Sox Sign Jon Jay; 1 year/$4 mil, Charlie Tilson DFA'd
Dick Allen replied to soxfan49's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Maybe Jay being here will help him cover with Alonso when Manny wants to cheat on his wife. I'm sure it was discussed in negotiations. -
Didn't your source say Boras had nothing to do with this? Harper was running everything.

From a baseball and rebuilding prospective, I would prefer Delmonico and Leury, and Yolmer to Jon Jay. But if Jay gets you Machado, those 3 can go stratch. If Machado still goes to the Yankees, it's time for a change. -

When will they announce ARod being brought in to take Steve Stone's place? -
If we are all sticking to what we have all along, this doesn’t matter too much. If I was in Mannys position, my wife’s top 3 choices would be New York, New York, then New York. If I then told her besides taxes, Chicago is willing to pay me $50 million more, she would say promise me we can move to New York when you are done playing.

But really, are they going to get more? What difference does it make to these teams if he is making his decision today or next week or the week after? Until they know it's about to happen, their best offers are probably not on the table. If anything, he may lose a team or two and some leverage because if they are contending, they may have to move on.

I have heard it speculated that Harper and Machado are holding up the rest of the market. If it's even slightly true, wouldn't the players association be putting some pressure on them to sign something?

If he signs for 7 years, Bruce Levine is owed several apologies.

2018-2019 Official NBA thread

They probably only received money they will need to pay him. But this isn't so bad. Now the Rockets will owe them a solid down the road. There has to be someone from Chicago they can bring in next year, overpay, and wish they never signed before the exhibition season ends. Okafor maybe. -
Doesn’t matter. They ran with it. They just showed how minor league they are. if JR is in a box with someone, it won’t be at a Bears game. It won’t be at a Hawks game like some tried to sell with Harper. It’s Bulls, White Sox, or bust for games JR would be “entertaining “ clients or prospective employees.

It’s amazing the things people buy on Twitter. If Barstool is trying to be legit, they need to rid themselves of the person responsible for the tweet. But this one made no sense.

0 Looks like Steverson has been working with her.

Levine: Sox won't offer more than 7 years for either player

Jon Heyman is a well known Scott Boras pawn. Anything he reports on Boras clients is what Boras wants out there. Take it all with a grain of salt. -
2018-9 MLB off season free agency thread

I mentioned that, but look at the stories. He's moving great...he wanted to be a starting SS....I bet he's hurt or released before DiDi gets back, and that isn't going out on a limb. -

All the Tulo love around the league reminds me of the Freak love last year or the year before. At least Tulo makes the minimum, but he wasn't so good in 2017, let alone sitting last year out. To think he is a guy who can play SS every day is about as big of reach as Rick Hahn's Jimmy Rollins idea. -
This Dan Clark is obviously full of shit. I believed him because I couldn't understand what was in it for him to make things up. But it obviously wasn't a done deal, and just like the guy in LA, talked to a friend who probably gave him what he thought, not what he knew. I don't know exactly what my friends' every move would be. Now he is trying to still get credit for being the first to break something, even though his story isn't holding up.

He didn't call him out. If you look at how Heyman respoded, and read Bruce's tweet, they matched.

Jon Heyman is a Scott Boras tool. Always has been. If he is the source of the well over $300 million, it is what Boras wanted him to say. I do think that the Nats obviously have the most to lose with Harper signing somewhere else, and their ownership is probably the richest in baseball. So it wouldn't surprise me if he wound up back there. But it would surprise me if they were willing to risk losing him by lowballing him earlier, if they were prepared to go a lot higher.

Ask Scottie Pippen how his jet worked out for him.
