White Sox vs. Royals Game 2........
QUOTE(shoota @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 06:54 PM) I like the way you think. I've been on the TK bandwagon for some time now. Join us. I saw your signature, thats what made me think of him. I'm a Sweet Lou man myself. I think the Sox need a few cages rattled and he's the guy to do it.

White Sox vs. Royals Game 2........
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 06:52 PM) Can Buehrle hold the Royals scoreless after we give him the lead? He's been notorious giving up runs after getting a couple this season.

White Sox vs. Royals Game 2........
QUOTE(Wealz @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 06:50 PM) What's Kelly's winning percentage? Have Ozzie manage a few rebuilding teams and see what his percentage is. He has only managed a team that was supposed to contend.

White Sox vs. Royals Game 2........
QUOTE(Wealz @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 06:47 PM) Jerry Manuel never won anything more than a division. Not bad guiding a team to the best record in the AL with the 26th highest payroll in baseball.

White Sox vs. Royals Game 2........
QUOTE(Wealz @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 06:47 PM) Jerry Manuel never won anything more than a division. Then Tom Kelly should be the manager of the White Sox. He has 2 WS titles, so he must be twice the manager Ozzie is.

White Sox vs. Royals Game 2........
Dye isn't seeing the ball very well tonight.

White Sox vs. Royals Game 2........
QUOTE(Wealz @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 06:37 PM) Jerry Manuel never won anything. He won a division, manager of the year and had the best record in the AL in 2000. And he did it with a payroll far from the highest in the division.

White Sox vs. Royals Game 2........
QUOTE(G&T @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 06:32 PM) It seems to me that Gload could have starter somewhere for a while. But I doubt he'd ever be the first baseman for a winner. I think Konerko is better defensively although Paulie would never had made the play Gload did the other day. I have a hard time believing Gload would hit .300 if he was a regular.

White Sox vs. Royals Game 2........
Well maybe the Sox will think the Detroit series on the 18th, 19th and 20th will be big enough to show up at. I wonder when they will feel the game is important. They don't seem too intense to me.

The Frank Thomas Situation
QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 04:51 PM) I'm confused as to how you arrived at that conclusion? I am happy we have Thome instead of Frank, but in hindsight, keeping Thomas at $3.5 M wouldn't have been such a bad move. For one, we keep Gio Gonzalez with the possibility of using him to acquire another player, have more money to spend elsewhere, and Rowand is still on the team as the starting CF. I'm not a fan of Rowand, but he's been more productive than Anderson this season, and Ozzie's not platooning Mack out there with Rowand still on the roster. Konerko said that Thome was a huge reason he came back. Its not a conclusion, its a fact. There's no telling what Rowand would have done with the White Sox. His numbers aren't that much better than Anderson's playing in a weak league. He may have been great, he may have gotten injured on opening night. Thome is a better player than Frank Thomas at this stage. Plus he's left handed. Dye and Konerko had nowhere near the success with Frank hobbling around than they have had with Thome. Everything people around here complain about Thome lacks Frank lacks more except for strikeouts. Frank cannot hit doubles. He is slower than Konerko. Another thing, Frank Thomas wasn't cleared to play until just before the season started. For a defending champion looking to repeat to wait that long for an answer to what would be a huge piece of the puzzle would have been too big a gamble. I know every game has the possibility of being anyone's last, but in Frank's case the odds are better. He's one misstep or foul ball from being done.

The Frank Thomas Situation
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 02:11 PM) And he should feel justified. Kenny, Ozzie, Jerry, a lot of Sox fans (especially from this board), thought/claimed he was done. He's made a lot of people look stupid. That's what great players do. When you doubt them, that's when they rise to the occassion. I can almost guarantee you Frank wouldn't throw it in the Sox's face if they did go all the way. He's not that kinda guy. When was the last time Frank even mentioned the White Sox? His play has done all the talking that needs to be done. How does replacing him with a guy with better numbers across the board make anyone look stupid? I'm glad he's not on the White Sox. KW and crew would be planning for 2007 right now. The other thing that is also glossed over by those drinking Frank Thomas Kool-aid by the gallons is Paul Konerko would be with the Angels right now if Frank was the White Sox DH.

Pinch run for AJ please, you have 3 catchers.

Sox @ Royals, September 1, 2006 7:05 p.m.
If AJ walks the tying run will be in scoring position.

QUOTE(Drew @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 10:00 PM) In that replay, Peter Pan looked like he was slowing down as he was approaching first. I wouldn't put it past him. It looked like it because he was. The guy is a bum.

Its amazing our lead-off hitter is probably the worst hitter on the team.

Why can't Pods run through first base just once.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 09:45 PM) You know, this is starting to look like one of those "well, we fought back hard" kind of games. I hope that's not the case, but it looks that way right now to me. I'm pretty sick of those.

QUOTE(shoota @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 09:43 PM) This is the game here. We need a big 2-out hit or it's very unlikely the Sox will win. Even with a hit here, its very unlikely the Sox will win. At least its the KC bullpen.

Gload hitting for Anderson, Sweeney will probably see CF

A HUGE DEVELOPMENT: JOEY CORA ACTUALLY HELD JD AT THIRD, HE COULD HAVE JOINED THE LONG LIST OF WHITE SOX RUNNERS THROWN OUT BY 40 FEET AT HOME PLATE THIS SEASON.
