2018-2019 Official NBA thread

Check Stubhub for weeknight games. If you are willing to wait until the last minute, you will get something in the 100 level for less than $20. They do put on quite an experience, but I would imagine this is getting a little old for several people paying huge money. They better get decent by next year or IMO their ticket base is going to crater. -
I saw him yesterday, he said Phillies. His partner Chris said White Sox.
-
He deactivated so he wouldn't get any crap for not paying the charity.
-
They probably aren't paying anything close to $20 million.
-
It's beginning to look a lot like Harper must learn to like Philadelphia, which is where Nightengale pegged him all along. That leaves the White Sox with Machado. Just sign already and end this madness.
-
When the Rangers signed ARod, the Sox went bargain shopping for their extras and got themselves Royce Clayton.
-
Mike Lowell said something about Andujar yesterday on MLBN that I agree with. He would much rather have a player who can hit but struggles in the field , than a guy who can't hit but is a great fielder. He said there is a much better chance Andujar will improve in the field than a guy who can't hit learning how to hit.
-
I think ulimately DJ plays 2B, Gleyber moves to 3b, Andujar traded or 1B. Tulo SS. If Tulo can't hold up, Gleyber is at SS and Andujar stays at 3B. It's actually one of the scenerios Cashman mentioned during the Winter Meetings. Sign a 2B and move Torres over.
-
Dan Clark needs to employ Kellyanne Conway to spin this. Either that or pay Rick Hahn some cash to craft him a tweet. I can't believe I fell for that guy. I didn't even know he was in Austrailia.
-
I agree. They obviously had at least 2 sets of records, but whatever Shields' accurate records showed was very unlikely to kill the trade. The one thing he did do was hold up physically.
-
Yes, you would think with the teams he visited, he isn't going to play SS for the Yankees, he isn't going to play SS for the Phillies, and it's probably better off for the White Sox if he plays 3B. So I would think if the White Sox said you can play SS if you like, this would have been done by now if SS is the dealmaker some claim. Maybe it is, but the evidence right now is contradicting that.
-
Yes, you would think a SS with really good range would probably have that same instinct in the OF.
-
Chances are if you can play SS in the major leagues, you can probably play a number of positions. It's not a 100% lock, but a pretty good chance. He didn't play SS, but Craig Biggio was a catcher and outfielder before he became a 2B then he went back to the OF full time, before returning to 2B, and he made the HOF. . Robin Yount moved to CF. Tim Raines was a 2B.
-
Yes, but for now he is putting up sub .700 OPS in A ball and can't stay on the field, and except for the AFL , hasn't hit a homer in the US yet. Right now, he isn't on the radar until at least 2021. By then there will be other spots.
-
To me it's just too much movement. Hopefully, Manny signs, plays 3B, keeps TA at SS, keep Moncada at 2B. If Moncada's issues persist, and Madrigal is pushing at the door, maybe move him to CF. Or if TA takes a step back, then move him to CF and play musical chairs. I would guess they would want to sort this out as quickly as possible, and hopefully eventually either TA or Moncada is going to have to play the OF or 1B. That would mean Madrigal has developed and Manny is in the fold.
-
The good news is he was a +5 DRS as a SS with the Dodgers. So he is probably not as bad a SS as his overall numbers suggest. Some felt the problem was positioning. I guess Buck isn't into analytics. But playing 3B is obviously ideal.
-
It appears playing SS is going to be a thing. It would be much easier if he would just play 3B for his money. But moving Anderson to 2B or 3B shouldn't be an issue. It's a shame if he has to move though. He was really improving at SS.

Brother in Law and workout buddy trumps Orioles coach. I hope.

Nothing you haven’t heard. The lady from YES basically said if Maany wants the most money and years, it won’t be from the Yankees. She thinks he will have to sacrifice too much. They also hinted the Phillies prefer Harper.
-
Then they came back and it was White Sox, White Sox, White Sox.
-
Watching MLBN. They are about to talk Machado, The tease only mentioned the Phillies and Yankees.
-
If the Sox never traded for Shields, is Machado even a consideration?
-
What if he does an Instagram Cliff Alexander and shows the Chicago skyline a beef, deep dish, a hot dog with no ketchup, and then goes somewhere else?

They have Cano at 2B and Frazier at 3B. One of them is playing 1B or Frazier is getting traded. -
If he is signing before next week chances are it will be announced some time today or early tomorrow. People generally don't pay much attention to the news late Friday through the weekend.
