  1. QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 09:19 PM) He's stellar for what he gets paid. You know, that has quite an impact on one's value. Quit being intentionally dense. Is this how you deal with your Sox frustration -- by trying to pick fights with other posters over nothing? I'm not picking fights, I'm just pointing out your inconsistencies. Its funny you rate performance not on the performance but on the paycheck. Imagine how pissed you'd be at Prince Fielder right now. He just got owned by a guy making minimum.
  2. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 09:16 PM) I disagree.....You have a guy like Fielder who is a great hitter. I dont care the lefty you throw at him he is still capable to do A LOT of damage. CMON VEAL!!! I probably would have let Dirks hit, but you're right, this situation is why Prince is getting the big bucks.
  3. QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 09:15 PM) Fister doesn't make 20 million, and he's Detroit's number 4 starter. For better or worse, more is expected of Peavy, and deservedly so. You just posted how stellar he's been. Andy the Clown is quite appropriate.
  4. QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 09:04 PM) Does anyone else resent that Fister has turned into such a stellar pitcher since the Tigers acquired him last year? He was a number 5 type in Seattle, then boom! Different guy. How much different is his performance tonight vs. Peavy's? Seems to be its one seeing eye single before the Jackson homer. Could you imagine the s*** Peavy would get if he gave up homers to the equivalents of Wise and Beckham on any team?
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 09:02 PM) Like you do, whatever. None of your financial conspiracies have ever been validated, NOT EVEN ONCE. You support Beckham but are all over Viciedo, just like Marty34. Once again, whatever you say. When have I been all over Viciedo? Never. And my financial conspiracy was validated. The only time I complained about the payroll was 2009 when they lowered the payroll but increased ticket prices when they had season ticketholders unused playoff ticket money hostage. They wound up adding Peavy and Rios. So they did have money to play with.
  6. QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 09:01 PM) It's hard for me to respect the opinion of anyone who has Yoko Ono as his avatar. How dare you insult the great Geddy Lee (who will be in town on Saturday night). If I had the power, I would suspend your ass WSI-style.
  7. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 08:56 PM) Maybe if you stop complaining about White Sox financial conspiracies, because that makes everyone happy too, lol. Well you obviously don't think the Sox will score another run tonight, and you have a bunch of company. That means the slack you were giving Peavy was 1 run. He couldn't give up more for the Sox to win. Just stop with all your BS. Everyone knows you have no idea what you are talking about.
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 08:50 PM) Go ahead, be happy with the pitcher we've been overpaying for 3 of the last 4 seasons if it really makes YOU happy. It's obvious, the Tigers are 1-9 in their last 10 games, not including the sweep. You breathe ANY life back into them...well, you just don't want to do that, do you? Would you rather the two teams be tied with 19 games to go just to make it more exciting? Do you want to bet $1000 on Gavin Floyd against Scherzer tomorrow? You aren't a history buff are you? The Sox breathed some life in them twice recently, both times they went into a skid. I don't like Gavin Floyd, never have, never will, so I won't bet $1000, but I will bet you $1000 the Sox make the playoffs.
  9. QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 08:47 PM) Is there any particular reason to be excited about Gavin Floyd against one of the hottest pitchers in the game? No reason to be excited about anything White Sox. So, they are in first place in the middle of September. They suck. The players suck, the manager sucks, the announcers suck. The geniuses are on this board telling you exactly what should have been. They were waiting for Peavy to give up some runs just so they could pop of all the choke garbage, just like they were waiting for AJ to have a positive test to blast him. I really don't know why a lot of Sox fans choose to be miserable during a surprise season with the team in first place.
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 08:41 PM) Jesus. Did I say we lost? I just said we let them back into this game and series. That's it. The White Sox bullpen needs to show up and beat the Tigers, simple. Not only did you suggest this game is over, you really questioned tomorrow night, and basically suggested the Sox forfeit on Thursday as Verlander will be pitching the game of his life. So considering he's a Cy Young and MVP, that means the Sox really have no shot at that game. You should give up baseball and find a new hobby. There has to be something that makes you happy.
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 08:36 PM) This was THE game we stepped on their necks and crushed them. Now, with a who knows what they'll get out of Gavin Floyd versus Scherzer, and the probability that Verlander will show up on Thursday ready to pitch the game of his life, we've just injected life back into them. You're right. This game is ova. Its the 5th inning down 1, the Sox with no chance.
  12. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 08:18 PM) Young is another guy fans don't want back. I hope he isn't one of those guys Kenny always wanted. After his Anti-Jew incident, there isn't a chance he's a White Sox unless they get new owners.
  13. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 08:15 PM) Was Young that fat when he was with the Twins? No. He definitely started gaining weight with the Twins, but eating with Cabrera and Fielder has taken is waistline to another level.
  14. Hopefully he can keep this up another 3 innings. His pitch count is getting up there.
  15. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 08:11 PM) I like their announcers as well, but their emotions have been getting the best of them since the Tigers started this road trip/skid & rightfully so. Every announce team in baseball are homers. Just because Hawk is better at it doesnt mean he should get hate....especially from OUR fan base. They should be a homer. When the Sox won the WS, people who complain about Hawk being a homer were complaining Joe Buck wasn't excited enough.
  16. Beckham has 15 homers and will have 60 plus RBI this season. With his defense, he's very worth keeping around. He's been robbed of a couple of homers as well.
  17. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 08:01 PM) You could tell that was in the park by Cabrera's reaction. The guys that are used to hitting them usually know if they are gone even if its by a couple feet, and they know if its short. The only X factor is how the wind will react. I read an article a few years ago which stated the only place the ball doesn't carry well and in fact it carried poorly at USCF, was if you hit it at the CF scoreboard. There have been a lot more homers to CF this year than I can remember. Maybe it was just the extra heat this summer.
  18. When KW gave his intellect comments, most of us assumed he meant the Sox should try bunting a little bit Cabrera's way. Have they done that at all so far this series?
  19. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 07:49 PM) Did anyone say he should have been given a major league job? No, no one did. I'm saying that having Johnson start over Viciedo against Fister leads to a better probability of success. I posted that LH batters have a much higher BA against Fister (55 pts) and noted that Johnson has been mighty good against RHP the past several years, albeit in AAA. You just said he sucked. That's great and informative. Why are Johnson's major league numbers vs. RHP insignificant, but his minor league numbers what you should look at? Last I looked Fister is a major league pitcher, not Jeff Marquez.
  20. QUOTE (Baron @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 07:48 PM) Where was this? It was at a season ticketholder party last year. They sell the same stuff they sell at the Sox garage sales.
  21. QUOTE (Baron @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 07:44 PM) I have a feeling that wasnt cheap Guys that were no longer on the team, and really weren't all that significant of a player, probably was cheaper than you think. They had Orlando Cabrera game used for $30, and one of them I saw was actually signed.
  22. QUOTE (Baron @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 07:41 PM) Who the heck buys a Wise jersey? It probably was on the bargain rack at a Sox garage sale. Then he comes back.
  23. There used to be a stat that in the NBA, a scoring champion had never won a title. MJ destroyed that. Ozzie wanted to get away from depending on homers even though that and some great pitching got him a ring. Even on this board, homers were considered a bad thing for a while. For some reason people preferred doubles and singles. With a team that's not very fast, its not going to work unless you have .300 hitters with .370 OBP up and down the line up.
  24. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 07:33 PM) One year that worked past October. It's the Sox MO. They Sox have always been better when they hit more homers. Their weakest total the last 10 or 12 years IIRC was in 2007. If Alex Snellius is writing a lot of checks, the Sox are probably winning more often than not.
