  1. John Orton is or was their minor league catching coordinator, and he is pretty good. He made Tyler Flowers actually major league acceptable.
  2. There are so many guys on the 40 that 99% will suck. Baneulos,Covey, Frare,Fulmer, Medieros, Ruiz, Stephens, Viera, Cordell, Delmonico, Engel. That's 11 right there. I think if the Sox wanted to they could run them all through waivers right now, and at most lose 4 or 5 of them, and they probably wouldn't care.
  3. I don't know how much worse it will be than 2018, and they had a 62 win team vs. the worst of the worst. So, it's fair to say that while they don't have as far to go as someone playing in the AL East to be really good, they have a really long road. It's a horrible baseball team that needs a lot to go right. Hopefully it will. Some are bound to improve. Hopefully to star status, but some we think can be great , aren't going to pan out. Then we will have the guys that got us to 78 wins, trying to acquire veterans to put the White Sox over the hump.
  4. To be fair, they actually got Bobby Bonilla for nothing. Rule 5 draft. Traded him for Jose DeLeon who they traded for the One Dog. Also, had they had kept Bonilla, they might not have been bad enough to draft Frank Thomas. So that actually worked out pretty well.
  5. No one will laugh if they offered the most money. Then they had a shot. I just hope this isn't a , "no one gave us a chance, but we had a chance, and didn't convert". If you have a chance, convert or STFU as far as I'm concerned. Every team has a chance if they are prepared to pay a ton of money.
  6. Yes, but things are fluid, so anything can happen.
  7. If a guy is trying to re-establish himself, pitching in the NL in SF is far more desirable than pitching in the bandbox on the South Side vs. AL opponents.
  8. If it's contingent on trading Pederson, why would a Pederson trade come after? But before or after, he's bound to be right.
  9. I went on the Paul Bunyan axe ride at MOM. It got stuck with us upside down for about 15 minutes. When I got out of there, I was green. My dad was laughing at me.
  10. When the Sox are good, you don't want Joc Pederson in CF with Eloy and another guy with not much range making out your OF. But for now, Pederson in CF wins more games than Engel in CF because Engel cannot hit. Pederson is fine in CF in 2019 when you aren't contending, but if he costs anything, as much as I have always coveted him, it really makes little sense. If you can get him for basically nothing, fine. It will make the team better.
  11. It was horrible, but if he actually turned around and played the ball, it was probably a pick six.
  12. I just don't see, A. why it would make any sense, and B. how it wouldn't come out pretty quickly. There are other teams negotiating. If you agreed to a contract, those negotiations would stop, and it would come out. They might not want anything to come out today, due to the HOF announcement. But more than a day or two, it would be next to impossible to keep secret.
  13. Exactly. They want to wait for Harper. If he doesn't sign with Philly, Machado has an excellent chance of getting an improved offer. It's not like the White Sox are in a take it or leave it position.
  14. If the 1 in a trillion comes in and the Sox get outbid by the Pirates, they will deserve everything thrown at them. But really, there is a better chance the Cubs move to Rosemont after they are done renovating than that happening.
  15. BTW, if anyone is interested, one year subscriptions to The Athletic are $24 today.
  16. What I am saying is if anyone really thinks Bummer and Fulmer alone will get the Sox Joc Pederson, maybe they should see if they could get Seager and Turner and Bellinger for Jose Rondon and Juan Minaya. It isn’t a realistic trade, and I agree, the Sox shouldn’t be giving up someone highly thought of for 2 years of control. So unless this is expanded like rabbit suggests, it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense for the White Sox, as much as I like Joc.
  17. I don't know the general consensus of Tony Romo, but he was on fire yesterday. Probably the most impressive performance by a color commentator I have ever heard for an NFL game. He was calling plays like Doug Collins used to do in his prime NBA commenting ysars.
  18. He is a 2-3 WAR player making $5 million . It would be impossibly surprising there wouldn't be a better offer than Bummer and Fulmer.
  19. All I know is if the White Sox had Pederson and traded him for Bummer and Fulmer , we would all be livid. That particular trade isn’t going to happen. I like Joc as much as anyone here, but he is going to cost a decent amount. Not a 100 loss team’s scraps.
  20. I think the Dodgers could do a lot better than a run of the mill lefty reliever, and a guy who has done nothing but struggle since he turned professional for Pederson. I could understand them taking that return if the Sox were taking Hill off their hands, but no way if bad money isn’t included. I would think either Hahn has to give up a guy like Basabe or Bush, or Joc won’t be playing for the White Sox.
  21. If Jon Jay helps deliver Machado, who the fuck cares is Avi is better? If he doesn’t, then it might matter.
