Gamethread: 9/12, Sox v. Angels
Call me an idiot, but if the Sox don't make it, and it appears like the chances are slipping away, I would want someone from the Central to win. Either Minnesota or Detroit. If they both were eliminated, I always pull for the AL.

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 12:13 AM) If I'm a true Sox fan, I'd try to jump off the cliff, but I wouldn't make it cause I'd slow up before I got to the ledge. Probably sporting a Pod's jersey

At least I'll have a good portion of next season's tickets paid for.

Its time either Jenks goes back to the doctor or gets a few days off. Something is not right.

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 12:06 AM) I'll bet anything on this that I'm right. He also dropped one against Toronto, and winds were not a problem that day.

QUOTE(3E8 @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 12:04 AM) Those were his 20th or so games started in the outfield. He's not that laughable bad anymore. He hasn't played much OF since. He's no better, but like a lot of said, our current LF isn't exactly a gold glover.

QUOTE(Friend of Nordhagen @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 12:01 AM) Hey, Dick, I got the impression you were watching the game WHEN THIS HAPPENED. That means you're still thinking about this, 2 hours later. Watching Podsednik play baseball can do that to a person. He drives my crazy. I watched the replay on my Tivo over and over with my mouth wide open. I cannot understand how mediocre at best players don't have their heads in the game and can't give maximum effort.

QUOTE(3E8 @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 11:59 PM) He's not. He got a really bad rap because of the game he f***ed up in out there. I watched Ross Gload drop 2 routine flyballs the same week in 2004. He is a bad OF. But so is Pods. Get the guy in there who at least may get on base.

Gamethread: 9/12, Sox v. Angels
What the hell was Pods thinking when he stopped running on the SB attempt? Is his mind really that out of it?

Gamethread: 9/12, Sox v. Angels
QUOTE(ChiSox_Sonix @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 11:57 PM) is he really that awful in LF??? Cuz his bat would help this team so much He is awful in the outfield. The current LF, however, is just as awful, if not worse.

Gamethread: 9/12, Sox v. Angels
If Pods played hard, he might not be good, but at least he'd be bearable.

Gamethread: 9/12, Sox v. Angels
Nice hustle by Gload.

QUOTE(Friend of Nordhagen @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 11:50 PM) Why, was he running through the stands, into the parking lot, and out of our lives forever? One can only hope.

Gamethread: 9/12, Sox v. Angels
QUOTE(Friend of Nordhagen @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 11:49 PM) I missed it. So, really, how bad was it? For some reason, about 10 feet from 3rd base, he pulled up, then started running again. He was then thrown out. He has no baseball sense at all.

QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 11:48 PM) That didn't take long. AJ is our most overrated player. I disagree. In fact I think he's the Sox MVP. If he got hurt, the Sox would be stuck with Sandy and Stewart. The season would be over.

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 11:42 PM) We need more Pablo in extra innings. I'm no fan of Pablo in LF, but its time Ozzie looks at that alledged SB attempt by Pods and pulls the plug on him this season. Pablo is really no worse than Pods in LF.
-
Gamethread: 9/12, Sox v. Angels
Don't the Sox have someone with an ERA of around 6.00 at A ball this year that Ozzie can put in the game now?

Gamethread: 9/12, Sox v. Angels
QUOTE(3E8 @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 11:41 PM) Pods line last three months: .260/.305/.335. Just what you want from the player guaranteed the most at-bats. Its amazing to me one of the worst hitters on the team is guaranteed to come to bat at least as much, if not more than any other player on the team. If there is some reason Pods must play, he should bat 8th or 9th.

Gamethread: 9/12, Sox v. Angels
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 11:39 PM) Pods hasn't had a called 3rd strike tonight. Thats alright, he pulled up at third and most likely cost the team a run. What a useless player he is. He shouldn't be ahead of Jerry Owens even.

Gamethread: 9/12, Sox v. Angels
QUOTE(Maverick0984 @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 11:35 PM) Juan WILL swing for the fences Most teams swing for the fences in extra innings. Some analyst had a theory that a team with little team power would be a better extra inning team, because they wouldn't swing for the fences. If you can reach them, its a natural reaction.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 11:33 PM) How'd Buerhle look? Buerhle wasn't bad from the little I saw. He had a couple of real quick innings, which to me is his key. When he starts throwing a ton of pitches, he usually gets hit hard.

Gamethread: 9/12, Sox v. Angels
QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 11:26 PM) ...or a loss. It wouldn't take too long a losing streak to basically end the White Sox season. There haven't been many games lately where they shouldn't have won., or at least if they really wanted it, could have won. It really is a shame how many games this team has pissed away this season. Its been a collective failure. They have a good record, but the last 70 games or so, have been a below average team. No one wins races limping to the finish.

Gamethread: 9/12, Sox v. Angels
This is the type a game where a win may carry over for a while.
-
Gamethread: 9/12, Sox v. Angels
Yet another game where the Sox have had their chances to make it not so close.
