White Sox v. Mariners
How long do you think they will let Anderson struggle before replacing him? I still think he can be decent, a lot of really good hitters started out awful. On the other hand, a lot of awful hitters started out awful.

White Sox v. Mariners
QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 10:10 PM) At least we found a pitcher he can pull the ball against. Which is probably the wrong approach for him to take against Moyer.

White Sox v. Mariners
Moyer is the type of pitcher I would expect Anderson to have no success with.

White Sox v. Mariners
Widger mentioned last week that Garland was having shoulder issues, but seemed to be feeling better before his last start.

QUOTE(klaus kinski @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 08:24 PM) Lots of guys in there that havent faced Moyer-who can be confusing with that junk he throws-I dont like this wholesale nite off Hopefully Moyer will act his age, and get lit up.

Cotts, Politte Draw Concern
Its just a matter of time before the bullpen will get a lot of work. They all made a ton of appearances last year. This year should be no different. Cotts isn't locating, but I think he'll be decent. I've been concerned with Politte since before spring training. The last time he made as many appearances as he did last year, the next season his ERA was around 6.00. Jenks seems to be coming around, although his fastball still seems to be AWOL from time to time. Logan goes from being thrown in to pitch to Hafner in a crucial situation, to not pitching in 10 days, and Thornton's lack of control during his career isn't going to be helped by not getting in a game. Eventually though, all will see some action, and I for one wouldn't mind Gload being replaced by a pitcher if they don't have a right handed hitting OF available. Ross may be a nice guy and a decent player, but his is a totally wasted roster spot right now.

Podsednik hurt?
The Sox problem is they really don't have much of a choice as far as leading off goes. Ozuna could, but do you really want him in the OF? Of course the way Pods has hit, and thrown the leather, and if it were to continue, Widger would be a better choice as a lead-off man. I am pretty biased, though. I have really never been a Pod's fan except for Oct. 23rd, 2005.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 03:06 PM) I just looked, I have the Sox this week in my 13 run pool. Come on, strike out Why the green? 13 should be enough to win.

Hawk needs to quit talking about the ball being juiced. The only way to get him not to mention it would be for the Sox to hit a few more homers.

QUOTE(zenryan @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 02:38 PM) 2 outings in a row Garland gets a big lead and really cant hold it. not the end of the world but its not a good thing either. he better get his ass in gear 21 hits 16 runs in his last 7 1/3 innings. At least it appears one of the games will be a win.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 02:33 PM) I've always liked DJ. He might not be the most intelligent guy at times, but I find him funny and entertaining. DJ is pretty good. You can tell he works hard, and gets better every year.

I wonder if the Detroit pitcher is related to the guy who used to sell toupees. If he is, maybe he can get Paulie one.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 02:26 PM) 12-8. HUGE. The Sox offense usually has died after scoring a ton of runs early in the past. Its good to see some padding of the lead.

QUOTE(mr_genius @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 02:20 PM) haha, you guys seriously want to trade Garland after 2 bad outings? He can't be traded anyway. His no trade lasts the season.

QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 02:14 PM) But, for the record, I think he'll start pitching much better and it's foolish to give up on Garland now, particularly when we have so much invested in him. I don't think anyone has suggested giving up on him. Just take him out when he obviously has nothing and is getting rocked. You never know, you may need a cushion later.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 02:11 PM) Soft tosser huh? I didnt know low 90's fastball/sinker pitchers were soft tossers? 2 bad outings and you abandon all hope for a player. Man im glad you arent affiliated with the white sox in any way. You have to admit, being staked to a 6 run lead, and not being able to hold it, despite a couple of misplays, and being staked to an 8 run lead and not being able to keep it a laugher has to be a little concerning.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 02:08 PM) I'm starting to feel sorry for Pods. Not contributing in any way so far this year. He's getting a little over $2 million for his efforts. I don't feel sorry for him.

It would be nice to have those extra runs given up in order for Garland to qualify for a win, back.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 02:06 PM) He relies on hitters getting themselves out. He gives up alot of contact. Sometimes the hits are going to find holes. This is what happened today. Against KC, he pitched very well, then the defense really failed him. Ozzie thought he pitched like s*** vs. KC

QUOTE(Soxfest @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 02:02 PM) JG will be the odd man out this winter! If he reverts to his form before last season, his contract will be difficult to move. He'll get better. He can't get worse.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 01:59 PM) Works for me. And all jphat was saying is that he's perfect in save situations this year, cause he kind of is. Shingo was 8 for 9 last year. Where you upset when he was replaced?
