QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 06:29 PM) Why is AJ batting 5th again?? Because KW doesn't want to mess with the team's "chemistry" and actually give his team a chance at a world title

QUOTE(quickman @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 06:25 PM) yes todays game will get out of hand, and Mcarthy will get shelled. sorry for the confusion. I thought it was odd, given how McCarthy has been handled by Texas and how long this game had been scheduled, that they didn't have BMac pitch in Seattle and back everyone up a day.

QUOTE(quickman @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 06:21 PM) but we don't need anymore offensive players. Look we don't match up well with these guys. mcarthy will get his ass handed to him tommorrow. its unfortunate. This game will get out of hand in a hurry. Look on the brightside, we will get to see the great baj! We don't. Pods is back. His bunt attempts and infield hits are worth at least 2 runs a game.

If you had the Rangers line-up and the White Sox pitching staff, you could get fitted for rings in June and it wouldn't be cocky.

I tell you something, Buerhle doesn't have many more runs to play with.

Hawk and DJ talk about almost every pitcher the Sox face as if they are peers of Koufax, Carlton, Clemens.

Griffey Jr.: 'I'm not going' to the White Sox
I would rather have Todd Walker on my team than Willie Harris who was recalled today as Crede went on the DL. The White Sox need to pick up someone who can hit or there will be no joy at the end of this baseball season.
-
Griffey Jr.: 'I'm not going' to the White Sox
Its amazing how many people were hoping the Sox signed Walker last winter, and not wanting him at all right now, and he has a higher average than anyone on the White Sox.

Caution....Pods stated he will not be 100% the rest of the season.

Baj recalled from Charlotte
Well the Baj fan club is going to be happy. Adkins was probably spent after pitching a lot yesterday. Baj will probably have to suck up some innings if BMac isn't effective. (I mean that as eat up some innings) Hopefully he is as effective as he was in Charlotte.

Griffey Jr.: 'I'm not going' to the White Sox
QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 12:31 PM) Im going to keep on hoping, despite the growing negative sentiment that keeps telling me that I am wrong for hoping. I just want SOMETHING done. Another bat would be nice to have.

Crede likely to go on the DL
QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 11:27 AM) If Pods is expected back today they would have to make a decision to put Joe on the DL today, no... Unless they send Anderson down.

Griffey Jr.: 'I'm not going' to the White Sox
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 11:17 AM) The good news is he thought the Indians were going to acquire Todd Walker. Another bat for Cleveland although if Levine said it, he probably is going anywhere but Cleveland. Do you know that any one of the first 6 hitters in Cleveland's line-up would be leading the White Sox in hitting?

Griffey Jr.: 'I'm not going' to the White Sox
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 11:03 AM) That means nothing absolutely nothing..... EDIT: Let me add I also don't think Griffey is going anywhere but just cause Ozzie said him and Kenny didn't talk about him doesn't mean anything. I would think if they are discussing the team and possible personel moves, it would mean a lot that he wasn't mentioned. People shouldn't waste their time listening to Bruce Levine. He is the ONLY person who has this deal anything but dead. Ken Rosenthal was on the Fox pre-game Saturday and he said there was no chance Griffey was going anywhere. His track record has been far better than Levine's.
-
Griffey Jr.: 'I'm not going' to the White Sox
Griffey is staying with the Reds. Its just Bruce's imagination that is keeping this alive. The Reds don't really want to trade him, and he really doesn't want to play for the White Sox. Guillen said he talked to KW about the team for 2 hours on Saturday, and Griffey was not even mentioned.

Show Thomas the love
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 08:20 AM) Wow, I never even thought of that. That's a good question. Why was he never there? I hope there's a satisfying answer out there. The guy is in a cast. If the other guys were in a cast or not rehabbing with Herm Schneider, they wouldn't be with the team either. If he were in Chicago, which we were lead to believe was to become his permanent home but evidently isn't, then I could see him at home games, but I'm pretty sure a lot of travel is discouraged in his current condition. Did he visit the team in Seattle? Nobody mentioned anything.

Anderson Demoted
QUOTE(Al Lopez's Ghost @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 06:09 AM) I would guess that even if Brian is "sent" down, he'd stick around until Thursday, so the fact that he flew to Texas doesn't seem significant to me. Charlotte's season doesn't end until Sept. 5, but why bother going back there for a couple of games. Hawk made a pretty good point yesterday regarding call-ups. Many veterans don't want many around. They make the planes and clubhouse a little more crowded, they cut into their first place money shares, etc.

Disturbing Trend
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 08:44 PM) I love how 'most' people on this board are wrong but you're right. Most would be more than half. I'm not the only one who believes he is overrated.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 08:47 PM) He'd be more valuable than Adkins as a late inning defensive replacemet or pinch runner. Adkins more than likely will not be used in the playoffs. Again, they need Adkins for this series in Texas. 4 games in 3 days against a loaded offense in oppressive heat, with McCarthy who has been lit up by them going Tuesday. Worry about defensive replacements and pinch runners for the playoffs when the team has officially clinched a spot in them.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 08:41 PM) So you have Adkins up for the next 4 games because you might need him. Meanwhile he becomes eligeble for the playoff roster (where he is not needed) and a player like Anderson becomes ineligeble. With Pods back, Anderson wasn't going to see any time in the playoffs. He had 1 great game. He knocked around a rookie phenom. He struggled against veterans, which is what he'd be facing in the playoffs. If someone gets hurt, he still may be added to the playoff roster.

Disturbing Trend
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 08:30 PM) There has to be some kind of move that KW can make to help the offense. Nobody can tell me that there is nothing at all he can do to upgrade something. I think it was you that I had this conversation with. Everyone is going to use the excuse of having Pods back as a reason to stand pat this deadline. Pods out isn't the reason this team is struggling on offense. I agree with you there. Pods is obviously better than Timo, but he's not nearly as good as most people on this board give him credit for, and its no guarantee he will remain healthy or start stealing bases again like he did at the beginning of the season. This team needs someone who can drive the ball and knock runs in. Everett shouldn't be a 3 hole hitter. Griffey would have been perfect, but that's not happening. I really doubt KC would trade Sweeney to the Sox or that he would approve a trade to Chicago, but this is the type of hitter they need. Supposedly they are looking at Ibanez, and while that doesn't excite me, its better than nothing. I'd even think about Nomar, although I doubt the Cubs would do the Sox any favors. When he gets hot, he puts up numbers like he's in little league. Chances are they will stay with what they have, which if it falls short will subject them to a lot of criticism, and as unfair as it may be we will be subjected to hearing how cheap JR is for an entire winter.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 08:28 PM) But would you rather have Adkins or Anderson on your playoff roster? Injuries sometimes occur, and the Sox still need an extra pitcher this week with no days off and a DH. Adkins sucks, but he was a godsend today, giving the rest of the bullpen a break.
-
Disturbing Trend
This team desperately needs offense. The starters at the infield corners today had combined for a whopping 7 rbi this season. It will be interesting to see how long the starting pitching is able to hold up. The intensity needed to hold teams to 2 runs or less usually takes its toll at some point. It would be nice to give them a break and bring in someone who could produce runs.

Anderson Demoted
Well, he won a game for us, and looks like he may become a pretty productive player. I would imagine he'll be back in a week.
