  1. If Contreras gets out of the inning unscathed, I think the White Sox will salvage this game.
  2. QUOTE(Friend of Nordhagen @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 06:26 PM) It's a real commentary on this year that we're ready to rely on Sweeney and Haeger to bail out Podesednik and Contreras. Its almost surprising when a White Sox pitcher pitches out of a jam now.
  3. Get Haeger up now. The White Sox can't afford to get behind 7-0.
  4. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 06:23 PM) Count's already thrown more pitches than Snyder And Synder has 2 ks
  5. QUOTE(Friend of Nordhagen @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 06:21 PM) I wouldn't mind if the ballclub won this baseball game tonight. It would be nice. Contreras is going to have a tough night it appears.
  6. QUOTE(Friend of Nordhagen @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 06:20 PM) Seattle beat the Tigers. matters
  7. Dye really seems to be trying to jack everything now. Anyone think its because his next homer would be number 40?
  8. Ozzie had a .610 career stealing pct. Not very good. Maybe he should have learned to be a speed guy.
  9. How come when Ozzie was playing, and he knew everything, he never learned how to slide? Maybe he could have learned that in winter ball.
  10. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 05:31 PM) We get to see for ourselves tonight, that is us out of towner's, if the Chisox have any fire left and can turn their recent slide around. I'll see you all on the TV Aren't ESPN games usually bad news for the White Sox?
  11. But Ozzie also mentioned that BA wasn't that fast. If there's some secret formula in Winter Ball that makes you a few steps faster, the Sox have about 12 guys on the roster who need to be on Anderson's plane.
  12. QUOTE(Brian @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 04:27 PM) While dropping Pods in the lineup is a nice message, what is the point? The point of having him is to get on base and steal, not for his defense. While putting Pods as leadoff is worthless, putting him elsewhere is pointless. Mac/Sweeney/Anderson in LF before Pods. It may have taken Ozzie 135 games to figure it out, but at least he finally figured out having one of the worst hitters on the team leading off is not a good idea. Scott Podsednik= 8th place hitter with no power and a terrible defender who can't throw.
  13. The one quote Ozzie has that makes no sense is when he says Anderson hasn't cost the Sox any games this season. If he hasn't cost the Sox any games why doesn't the Ozzeroo get on someone's ass who has?
  14. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 02:56 PM) Yes but I think they will wait all night. It reverts to the end of 7. 4-1 Mariners. No, they changed the rule a couple years ago. If a team ties or takes the lead and it becomes rained out after its an official game, it becomes a suspended game and will resume from the point it ended.
  15. I'm as big of Ryan Sweeney fan as anyone, yet I fail to comprehend the annointing of him as a hall of famer after 1 game where he struck out, had a solid single, and had a broken bat bloop hit off a guy who collected his first major league victory. Brian Anderson was the first Sox rookie to have 2 hits on opening day this season in the past 20-25 years, and he hasn't been Paul Molitor at the plate. I think Sweeney is the best hitting prospect in the Sox system. I think he will be a far better major leaguer than Fields, but don't expect Sweeney to carry this team right now.
  16. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 08:32 AM) Yup. The only guys I see really hustle it down the line are Thome, Pablo, Mack, Anderson, Gload and Iguchi. Note that 3 of those are bench guys. But I think that was different last year. There was more hustle on that 2005 team, even from the same players. Ozzie benched a couple different guys mid-game last season for not running out grounders. Maybe he needed to do some of that this year. That's right, Pablo runs everything out as well. Gload and BA and Iguchi run sometimes, but I see them loafing from time to time.
  17. The one thing that Ozzie needs to be asked is why at the beginning of spring training did he say he didn't care what Anderson hit, he was only concerned about his defense? To me this is very inconsistent with his tune now.
  18. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 07:56 AM) I only have one issue with Paulie this year... he appears to not run out ground balls. Yeah, I know he is the slowest guy on the team. But its more than that. The double play he grounded into last night, would have scored a run if he had beat it out, and frankly he didn't look like he was running too hard. That just bothers me, especially for a team captain, and especially when I see Thome (who is also slow) running out every ground ball like he does. That irritated me. The White Sox as a team have been notorious for not running out grounders. I remember reading an SI article in 2004 when they were talking to a scout. He said they couldn't get the White Sox players times down to first because no one ran balls out. I also recall many moons ago, Hawk actually calling out Ozzie one game, albeit it very quietly, for not running a ball out. Hawk just said he hated when Ozzie did that. Thome runs them out, although now he has to take it easy with his hammy, Mackowiak goes down the line as hard as anyone in baseball, other than that, its pretty much a team full of courtesy joggers.
  19. Personally I think if Ozzie feels this way about Anderson, why in the hell didn't they send him back to AAA and acquire someone who could play CF? Why, if Anderson needs so much work to be a good player, is he the only player on the defending champions with a $100 million+ payroll who can play CF? If Ozzie can't play him everyday for some reason then it would serve the team well to get someone else who can play his position defensively at least adequately. To me, Ozzie=Ditka, a couple of guys who won a championship, not necessarily all because of them, and will live off that the rest of their lives. If 10 years from now the Sox fire Ozzie after losing 100 games 2 years in a row, there will be a good number of people talking about the raw deal Ozzie got, how he was responsible for the title all those years ago.
  20. I don't think they quit. This team is 26-32 since AJP homered in the 9th to beat the Cubs. They have become a mediocre ballclub.
  21. He definitely deserved a win tonight. Pitched as well as anyone could have hoped.
  22. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 08:20 PM) Why isn't Ozzie Guillen getting more criticism in the press for how flat this team is? Its only Ozzie's fault when the Sox win.
  23. Through 9 innings yesterday, Boston scores 2 runs. Tonight 1 run through 8, and chances are they will win both. If you're in the mood to watch death, screw waiting for the zookeeper's video to come out, just tune into White Sox baseball nightly. They just find ways to lose now.
  24. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 07:15 PM) BTW...how much was PK out at first by? Approximately 67 feet.
  25. QUOTE(GOD @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 07:11 PM) Ok can someone tell me why Crede is batting 3rd Thome 4th and Konerko 5th? Also where is Gload? Why are you asking questions? You're GOD damnit.
