  1. QUOTE(Felix @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 01:57 PM) Don't worry. Jenks will come in, let up a 2 run HR, but still get the save. He's perfect on the year! LMAO
  2. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 01:55 PM) What did the pitch that hit Thome look like? Was there intention behind it? Cuz if it was, I would love to see Shelton get drilled back. I don't think it was on purpose, but it did almost get his nuts.
  3. QUOTE(qwerty @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 01:49 PM) I think the tigers just had alot of lucky hits that found the holes today. ^^^^^ jphat's twin
  4. Often leaving pitchers who have nothing in a game just so they can get a win, means a loss for the team.
  5. Garland was getting pummelled at the end of spring training. They have to get him out of the game.
  6. QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 01:25 PM) Farmer is a dolt. You just realized this?
  7. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 01:24 PM) Who's been walked more? I know Thome was intentionally walked a few times against the Tribe, and I think they did in KC, too. I love Jermaine Dye's throwing arm. Pretty stupid move by Gene Lamont.
  8. When Garland's not getting grounders, it tends to be a struggle.
  9. Garland seems to be back to his pre-2005 form.
  10. Thome already has as many road homers this season as Frank Thomas had in 3 of the past 4 seasons.
  11. Young's lost a lot of weight
  12. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 10:18 AM) McCarthy is needed for other situations, not this. If McCarthy took over the closer role, then Jenks would be a set-up guy, his initial role when he joined the team. You're right about the fact the Sox would then basically have no "long" man. Someone who could go more than 3 innings in the bullpen. But that might not be necessary with the calibur of the White Sox rotation, although Vazquez has been known to have very short outings from time to time, and that could blow the bullpen out, but Buerhle follows him, and he's pretty much a guarantee to go deep into a game.
  13. QUOTE(rudylaw @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 10:11 AM) I do miss that gong. The gong was nice.
  14. FWIW, Shingo was 8 for 9 in save opportunities for the White Sox last season. Most people here wanted to put him on a spit.
  15. I was watching something on ESPN, and they had this little tidbit: In 1990, the 2 highest paid players were Kirby Puckett of the Minnesota Twins, and Robin Yount of the Milwaukee Brewers. The highest team payroll belonged to the Kansas City Royals. My, how things have changed.
  16. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 06:44 PM) Where did I say that? I said he's perfect on the year. Which he is. He's done the job all four times that he has been called upon. And for teh most part he's ahd a really good year. Just one bad pitch to Shelton. The other run was a bomb by Reggie Sanders on a good pitch. Don't turn into jabroni and start putting words into people's mouths. It's embarassing. Last season you ranked pitchers based entirely on their ERA. You also said record wasn't important. Now Jenks ERA is over 6.00 and you are saying he's having a good year I'm guessing based on 3 saves in 3 save opportunities. I'm trying to understand. A save doesn't make it a great outing. 2 of his 3 saves he had the maximum lead allowed by rule to begin the inning to get credit for the save. He was shaky in both outings but got credited with a save in both. His other save was a 2 run lead, and he looked great. His other outing he pitched 1/3 of an inning, and was having a tough time locating. Of his 4 appearances, I would say he was great in 1, poor in 2, and incomplete in the other. Hopefully he can keep his curveball down, and if he regains velocity, his fastball up. When he got hurt last season it was on low fastballs.
  17. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 02:41 PM) And make room for who? Javier Lopez? How about Redding? I get your hate of Jenks, and I have NO PROBLEM with criticism, but we got the W today, and while Jenks has not been pretty, he has seemed to get the job done, while getting some velocity back. So whats your point?? I was responding to a post that said he had incredible pressure on him today with BA misplaying a ball. I also commented that I didn't believe the pressure was too great for him. All I said was if that was the reason for the meatball, which I didn't think it was, he should be pitching in Charlotte.
  18. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 02:34 PM) I for one am not worried about Jenks. Its a f***in downpour, and Anderson botches the first out. That is a ton of pressure on the kid. He had a 3 run lead. If that's too much pressure, which I don't think it is, they have room for him in Charlotte.
  19. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 02:23 PM) Should be much lower with BAs gaffe. 3 straight saves in 3 straight games. Looks good to me. Should be higher without the incredible effort of Crede Sunday. That stuff evens out.
  20. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 02:20 PM) Rowand has an Error already too, so they are even. Rowand dropped a ball. He was struggling with the sun.
  21. I'm so glad Bobby got himself ready for the season.
  22. DJ is totally putting the jinx on Contreras right now.
  23. Am I the only one very happy not to see Steve Perry anywhere near a White Sox game?
  24. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 05:35 PM) And yet, when Oakland visits the Sox on May 22nd, I'll bet that 90% of the stadium will be giving Thomas a standing ovation. IIRC, Ozzie Guillen didn't exactly leave the organization on great terms, yet ask the casual fan right now if he remembers that? I really hope this doesn't turn into a Thome vs. Thomas thing. Williams made the correct choice, as Thomas chance of staying healthy the rest of his career doesn't seem very good, and Thome looks to be recovering very nicely from last years injuries. But that's about it. Thomas will always have his place in Sox history, and Thome will be paving his. You're probably right, but there will be a smattering of boos as well , I believe, that wouldn't have been there if he didn't pop off. Also Ozzie returned 7 years after he ripped the organization, and many of the fans weren't too enamored with the front office when he left. There's a lovefest with JR right now. He was signing autographs like a player on opening night. KW can do no wrong in most Sox fans eyes. Ripping them isn't going to fly right now. If Frank came back 6 or 7 years from now, his idiotic comments would most likely be forgotten. I still think he is on the disabled list by May 22.
  25. I'm kind of surprised. I think he could have got a lot more cash had he become a free agent after this season. Actually its worth a little more, because the contract takes effect this season and his $9.2 million for this season gets ripped up. A complete no trade clause.
