Bases loaded, one out. Rowand has to do something here other than strikeout on a pitch low and away.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 04:01 PM) Is Hawk still whining about the sign stealing? Yeah, he's reading E-mails about it.

This sign stealing BS is old. Hey Hawk, if the Sox think Texas is stealing signs, why don't they have anyone smart enough on the team to change the f***ing signs?

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 03:47 PM) Did Rowand try to throw the runner out at home? Poor throw I'd imagine? No, he went to third, and probably should have had him.

The defense has sucked, but Hawk needs to quit using it as a crutch for our #1 and #2 starters. It would be nice if at least once in a while, they could pitch over an error.

Garland looks like he'd like to be anywhere but on a pitching mound in Arlington, TX.

Garland has Jose Contreras disease today. He appears afraid to throw a strike.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 03:35 PM) FWIW BMac hasn't pitched for 6 days...not good... Hopefully the extra day will help him. If he keeps it in the park, he can win. If not, it could be ugly.

QUOTE(3E8 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 03:34 PM) With that hit, Blum still has a worse BA, OBP, and SLG for the Sox than Crede. But he's on a roll. He may have 8 rbi's by the end of the season.

Pods needed to do better than that, at least get the guy to 2nd.

Don't worry, these games mean nothing. The Sox only have to play .500 the rest of the season.

Hawk popping off about a big difference between home and away performance could mean cheating is going on. Maybe Hawk doesn't remember some recent Sox teams. In 2003 they were 11 under on the road and 21 over at home. The players batting splits were even more ridiculous.

Playoff Tickets
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 10:05 AM) Now what is the "processing" fee? Is that only for season ticket holders? Does it apply if I just by tickets at the box office? I don't think they hit you up for processing fees at the box office. It was for season ticket invoices.

Playoff Tickets
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 10:00 AM) Don't want to create a whole other thread, but when are they expected to release the tickets to the general public... Considering season ticketholder money was due yesterday, I would imagine it would be in 2-3 weeks.

Playoff Tickets

Buehrle thinks Rangers might be cheating
Texas has a lot of good hitters, and that park is very nice to hit in. Maybe they are cheating maybe they aren't. I think it would be best not to say anything to the press. The White Sox have been accused of cheating in much the same way over the years.

Mark Bellhorn
QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 09:27 PM) It will be disgusting if they make the playoffs. I'm so sick of them and the way they do business. I know they play by the rules, but no team should be allowed to take a flyer on every veteran player that becomes available. Baseball is just crying out for some form of salary cap. The current system is a joke. Bellhorn has been pretty awful this season.

Game Thread 8/29
QUOTE(WinninUgly @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 08:34 PM) I didn't get the chance to see the game, only updates on Yahoo. How did Iguchi get 3 errors? I think he has hit the wall.

Game Thread 8/29
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 08:31 PM) Yah, that works over 3 games, but over the course of the season, if a guy has a higher with more wins, that means his offense has scored more runs. Wins are not an indicator of a pitchers performance. And the difference is 3 earned runs over 27 starts. Santana has allowed 14 fewer runs overall.

Game Thread 8/29
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 08:29 PM) Mark has given up 63 ER in 189.2 innings. Santana has given up 66 ER in 188 innings. So those 3 ERs really make a huge difference. Including tonight, Buehrle has allowed 20 unearned runs, Santana 3.

Game Thread 8/29
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 08:21 PM) Yes it is. A guy with that kind of record is getting great offense. That's the reason he is winning. LOL. I can't blieve you're arguing that you'd rather have a pitcher who gives up more runs. Example: Head to Head Gm 1 9ip 2er w Pitcher#2 Gm1 9ip 5er l Gm2 9ip 5er l Gm2 9ip 4er w Gm3 9ip 2er l Gm3 9ip 1er w Pitcher #1 1-2 3.00 era Pitcher #2 2-1 3.33 era Call me crazy, but I'd go with pitcher #2.

Game Thread 8/29
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 08:14 PM) And that's exactly my point. The fact that you'd rather take a pitcher who gives up more runs is just incredible to me. I can't put it any other way. What that says is that the other guy's team scores more runs for him. I'd rather have that other guys offense, but I sure as hell don't want him over a guy with a 3.07 ERA. If you read it correctly I would rather have the guy with the higher ERA if over that same time he won more games. There are some pitchers when they lose, lose 4-2. Some lose 8-2. ERA isn't the most important stat.

Game Thread 8/29
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 08:09 PM) Like I say, if you think wins have anything to do with measuring a better pitcher, then there is no sense arguing. I can't argue with someone who thinks like that. Just so you know, I think Buehrle is a great pitcher. Certainly not the best in the league, but a well-deserved All Star.
