  1. I don't see where it would serve them any purpose. I just think it's either a case of accurate with a smaller number of suitors than hoped, or someone who has a track history of being great source to these guys, suddenly being way off.
  2. This makes no sense though. A. If the White Sox have a legit $250 million bid, getting everyone to believe it's $175 million accomplishes nothing. They still are $75 million in front. And if the bid actually is $175 million, Lozano doesn't want that out there. He's looking for $300 million plus. If there really was someone willing to go near there, you would think they would have had some extensive discussions by now. It's probably either accurate, or what guys who are usually accurate are passing along, and perhaps they are a bit off now.
  3. Plus they own half the neighborhood. Their cash registers are ringing all day and all night on home game days.
  4. He basically lived across the street from me. I had no idea until he sold his house.
  5. His second half was insane. 76 games 31 homers, 26 doubles .387/.451/.816 split. He almost had a 1.300 OPS the last half of a MLB season.
  6. Smart move. It would just turn into a meatball paradise. Listening to Cubs fans now, you would have no idea they won 95 games in 2018, and have averaged 97 wins the last 4 seasons. I hope Sox fans, if given the same opportunity, don't act the same way.
  7. When you are looking for $300 million +, the last thing you are going to do is broadcast the team that supposedly has the lead has offered not too much more than half of what you want. I just think there is misinformation both ways, and a lot more of it than there used to be. Some sources which have seemingly been good for years, might not be good now. Some new ones emerge, and there are a thousands of phonies who like to be considered insiders, yet have no info and either take a shot, come to some conclusion based off the sources they have liked, or in some rare instances, actually know something. Let's face it, we have had more posters on this board that supposedly know something about these negotiations, than any other negotiation or trade in this board's history. The fact is, there are people with the White Sox , relatively high up, that have no idea what is going on.
  8. The White Sox and Machado don’t know when he will sign. There is no chance someone on twitter does. They are all just guessing.
  9. Lazaro’s message said Olney and Nighty have been inaccurate regarding the details of the White Sox level of interest. Is that the offer, or is this whole thing phony, and the White Sox are chasing Harper?
  10. I usually defend Bruce a bit, but he seems to think the more money deferred, the higher the present day market value.
  11. Clearly mentioning a bid that low would do nothing for Machado’s camp .So if they didn’t leak it, who did? The one thing I would worry about is if they suspect the Sox are leaking this to try to suppress higher bids, if ultimately the bids are similar, they may hold this against the team. But it could be anyone leaking.
  12. If Lazano wants $300 million plus, he isn't leaking the Sox offer is $175 million. It's coming from the other side in order to keep any prospective bids low, trying to get them to think the agent is BSing when he is saying that is nowhere near the best offer.
  13. At least half of these guys haven't been more accurate than Dan Clark when it comes to Manny Machado. Which ones, we will find out in a day or a week or a month or two months.
  14. I caught myself too. Gonzo used to be the Sox beat guy.
  15. Would you trade Jabari and Dunn for Dennis Smith Jr. and Wes Matthews?
  16. The White Sox want this out there so the Phillies won't try to bid what they think, is against themselves. It's hard to imagine a 7 year $175 million offer would actually work. That would be crazy.
  17. If this offer is true, and they are still in the game, the Johnny Hustle comment cost Manny a ton of money.
  18. Now, but the NBA guys have been picking warm weather places for years.
  19. He is always going to live in Miami. Summer in Chicago isn't too shabby. In fact, it is the city that usually wins favorite road destination by MLB players. The Bulls get killed in FA because of weather. Who wants to spend winter here if the money is the same? But the baseball teams have no issue.
  20. For all we know, no one from Manny's camp will even speak to anyone from the White Sox, Phillies or any other MLB team today, and there still will be about 30 twists and turns.
