  1. The one thing I'm worried about is a Garland walk-a-thon with the layoff.
  2. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 06:40 PM) Wow, Figgins almost rips a double down the line. That's really using "rips" loosely.
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 06:37 PM) What happened to Rowand's power? It looked like he drove that ball pretty well off the bat. I think you know.
  4. They just showed how he was calling other dropped 3rd strikes yesterday. Rowand swung and missed a ball in the dirt, Eddings had that deal were he sticks his arm out and watched the catcher tag Rowand and then came with the out or as he calls it now, strike call. Eddings might not have said anything but he definitely signaled AJ out. It was a huge break and thank God the Sox took advantage.
  5. For those of you that attended the game last night, the guy who played a couple of songs before the anthem, did I hear him correctly when he finished saying "thank you Chicago, go Red Sox"?
  6. There was a guy selling suite tickets on craiglist for $400. I wonder if he got in through him. JR is a hero for not hooking him up.
  7. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Oct 12, 2005 -> 10:40 PM) The replay on Crede getting doubled off showed he was clearly out. At least he totally redeemed himself.
  8. It might have been the right call, its still hard to tell, but he signaled out. That's the problem. I am so happy he did call it a trap.I think Buerhle was going back out in the 10th and I had visions of Britt Burns and Tito Landrum back in 1983. That game featured a baserunning blunder just like this one. What did the replay show when Crede was doubled up? It really didn't matter, Pods would have had to drive him in, and I think we all know that wasn't happening.
  9. That was a huge break. The ball may have hit the ground but the ump used the universal out sign which should never happen if the batter is not out. You can't go by verbal only, there is no way everyone would be able to hear him unless they were playing at USCF in April. The out sign means out. I have never seen an umpire use the out sign on balls in the dirt. You can be sure that you will never see Eddings use it in that situation either. It would be interesting to see other times a dropped 3rd strike occurred with him behind the plate. I would be willing to bet he didn't use the out sign. AJ sold it to him. Its nice to be on the right end of a break, as Wimpy would say in the immortal words of the late Aurelio Rodriquez, "we take dat one."

Anyone looking to go to the games but unable to due to ridiculous prices on ebay and craigslist may want to head to the park tonight. If last night was any indication, getting tickets for face value and sometimes even less should be no problem. Looks like the brokers and other greedy ticketholders overplayed their hands. FWIW, if you do go and scalp a ticket or 2 I would suggest you stay away from people hawking the ticketfast tickets which are easily duplicated.
  11. Rowand bunting in the 9th was ridiculous. You're putting everything on AJ. There is absolutely no way Crede can hit K-Rod.Absolutely no way. Rowand had to hit there and be short and quick. Why was AJ stealing? I hope there was a missed sign. What's with Dye bunting? If that's his only way to get on, the Sox better find someone else to bat 3rd. A couple of tough plays that if they are made the game is still tied. The DP ball where Iguchi got nailed and threw it high, and the slow roller to Crede who had no play at home but hesitated toward home anyway and had no shot at Cabrera. Pods unable to execute a bunt was painful especially after Dye's single.
  12. QUOTE(Felix @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 01:54 PM) Less pressure? I agree that Santana did a great job and there was pressure, but I think that losing one in Boston is a huge deal, especially with what they did to the Yankees last year. There's pressure, but not the lose you go home pressure Santana was under. I'm not short-changing Duque, he was awesome, and the mess he was getting out of, he had nothing to do with.
  13. Bartolo Colon..............he gone
  14. QUOTE(Felix @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 01:36 PM) so now anytime someone gets out of a jam, should it be compared to what El Duque did? The kid did a great job getting out of the jam, and you have to give him a lot of credit. El Duque was incredible getting out of his jam which was bigger, but less pressure. If Duque gets lit up and Boston wins the White Sox are still up 2-1 in the series. If Santana gives it up last night, the Angels go home.
  15. QUOTE(iWiN4PreP @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 01:47 PM) serious? Thats effing sweet Dan Patrick says he's not on their roster.
  16. Colon will not be available to the Angels against the Sox.
  17. I was wondering earlier, is baseball going to be even mentioned on ESPN now with NY and Boston eliminated? Since they spent all that money on the NFL and NBA and the NBA exibition season ready to kick off, those sports will probably get most of their attention.
  18. QUOTE(GasHeGone @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 09:34 PM) Can they really make the Yankees/Angels go from New York to Los Angeles to Chicago in three days? If so, that's awesome. They should. The network had to have the game yesterday in prime time. If it was an afternoon game they could have gotten back to LA at a reasonable time, and perhaps even played this afternoon. If they push the ALCS back a day it would be to quote Hawk "total BS".
  19. With the Sox making a nice playoff run, I think its almost certain Konerko will be back. Unless his demands get ridiculous, the Sox almost have to sign him now.
  20. The only problem with the Count pitching against the Angels is they run. Any walk or single is an automatic double for a decent portion of their line-up. I wouldn't mind the Yankees winning tonight, having them fly to LA and have about a 15 inning game tomorrow night. The Sox could be up 2-0 before either team woke up. It is pretty amazing an 18 game winner hasn't pitched and will probably be skipped.
  21. QUOTE(whitesoxgt @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 08:42 PM) glad u witnessed it cuz the way the sox were playing in the past i dont think anybody could see them win a playoff series. i c a bright future after this year. with jenks, anderson, chris young , jerry owens and mccarthy, especially all our young pitchers in the minors so it wouldn't suprirse me if we make the playoffs every single year We've all said and thought this plenty of times before. Nothing is promised.

Berman didn't bother me, I went to the first 2 games and heard the reports so I expected a little bias. His dissapointment when the Red Sox failed to score or when the White Sox did score was obvious. ESPN is cringing at the thought of the Yankees being eliminated. Even though I believe they don't have any of the games the next 2 rounds. If the Yankees lose, would ESPN even cover the WS? I wouldn't doubt if they have burned the phone lines to Selig's office trying to get him to declare the Yankees and Red Sox winners of their series in the best interests of baseball.
  23. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 11:50 PM) Curry passed his physical according to SC. Yes he did. And Larry Brown said he isn't in very good shape, but thinks he will be eventually. Larry Brown is going to be wishing he never left Detroit by December.
  24. If JR wanted to open the checkbook, I would take Manny in a heartbeat. The man can rake. For all those who says he would be a disruptive force, if he's so disruptive how come he's always on teams in the playoffs? It isn't going to happen. $20 million a year isn't going to fit the Sox budget, and supposedly Boras is going to be becoming his agent.
  25. Considering the Sox were kicking Boston's ass when the game was rained out earlier this year, and beat their ass at the make-up game, and beat their ass 3 times in a row, Mr. Wakefield he of the 0-4 record with an ERA over 9.00 lifetime in ALDS games should shut his mouth. His pitching obviously makes teams hot.
