  1. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 09:03 AM) On the 2012 headstone These White Sox Started off slow, but pace got fast Offensively a Pox But for sure, this team ran out of gas Ran out of gas or got a couple of flat tires sounds about right. They wouldn't have been in position to win if they hadn't pushed their pitchers like Sale, Quintana and Peavy earlier. De Aza gets hurt, Youkilis is breaking down, Dunn pulls a muscle, Konerko needs wrist surgery a ton of rookie pitchers......for a team that was flawed to begin with its asking a lot for them to keep overcoming these things. I thought they would, but I don't think the future is nearly as dark as some think.
  2. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Oct 2, 2012 -> 12:02 AM) Fans make way too many excuses for Konerko when they think his numbers should match Ted Williams. The guy is known for long slumps. Plus age may be catching up with him. As for tired, that's the lamest excuse ever. Let me now when Cabrera and Fielder get tired. They might have had one day off the whole season. Their day off is when one of them is a DH. As soon as the season ends, Paulie will be undergoing wrist surgery. I think that's a pretty legit excuse.
  3. QUOTE (oldsox @ Oct 1, 2012 -> 10:51 AM) If Dunn goes 0 for 11 in the Cleveland series, his average will fall below .200. If they get elimated, they won't let Dunn get below .200 or the strikeout record.
  4. The team was a lot better than I figured they would be. I just think they ran out of gas and some key guys were hurting. Konerko and Dunn are clearly playing hurt right now. Youkilis was worn down. Sale and Quintana were pitching in uncharted waters. A ton of young guys in the bullpenThere really wasn't anything that could be done that wasn't already, and I'm one of KW's biggest critics. Throwing Phil Humber a couple more times to the wolves wouldn't have helped the W/L record. Unfortunately the Sox are on the short end this time. Maybe it takes them to another level next year. Things are hopefully done in the winter to make the team strong from the start. We will see. I'm certainly not pessimistic about 2013 unless they decide to take it all apart.
  5. If the reports are true and Hahn is the GM, I do think things will be a little different, but not drastically especially if KW is still around. Hahn has been more involved in recent years in all aspects, I think before he basically was a contracts guy, so there's that. I think the difference is he will do the leg work and be the point man with the other teams instead of KW, it will be interesting how the offseason goes. There should be some money to spend. John Danks should be back. Its, IMO, not nearly the doom and gloom some predict. They are still in the AL Central. I don't see how anyone can say Detroit will definitely be better. If a couple of bullpen guys step up and guys like Quintana can show this year wasn't a fluke and build on it, there should be no reason they can't be in the race next season. I wonder if they will try to re-sign Youk or if he is heading back to Boston to play 1B.
  6. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 30, 2012 -> 11:40 AM) To me the crazy thing about the conversation wasn't Guillen being brought back at some point, it was the idea that the rebuild will take only a year or two. I laughed and told him minimum three years to rebuild this roster mess. You have already states you are not qualified to make this sort of comment.
  7. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 30, 2012 -> 11:35 AM) Where has Ventura thinking about quitting been mentioned Marty's guy Jt doesn't say that in Marty s post. The beer vendor just laid out a scenerio to Marty.

  9. Hahn won't bring Ozzie back. He burned his bridges.
  10. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Sep 29, 2012 -> 03:17 AM) Broadcast tonight was awful. There's clearly something going on in the booth. It could just be that Hawk was just under the weather, but it was odd they weren't speaking to each other at all.
  11. I don't know if there really is something going on or Hawk is just under the weather, but Hawk and Stone didn't speak to each other the first 2 innings
  12. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 10:45 PM) I don't ever remember actually collapsing in 2006. At least not too late. We just couldn't keep up. 2003 is about the only thing comparable to me. Most loaded team in franchise history all goes to waste because of Jose Paniagua The Paniagua thing was overblown. The only game he pitched, the Sox won. The supposed momentum he gave the Twins is just someone wanting to deflect blame IKO.
  13. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 07:55 PM) His record speaks for itself. So do your posts.
  14. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 02:56 PM) A middle-of-the-pack team is appropriate send off for KW. They would have battled foe the best record had KW listened to your advice and picked up Pierre and Zambrano.
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 02:09 PM) I should probably just stick talking about Ozzie rather than the Marlins since I am no expert on that team. I did think Miami would win the division, yes. Sometimes teams are so bad even Ozzie can't rescue them.
  16. The regular officials owe the guy in Green Bay a bit of gratitude. If he wasn't so obviouslyincompetent on a national telecast, I doubt the deal is done.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 26, 2012 -> 07:53 AM) Now Ozzie doesn't respect Bell... http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/miami-m...ath-bell-092512 Unless the Marlins eat a lot more money than they will have to eat if they dump Ozzie, Bell is going to be a Marlin for a while. This is Ozzie's get out of Miami statement. The parallel (sp) career-wise to Ditka is incredible to me. It certainly seemed to me Ozzie was trying to get fired last year, and he seems to be up to his old tricks again 12 months later. I hope he enjoys his paychecks the next 3 years, because I think teams will see a pattern here and realize the possible spark he might provide isn't worth the headaches and the bad ending that are just about guaranteed.
  18. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 03:10 PM) Wow. I left to take a piss and the inning is already over Not a good day to be a vendor. Its like Buehrle is back for those guys.
  19. Just someone get on base so the tying run is at the plate.
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 03:08 PM) Do you think our team does not match up well against any Central team except Minnie? What can the Sox do to better compete against the Central in the future? Bring back Ozzie
  21. Gets his in between starts work in and gets a couple outs.
  22. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 02:50 PM) Well i was wrong about that. Great inning by Omogrosso there He's been really good today. Its not exactly the 1998 Indians. Shows you what throwing strikes can do. Maybe Ventura knows what he's doing. Maybe as Greg would say, he's dumb like a fox.
  23. QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 02:48 PM) We could go with the Tigers approach and DH Youk with PK playing third and Dunn at first I think Youk needs to hire a personal trainer this offseason. Get stretched out, maybe strengthen the core a bit, lose a little around the gut. He doesn't have to do anything crazy, just something that will make him hold up a little better.
  24. Lillibridge is still the same.
