White Sox vs. Royals......Goin for the Series
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 3, 2006 -> 03:38 PM) It's too bad the good posters don't come in here, as they're about the only people that do defend him. I'd love to hear what Wealz has to say about this game. jphat would say the homers were just bloops hit on great pitches.

White Sox vs. Royals......Goin for the Series
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 3, 2006 -> 03:36 PM) I wish Ozzie would have stuck to his word and quit after we won the World Series. I think he did, he just didn't tell anyone.

White Sox vs. Royals......Goin for the Series
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 3, 2006 -> 03:33 PM) Our super smart manager, has decided to march out a guy with 104 pitches to start an inning to get the W. Now he backs up his moronic decision with another dumb one. Putting the guy with the mid 6 ERA since the allstar break and a whip of 2 1/2. Someone needs to break ozzies 8 ball now, its defective. Ozzie has a WS ring, how dare you question anything he does.

Does Ozzie want to win this game?

White Sox vs. Royals......Goin for the Series
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 3, 2006 -> 02:01 PM) The annoying thing is that we don't even have a righty on the bench who we could DH today. I hope that AAA title is important enough to not promote Fields yet. Fields would most likely have the same results as Thome, although he wouldn't be batting 4th.

It will be a minor victory for Dye if he makes contact.

White Sox vs. Royals......Goin for the Series
QUOTE(BearSox @ Sep 3, 2006 -> 01:25 PM) come on freddy. one more. who was the prospect? I don't remember, someone who didn't amount to anything. It would have been interesting if the Sox actually made that trade, because after Sweeney showed he couldn't catch, he really wouldn't have had a spot to play.

White Sox vs. Royals......Goin for the Series
Dye really looks lost. Move him back to the 5th spot until he makes contact again. The Sox almost got Sweeney several years ago as a catcher. KC wanted a prospect Schueler didn't want to give up, so the Sox got Fordyce instead. Sweeney was a horrible catcher.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Sep 3, 2006 -> 07:06 AM) Sorry, I do my best to freighten anyone flying airplanes. Make you sweat a little bit. Have a good time in BAWSTAN. That's cold. Funny but cold.

White Sox vs. Royals Game 2........
Ozzie has Mack in LF and MacDougal pitching. Tom Kelly must have called him and told him what to do. I'd like to have a dozen golf balls for every time Hawk mentions he'd like to have a dozen golf balls.

White Sox vs. Royals Game 2........
The way Perez has handled Dye, maybe he wants to face him. I don't know if that's a good idea.

White Sox vs. Royals Game 2........
I like the Sox chances if it becomes a battle of the bullpens, even if we do see Cotts.

White Sox vs. Royals Game 2........
QUOTE(SoxnGiants @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 07:38 PM) 3 runs over 6 innings isn't a bad start - and should be PLENTY against Odalis Perez and the Royals. Considering the Sox have only won 5 games this year when scoring 3 runs or less, 3 is usually not enough.

White Sox vs. Royals Game 2........
QUOTE(Wealz @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 07:39 PM) Look at the starters' ERA. (Even) Tom Kelly couldn't win with this rotation. But since it was all because of Ozzie the Sox pitched well in the postseason, shouldn't it be all his fault if they suck?

White Sox vs. Royals Game 2........
QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 07:36 PM) I really thought Buehrle was back after his last start. Too bad he skipped the WBC and can't use that for an excuse. Somebody please check the lights on the KC scoreboard.

White Sox vs. Royals Game 2........
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 07:34 PM) No offense to anyone, but can we actually discuss the game and stop with the Ozzie pro/con right now. If we don't improve, there's 28 more games until we can talk about this 24/7. Taking the attention away from what is going on in KC is good, I think.

White Sox vs. Royals Game 2........
When was the last time Hawk said Ozzie won't let happen what is actually happening?

White Sox vs. Royals Game 2........
QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 07:28 PM) So Kelly was managing that team for what, one year? You can follow an organization closely but it does not compare to following the team every day, like I'm sure you do with the Sox. My point is that most of the problems we have with Ozzie (stuff about favorites, Mackowiak in CF, sticking with Pods) are things that are evident only from watching the Sox on a daily basis. I'm sure if you ask Twins fans, they'll have a list of peeves with Kelly as well. It's also common knowledge that 2002-present Twins players didn't like Kelly all that much and began winning only after Gardenhire took over. Kelly had a lot to do with the Twins success after he left. They didn't like the fact that he made them take infield and run drills after games they lost and lost because of stupid plays. He taught them how to play the game the right way.

White Sox vs. Royals Game 2........
QUOTE(shoota @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 07:18 PM) I was describing Tom Kelly, a man whose baseball managing abilities are far superior to Ozzie's. And for those who say Ozzie is a manager whose best assest is motivating his players, he's inferior to TK in that aspect too. TK gets his players to do the little things to win games because they know they will be replaced if they don't. There's no greater motivation than staying in the majors. I watched part of that special they have been having about Ozzie on Comcast. It was interesting to me that he never has disciplined his sons. His wife does that. It really makes you wonder if he has the ability to get into his friends faces when its called for.

QUOTE(beautox @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 07:18 PM) Dye having a tough day at the dish. Last time he had a game like this at the plate, he also dropped a ball, got the next day off and then got hot again.

White Sox vs. Royals Game 2........
QUOTE(Wealz @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 07:01 PM) Did they have the highest payroll in baseball? Because they won the World Series! What was Ozzie's batting average in the WS?

White Sox vs. Royals Game 2........
QUOTE(Wealz @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 06:57 PM) Last year's team was predicted to be middle-of-the-pack. Nonetheless, two seasons managing, 1 World Series title isn't a bad rate of success for Guillen. They had the highest payroll in the division.
