  1. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 09:35 PM) If Burgos gets a breaking ball over here AJ's done If he could get a breaking ball over, he would actually be a good pitcher.
  2. The tying run always comes to the plate.
  3. QUOTE(shoota @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 09:01 PM) It's not that farfetched to think Contreras is pitching with pain. Recall what happened with Politte this year. Ozzie knew he was pitching through pain that wasn't there last year and KEPT USING HIM. I think it's in Ozzie's personality to tell Contreras to man up and pitch because the team needs him and it's the stretch run. Ozzie would rather have Contreras's ineffective pitching than to give McCarthy a starting spot. If the Sox fall short this season, we will hear about numerous pitchers pitching around injuries. That's a given. What won't be explained is why the Sox didn't use McCarthy if these guys were hurt.
  4. There is no question the world championship has gone to the White Sox manager's head.
  5. If you lined up major league players by how good they are, the line in front of Pods would be miles longer than the line behind him. It appears its a lock that he won't be back next season, and I for one am happier than KW was when he got to say goodbye to Frank Thomas.
  6. Its pretty funny that the White Sox approach gets ripped, but when the swing for the fences and it works its considered a great at bat.
  7. Joe Crede with a Frank Thomas special making the score 7-1, unfortunately it only counts as 1 run.
  8. QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 08:26 PM) Same ol story vs. the Royals. Maybe Oz should start the 4 guys we brought up tomorrow. We just don't have the magic this year. Or is it simply the pitching? Maybe Ozzie should walk around the clubhouse tomorrow and see who really feels like playing, then make out the line-up.
  9. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 08:24 PM) I think the rule is that you can't just assume that a guy would have been out, IIRC. If you can't assume he would have been out, you can't charge him with an error. You assume that runner is out, so if he scores its unearned, and any that score with 2 out would be unearned as well because if Cintron had not made the error the inning was over.
  10. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 08:22 PM) Actually, according to Gameday, all 7 of Jose's runs are now earned. They shouldn't. Cintron's error should at least make 3 of the runs unearned.
  11. Hawk discussing the lack of intensity. How come its not Ozzie's fault the Sox lack intensity? If Jerry Manuel was managing, it certainly would be blamed on him.
  12. How can you not be amped-up to play when its September 1st and the playoffs are on the line?
  13. I was at the game yesterday and there was a guy who looked like Jermaine's double if JD gained about 40 lbs. He was with a little kid. I wonder if it was his brother, I don't know if JD even has one.
  14. Its beginning to look like a pre-2005 stretch run for the White Sox.
  15. Only the 4th GIDP for Thome. That's pretty shocking to me.
  16. QUOTE(beautox @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 08:03 PM) AJ has said that catching his knuckle isn't any harder than catching Jose's fork. The ball seems to pop out of AJs glove a lot.
  17. They are talking about Haeger. I think one big question with him will be do the Sox have a catcher who can handle him.
  18. Anybody else's sound off a bit? I hear the ball hit the glove and bat a hair before seeing contact.
  19. The Sox have to score to win anyway. Its time for a crazy offensive inning.

This is just ranking their batting average. Pods provides no power and DH-like defense.
  21. QUOTE(SoxnGiants @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 07:54 PM) Sox pitchers have developed a really bad habit of falling behind hitters. What happened to attacking the strike zone? That's what happens when you get hammered around the park for a few starts. You lose confidence and are afraid of anyone making contact. Contreras looks decent tonight.
  22. This game is reminding me of a couple of Esteban Loaisa's starts against the lowly Tigers in 2003. It looks like Contreras has no room for error tonight.
  23. This is not the time for the offense to go into the tank. 3 runs yesterday was unacceptable.
  24. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 07:46 PM) We're hitting the ball hard, it's just right at them. Hernandez has pitched better than his record lately. Pods had a couple games when it looked like he may become a major leaguer performance-wise. Apparently it didn't take.
