Thome vs Big Frank
QUOTE(KWs OK for Me @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 02:57 PM) As opposed to saying 'yea they should definately have left me go. I'm past my prime, an injury waiting to happen, and a shell of the man I used to be. Oh, by the way, do any other teams out there want to sign me now?' I mean, yea Frank can be a dick, but of course he's going to say that he's the better player, its a combination of posturing and the fact to be at that level you have to be a little conceited. I have very little problem with people expecting a lot out of themselves As opposed to him just keeping his mouth shut. Everett supposedly bashed KW again, this past weekend. KW trades for him twice, gets his fat ass out of Montreal, has him playing and winning a WS, and he is bashing him? Thomas and Everett with their .095 and .136 averages would look a lot better with their mouths closed.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 02:09 PM) No, Hawk said PK could "turn around a 30-30 when he's swinging the bat right". Sounds like some kind of weapon or something. I think its a rifle. I don't have a gun collection, so I may be wrong.

99 MPH fastballs go out quickly if solid contact is made.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 01:59 PM) I don't get it, Richie. McCarthy is the only pitcher in that bullpen I have confidence in to get this game to Jenks--whether or not I believe in him in the ninth is a different story all together. McCarthy needs to stay in. If Ozzie get's cute here with a Politte/Cotts...or...even worse a Politte/Logan tandum, I'm going to lose it. The suggestion was that Logan needed to be "tested". If its all about tests, McCarthy could use a test or 2 himself. My opinion is forget the tests, just win the damn game.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 01:56 PM) What a tough play made there by Iguchi. MCCARTHY STAYS ON FOR THE EIGHTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Who's with me? I got into a lot of trouble when I suggested the same against the Indians.

That was a nice play, and I'm pretty sure the ball was foul, because if it was fair, if AJ dropped it, he had an easy DP.

Quit making excuses Hawk. Pods needs to either wake up or sit down.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 01:38 PM) Ivan Rodriguez and Dmitri Young have stolen bases on Freddy today. Hey Fred, why don't you check the runner every now & then? Young was out by a mile, Crede didn't make the tag.

QUOTE(Allsox @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 01:34 PM) Forget giving Singleton a chance cuz he plains sucks. Thanks to his awful call, I had no idea Crede hit the ball, let alone a line drive, let alone it had a chance to go, let alone it did go out. You missed Hawk's call. We got Hawk's homerun call on a foul ball hit be Cintron.

QUOTE(POPPY_HIDALGO @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 01:33 PM) JOE CREDE!!!!!!!! Ball must be juiced. :finger How come Hawk only mentions the ball is juice when the other team homers?

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 12:51 PM) Aside from Thome, our offense has been pretty awful this year. When your leadoff hitter has not scored a run, the offense tends to look bad.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 12:44 PM) He had at least 2-3 monsters that were >425 just last year when he was back in June. Don't know about 4, but as many as he got for us, I'm sure he hit a few bombs in a row. 440 feet for Thome. 431 ft was the longest homer at USCF last year. Thome hit one 431 opening night, and 448 game 2. If this one was 440, the one yesterday was probably that as well. Its incredible. Thome was strong to begin with, but with his elbow surgery and back problems, he worked out pretty fiercly, and is probably stronger than he's ever been.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 12:40 PM) Frank Thomas. But only Frank Thomas. Frank would be the only one I could think of, but I don't think he ever had 4 go over 420 ft. in a row.

QUOTE(gsoxs1 @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 12:29 PM) How's Freddys Velocity looking today? Is he in the 90s? Comcast mysteriously is not showing pitch speed, but supposedly he is in the upper 80s to low 90s

Dye not getting Paulie over cost the Sox a run. Of course getting Paulie over probably isn't the easiest thing to do.

Maybe Crede can get another broken bat double. That was sweet yesterday.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 12:14 PM) Granderson pops out to Crede. It also seems that Gene Lamont is the Tigers' third base coach. So that's what happened to him. Lamont was not a bad manager. Replacing him with Bevington was foolish.
