  1. Rush rules. Its really is a travesty they aren't in the HoF. I really don't think they give a rat's ass though. As a long-time fan, I appreciate what they do for their fans. The last 3 tours, they played for 3 hours with no warm up band. I know there are people out there that don't appreciate their music , but as someone who does, its pretty sweet they play that long. I also appreciate the airtime they gave me as an audience member in Frankfurt on their R30 video. Some of their tunes are on youtube, and some of the complaints about them are really a joke. Someone actually said that because their music during concerts sounds almost exactly like it does on their albums that they lack creativity.
  2. Its a shame the Sox set the attendance record the year they had a 3rd place team. I wonder how season ticket renewals will go. The waiting list was a good idea, but another year like this one and I think tumbleweeds will be spotted at USCF at least for the April and September games.
  3. I really hope Chicago doesn't get them. It seems like a collossal waste of money to me. The Olympics being in other cities has never made me want to visit that city. Building a 95,000 seat stadium and then chopping it down to 10-20000 for what? What could they hold there? The security issues I could do without. Just say no.
  4. The Tigers are in the playoffs. That is quite a turnaround. At the end of last season, things didn't look so good. For White Sox fans sakes, hopefully their pitching will do similar things in 2007 to the White Sox staff did in 2006. The grim reaper is circling the White Sox as the Twins magic number for a tie is 1 and for a playoff spot is 2.
  5. Its pretty apparent Cotts cannot get anybody out. There is absolutely no reason to use him anymore this year. In fact, just so Ozzie won't be tempted, I think I would send him home.
  6. For a guy who can't hit, Uribe sure is going to wind up with a decent amount of homers and RBI for a SS.
  7. The Tigers are about to clinch a playoff berth. A great season for them.
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 24, 2006 -> 01:53 PM) Ozzie has already said he'll play the regular starters the rest of the year, as they have salary bonuses to still play for. So he's talking out of both sides of his mouth again as it appears the player's personal stats are more important than the development of young players. It was funny to read this morning that Ozzie said he won't be watching the playoffs because he'll be jealous of the teams still playing. Didn't he just go off on Magglio because Magglio was quoted as saying the Sox would be jealous if Detroit was in the playoffs and the Sox were at home?
  9. At least some common sense has prevailed as Bruce Levine announced the Sox are putting Contreras and Buerhle on the shelf until 2007.
  10. The Twins scored 2 runs on a strikeout.
  11. I think the Sox play Oakland 9 times next year, and the Yankees 10 times. Put that together with the 19 against Minnesota and 19 against Detroit, think how easy the schedule will be next year. All those teams will be so exhausted from the playoffs.
  12. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 23, 2006 -> 01:10 PM) You're using a single guy's one contract year to try and make a point about Rangers hitter being able to hit away from Texas whereas I used more than 20 different guys who proved the exact opposite. Michael Young's career numbers say it's more likely he won't hit well away from the ballpark in Arlington. In 2005 Young hit .330 on the road with a .384 OBP and 12 homers, virtually identical numbers to his home splits last year. He's hitting .285 this year on the road, with a dissappointing .329 obp. Although you would like the opb to be higher, those numbers don't exactly equate to a guy who can't hit away from Texas. He could hit anywhere.
  13. Why is Mark Buerhle on the mound?
  14. 'Fields is starting at 3b tonight. Ozzie is probably sick of watching Crede roll into DPs.
  15. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 22, 2006 -> 05:29 PM) Only in Texas. His road OBP is Think about it for a second, not that I wouldn't take Young over Uribe. I think that's a fluke. Frank Thomas only hit 4 road homers a few years ago, and 24 at home. Young will be a good hitter wherever he plays.

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Sep 22, 2006 -> 06:00 PM) You pay for the Uhaul, Myself and several other Soxtalkers will take the day off of work and help him load it up. In fact, I might just drive as well to make sure he gets out of here quickly. I'm sure they have Sox fans working the toll booths that would be more than happy to "wave" him right through.
  17. They had to do something, last year was ridiculous. Considering all the conventions they have in this huge city, its shocking they couldn't find a venue to accomodate more fans. Oh well, if you don't go, at least you won't have to hear the optimism of the starting rotation picking it up in September and building on that in 2007.
  18. I think he will still be a good player. He'll probably fall a litttle short of this year's numbers, and someone will pay him off of this year's numbers, so I would pass. If he would take a reasonable contract, I would sign him in a heartbeat. He's a better baseball player than Aaron Rowand.
  19. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 09:42 PM) I think even Williams is surprised at how much work he is going to have to do this off-season. I saw KW in his box last night. He did not appear happy.
  20. I knew something was wrong earlier in the season when everyone was getting excited about the defending world champions making huge comebacks but still losing.
  21. I think KW is going to have a hard time ignoring the bullpen this offseason. The reason the Sox won last year was great starting pitching and a lights out bullpen. If the Sox had the lead in the fifth or sixth the game was over, contrary to some experts who think Carl Everett and Aaron Rowand are the difference.
  22. QUOTE(TheOcho @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 09:35 PM) I love how people thought Boone would be good back at the start of the season. Kid needs more time in AA or A. I think he and Pods should go play for the Joliet Jackhammers.
  23. QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 09:32 PM) Everett and Rowand helped lead the Sox to a World Championship in 2005. Everett's talents had been slipping the past few years and by 2006 it appears he's about through as a major leaguer. Rowand was doing pretty well in Philly but suffered two major injuries, one which ended his season. It's irrelevant what they did this year, the point is last year they were key members of the Sox and a major contribution of both of them was their fire, intensity and leadership both on and off the field. The Sox are lacking those qualities this year. I can assure you 100% that their absence from the White Sox roster has nothing to do with this team finishing in 3rd place in the AL Central.
  24. QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 09:25 PM) when it comes down to it...the player either accepts losing and goes home to the wife in his mansion...or has so much desire that winning is the only thing that matters...these days it is so difficult to find players with talent, charisma, pride, and heart. i am sure as fans we dont really understand the grind of 162 games + preseason and all the travelling...at least i guess... Its not easy, but they have it about as easy as you can make it. They don't haul luggage. They fly charter flights. They have a lot of time to kill, and they make more money then they will ever be able to spend. Sorry if violin music doesn't pop into my head when I consider their plight.
  25. QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 09:23 PM) A.J's been one of the few guys to come up with some clutch hits in the last few weeks. Catchers usually do have a legitimate excuse of being "banged up" around this time of year. Ozzie supposedly was good at motivating players, but it turns out it was guys like Carl and Aaron that were more responsible for that than Ozzie. Our new "Captain" sure ain't the type, either. Everett played his way off the Mariners, and the Phillies played a lot better after Rowand got hurt. Last year the pitching was awesome. This year its been bad until the last couple weeks . The offense was playing so over their heads, you knew a correction was coming at some point. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 09:26 PM) Yep...I'm sure a lot of them head right home to their wife. Not right home, but they make it there eventually.
