ESPN Player Page for Ponson says he is a sock
Wow, look at his salary on that page. Its over 2.5 billion. Steff talked to him, he hasn't signed.
-
Ticks me off
I agree. They have a great rotation, but you have to score in the AL.

I just heard on Seattle radio...
People said the same thing about Dick Allen

Report: Sox May Have Signed Ponson
I can't imagine the Orioles not signing him, after going after these other guys. No pitching would make them the Texas Rangers east.

Report: Sox May Have Signed Ponson
They have a huge edge. Hopefully, they sign a catcher and Guerrero and run out of money.
-
Brian Roberts or Jerry Harrison Jr. ?
Did you see Hairston's salary according to ESPN? They said he made 300,000,000.

I just heard on Seattle radio...
I think you could get Gonzalez for a whole lot less than $8 million.

Report: Sox May Have Signed Ponson
I would agree with that, its just that the guy in the NY Post had the White Sox as frontrunners for him with that same offer, and that was yesterday. Maybe the writer of this Cleveland column took the other one as gospel and went with it.
-
Check out today's NY POST
But one would question a rookie manager basically scolding a future Hall of Famer at his press conference to announce his hiring. It probably is BS, but who knows.
-
Joe Sherman
I don't know how to link it, but Joe Sherman in today's NY Post says Thomas has demanded to be traded. Says Guillen has requested that Konerko, Ordonez, and Lee get traded, and that the White Sox are the frontrunners for Ponson with a 3 year $18 million offer.

Spezio
He came up a secondbaseman with Oakland. He really hasn't played there for a few seasons, and I really don't know how he was defensively there. But he is a "grinder", and I think would fit in well in the line-up.
-
WHAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTT!
Winning isn't the cure all. The Cubs have been pretty brutal overall the last 10-15 years, yet have no problem packing them in. The White Sox had the best record in the AL in 2000, yet didn't draw 2 million, more than 500,000 below the league average.

Kenny Conceding this year?
Next year would be this upcoming season. By opening day, I believe the naysayers will be impressed with the roster.
-
Freddie Garcia for Big Hurt???
That's in a huge pitcher's park. It would even be worse at the Cell. If he quit partying so much, and had a better attitude, his numbers would probably get back to where they were before.
-
Sox likely to stand pat
KW could just be posturing. If other teams know he must get rid of players right away, he could never get any value in return.
-
Another scary rumor
I was thinking the same thing. He called the Clayton and Boomer Wells trades a couple of years ago. He said 3 years ago the Sox wanted Weaver, all as accurate as can be. Lately though, he has been way off.

Sportscenter
Phillips is the guy who assembled one of the worst teams in baseball on a $110 million budget. What does he know?
-
Carl Everett
Isn't there a way around it by signing a minor league contract? I could be very wrong.
-
Please tell me this is a joke.....
Why would the cash-strapped A's go after Wickman, especially since he hasn't pitched in over a year? This story is BS, I believe.
-
Season ticket re-up
I will be renewing, looking forward to batting practice at the Cell next spring.
-
Troy Percival on the block?
Isn't there questions about Percival's hip? Bo Jackson, Konerko, Percival, the White Sox would be the hippest team in the league.
-
Sox screw up one car funeral...again
There will be some more seats available. They screwed up, and had no idea the seats would be more popular outside of the park than in it. They will correct this, and you as a season ticketholder will get some seats.
-
Graffy leaving?
It would have been a sweep. Tony G is great off the bench, but when they played him for longer stretches, he got exposed, and wasn't nearly as effective.
-
Rumor
The Reds are dumping payroll and would like to get out of paying that contract. If Griffey hit 50 homers next year, and was healthy, they would trade him for a slew of prospects in a heartbeat. No one would trade for him now, especially your team's best player. His conract runs 3 or 4 more years after this season with a 4 million buyout, I believe after 2008. Even if he came back to his old levels this season, his recent injury history still makes his contract a terrible risk.
-
Rumor
This is a trade that will not happen. No one will trade for Griffey with that contract, until they see he is healthy, and can stay healthy, and, most importantly, is still an all star caliber player. This scenerio is a figment of someone's imagination.
