although Boston was thinking about trying to make Abreu a third baseman.
  8. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Nov 28, 2014 -> 11:05 AM) Not at 9/$200m for ages 32-41 coming off an injury-riddled season. I would take him in a heartbeat.
  9. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Nov 28, 2014 -> 10:20 AM) So a new Star Wars trailer came out today. And no to Jay Bruce, if I want anyone from the Reds it's Joey Cueto. Votto would be pretty nice.
  10. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 28, 2014 -> 09:04 AM) What, in the past 3 games? There was far too many mistakes before anything got fixed The kickoff coverage has been good all season. Of course most of it is Gould. The rest of the special teams has been pretty horrid. The FG yesterday snapped the longest streak without a FG for the Bears in 54 years.
  11. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 28, 2014 -> 08:11 AM) they all feed into another. ST with bad coverage gives opposing teams better field position>opposing teams score easier>more pressure put on offense to perform(which they dont)>leads back to special teams or a turnover>back to defense. There are teams that have a "machine" that works well, and leads to positive results. The Bears have created a machine that works well, and leads to negative results ST kick coverage is getting really good. I was listening to the 3rd Q in the car on my way to my sister's house yesterday, and Joniak said they are now something like 2nd in the league covering kicks.

    Hamburgers

5 guys is good, but now with Edzo's in Lincoln Park, it is the only way to go.
  13. i wonder what the racial breakdown of the Grand Jury is.
  14. JBJ is a left handed hitting Brian Anderson who strikes out more and hits fewer homers. His offensive game in the minors was predicated on drawing walks, something he does a lot less of in the majors because he isn't much of a threat with the bat. He isn't particularly a burner, but is a Gold Glove quality, like BA, in the outfield. Unless they see something that they really think is a fairly simple fix to make him hit, why bother? Throw in, OK. Main piece if you are giving up something decent, silly. Weren't there some crazy rumors last year about the White Sox wanting to trade for Victorino? If they can get the Red Sox to eat cash, it might not be a bad play this year.coming off a major injury, playing for a contract, could mean nice price tag, and very motivated player.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 26, 2014 -> 08:37 AM) He's just sat out for a week, if it's legit fatigue on the 2nd night of a back to back, fine. He played 25 minutes in the front half. He obviously needs to build up endurance. At some point he is going to have to push through discomfort or this will continue. Having him sit out 3 weeks now , which I was referring, doesn't make any sense to me. If you were training for a marathon, would you try to be "smart" and only run until you were tired? He has to have some sort of plan that gets him to 35-40 minutes a night, even back to backs. If guys only played when they weren't fatiqued, there would be a lot of forfeits in the NBA. It is almost like the Bulls are walking on egg shells with him. Thibs is obviously frustrated, but if this continues another month or two status quo, someone from the Bulls is going to have to grow a pair and risk pissing Reggie off and talk to Derrick.
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 26, 2014 -> 08:10 AM) Just sit for three weeks regardless of the fan pressure to play. It's a long season. Just trying to be smart, back-to-back (games), fatigue, and didn't want to take any steps back," said Rose, who scored two points. "So, take these couple of days off, head to Boston." I really don't know what taking more time off does to help that. If he is fatiqued, he is going to have to push himself. There is very little he can do outside of the games to improve his wind during an NBA season.
  17. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 26, 2014 -> 07:26 AM) Apparently Thibs wanted to be cautious, according to Friedell. According to Cowley it was a benching. Man, the sad part is we don't even need MVP Rose and DPOY Noah...we just need the normal versions of them, but Noah's searching for his energy / playing out of position and Derrick's mental wall is huge most of the time. Thibs comments when asked about him after the Utah game, indicated he is getting pretty frustrated with how this is playing out. But if he is so freaked out about any ache or pain, playing probably isn't the right thing to do. I just think his head needs as much rehab as his body parts. Get him a shrink.
  18. If Michael Brown was shot in the exact same way, except the cop was black, is this a story that goes world wide? Do people destroy their neighborhood the same way if the black cop doesn't get indicted? I
  19. I am just wondering what the end all is here. He hasn't started and finished 2 games in a row yet this season, and has had no knee issues. If this keeps up, the being ready for the playoffs line, is out the window. How is he suddenly going to be able to answer the bell every night in an even more intense environment, playing starters minutes. His quotes after the game indicate he was just sore, nothing like a pull or anything. It makes you wonder, because eventually he is going to have to suck it up and play through something for this pattern to end, unless the pattern is never going to end. No pain, no gain.
  20. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Nov 26, 2014 -> 01:58 AM) You must have read his scouting report from 2013 when he was in Boston. McDaniel said scouts say his change-up flashes above average. While that may not mean he has 3 "plus" pitches yet, he certainly has a plus secondary offering and a 3rd pitch. Here is one from October. There is a lot to be excited about, but there still are some caution signs: http://www.baseballamerica.com/minors/scou...ncellis-montas/
  21. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 25, 2014 -> 12:49 PM) It just sounds to me like you are viewing this as a poker game or something...and Chris Sale and Abreu are Aces and Q is a King...and we can only hold 5 cards, so why trade our Aces and Kings? Well what if we can trade one of those Aces for an Ace, two Kings and a Queen? If the White Sox were bagging the next 2 seasons, I would think they should think about trading him, but that is for injury purposes. Trading your better players for prospects, rarely works out player wise.Greinke to Milwaukee seems to have worked a bit. Colon to Montreal, but even then Phillips was a bust with Cleveland and Cliff Lee took a while to be good, and they wound up trading him for a bunch of garbage. I do agree, if you are going to trade him, it better be for more than prospects. You better have something that is established in the major leagues coming back, or, if he doesn't wimd up on an operating table, it is a fireable offense.
  22. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Nov 25, 2014 -> 11:16 AM) Wrong, option B is how you end up like the Royals of the 90's, having a couple stars but not having enough depth to ever make a run. Thats the option where you get to see players like Chris Sale win championships in other cities while you remenice on his time as a White Sox and how he should have won Cy Youngs, but couldn't win enough games because of the talent around him. In option "A" you move one of those players and supplement the other stars that remain with above replacement level players, if some reach star status that is icing on the cake. The teams in the WS this year are great examples, neither could be considered to have more than a couple of star players (especially with Cain out), but are solid enough all around that they make up for it. Obviously Sale and Abreu are off the table, but a Q trade could fill a lot of holes and provide enough upgrades that the Sox can contend next season and each of the years that they still have Sale under contract. The Royals did exactly what you are proposing. They would trade their stars for prospects.
  23. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Nov 25, 2014 -> 08:14 AM) How'd Hanley and Anibal Sanzhez for Beckett work out for the Red Sox? But this isn't even worth arguing over....Sale isn't getting traded anytime soon. Just a fun thing to think about, I'm a junkie for trade ideas lol ReD Sxo won the WS. So why would the White Sox give someone else a better chance ar a WS?
  24. You need to find a mix. You don't want your business out there so much it actually hurts your chances of getting something done, but as was posted above, each time the team is mentioned with these players, it is free pub. Keeping your fanbase engaged IMO, is very important. Especially White Sox fans who can spend their winter switching to the Bulls and Blackhawks, and might not become fully engaged to the baseball team until the season is halfway over, and that is even if certain criteria have been met.
