This is what I don't understand. This is exactly what was speculated from the get go. If the Sox were serious, they would have been there.

I guess Manny wasn't swayed by Moncada taking grounders at 3B.

I don't get the whole thing. J Michael Robertson saId Manny has been in the fold for weeks. Why are they working Moncada out at 3B?

It is. The Patriots guy said it's the day they BOTH become White Sox. Of course, we probably will hit a last minute snag which will delay the official announcement a few days.

It is not for negotiationing purposes. This was planned since last season, in fact Levine stated Moncada was moving to 3B. Until Machado signs, I would imagine that is where he will stay.

LMAO. A quarter of a billion dollar player who would rather play SS, and the Sox are going to get him to flinch by having Moncada take grounders at 3B. Get real. It isn’t like he has no other options.

I think year 6 is a bit long to make the playoffs on a rebuild when you had the trade assets the Sox did at the beginning and you only have to be in the top 3rd of the league to be playodd bound

Moncada playing 3b was something the White Sox have contemplated for awhile. And it's been discussed on this board several times. Machado isn't signed yet. Why are people freaking out over this? Maybe with some work, he's good over there. It won't hurt anything.

If he is signing for the most money, that is $13 million they could have given him. Apparently they don’t need his friends on other teams.

They probably would have been better off putting the money they spent on them, into the offer.

I like the chances vs SD a lot better than Philadelphia. IMO, this is working out from a White Sox perspective about as well as possible.

Since “being at the table” seemed like such an accomplishment, I don’t think they really knew this.

I don’t see where anything has changed other than the Phillies seem like they will be out. Did anyone really think someone would offer more and he would still be a White Sox?

This is good news. He is taking the best deal. So we will know if the Sox were serious, or just excited that a player would consider signing with them if they paid him a boatload of money.

Yeah kind of weird a guy with Machados godchild as a Twitter name would prefer Harper, and some minor league guy would have the details. Other than that, cool story bro.

I think Moncada get really improve with a slightly altered approach.. 7-130 with 93 strikeouts when he falls behind 0-2. Most have some tough numbers after that count. But that is almost unbelievable.

Again, if you go back to my original post, it all has to do with what Bowden said. I have no idea if it is accurate or not. But if it is.....

If it takes the Phillies off Machado, it helps.

First off, the 7 year old Deadspin articles sources were people upset the lying, cheating, despicable Lozano left their agency and created a new one I don’t know where you come up with desperate for cash. According to Forbes, he made $27 million the first 9 months of last year.. And with the White Sox being used, it had to do with Bowdens comment that he was never going to sign with a team that wouldn’t contend in 2019. If that is true, how were they not used?

Maybe not, but I am sure his agency makes up for that with lawyers and tax guys. It might be better to have a street smart guy who won’t flinch doing the negotiating. He has a pretty impressive client list.
