QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 9, 2017 -> 03:01 PM) <!--quoteo(post=3574048:date=Nov 9, 2017 -> 02:05 PM:name=StrangeSox)-->QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 9, 2017 -> 02:05 PM) <!--quotec-->"what's the big deal about child molestation?" Family Values Evangelicals are going to stick behind Moore just like they stuck behind Trump This guy is doubling down hard http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/alabama-...article/2640217 100% chance this guy's a kid-toucher He's definitely not helping kill the stereotype of a person from that state.
  2. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Nov 9, 2017 -> 02:30 PM) Feel bad for the women that go through this s***, like what are they supposed to do at the moment? Glad these scumbags are being exposed at least. Hopefully we never see them winning awards and being media darlings again. Now as long as the guy is whipping it out, they should whip out their phones and take pictures and post them or show them to the proper people. If you are in private, is it considered legal?
  3. QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 9, 2017 -> 02:20 PM) Profile came back with an apology. https://twitter.com/rschultzy20 I'm so sick of apologies. There are some that are true, but IMO, most of the time people apologize they are sorry for getting caught. If they hadn't, they would still be doing the same thing.
  4. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 9, 2017 -> 01:53 PM) Louis C.K. Crossed a Line Into Sexual Misconduct, 5 Women Say https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/09/arts/tel...l?smid=tw-share I don't see how he recovers from this, not that he should.
  5. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 9, 2017 -> 01:10 PM) Yeah only 3 years of control. I thought he had 4. I was mistaken. It does look like he may be the odd man out in Boston and the White Sox really, really wanted him a while back. The extra year and defense, I might still do it if I were Hahn. He could be flipped eventually or be part of the team when they are really humming. Might need DD to throw in a lottery pick though.
  6. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Nov 9, 2017 -> 01:07 PM) Yep that's what I said! That's what Trump said.
  7. Jose Abreu straight up for Jackie Bradley Jr. Who says no?
  8. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Nov 9, 2017 -> 11:09 AM) I'll cut Rutherford some slack because he is still young, but he will have to show solid progress in 2018 for the deal to not be viewed purely as dumping $20 million of Robertson's salary. I still think a huge motivation for that deal was to trim salary to help offset the Luis Robert signing rather than to get the best possible return I don't think so. I think they are really high on Rutherford. Hopefully he develops. I don't think anyone is holding their breath. He looks the part, just doesn't hit the part, at least yet. He seems to be the offensive version of a 6'5" 240 lb. pitcher who throws 88.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 9, 2017 -> 10:54 AM) By its very nature, if you don't have the real numbers, you can't be positive it is accurate. OK. But the one claiming it isn't somewhat accurate is you, so you must have some knowledge of what the accurate numbers are. Please post for all. I personally think the guy is a fool not to wait a couple of years. BTW, these numbers are now being reported all over the place. AP somehow got them from MLB.
  10. QUOTE (Nardiwashere @ Nov 9, 2017 -> 10:31 AM) I've never been but I've always wanted to go. I'd like to go this year just for the Hahn seminar and Hawk bobblehead. My problem is that I live a block and a half away, so I don't want to get a hotel room. Is there a way around that? Not to get the bobblehead. I don't need a hotel room either. It used to be if you were a season ticketholder, you could get a 3 day pass for about $25. Not anymore. I'll get a pass for Saturday most likely. It will be about $50 I'm guessing. I am not an autograph guy, but I always enjoyed the seminars even if they are pretty much fluff. By the end of January you could use some White Sox stuff, and the optimism is always nice that time of year.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 9, 2017 -> 10:44 AM) You must have a Trump's view of the word accurate. Whatever. You said it was wrong, show us what's right. But you won't because your post was to insult me and then you found out it wasn't something I created.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 9, 2017 -> 10:35 AM) I didn't realize you took it from a real source, as no credit was given. It is also still not known by your own words here. You would think the person that says something is inaccurate would have something that is accurate.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 9, 2017 -> 10:27 AM) That is kind of inaccurate. Quite a few teams have traded for international cap space that isn't exactly known. Perfect example, the Sox trade with Texas we sent them some amount of cap space which was never reported. It is supposedly based on what teams have already agreed to sign some guys, and estimates of bonus money traded. It's from Big League Stew. If you have a more accurate one, please post.
  14. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Nov 9, 2017 -> 09:06 AM) Because we need to de-emphasize higher education for the vast majority of people. Racking up insane amounts of debt isn't a good start to a career. I love the poorly educated.
  15. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 9, 2017 -> 09:13 AM) Breaking with longstanding US Presidential tradition of taking questions from the press in China as a message about free speech and free media, Trump lets China dictate that no questions be asked. https://twitter.com/kaitlancollins/status/928494673668296704 Remember when he was going to get so tough on China, declare them a currency manipulator and kick off a trade war? "We can't continue to allow China to rape our country and that's what they're doing. It's the greatest theft in the history of the world," Trump told a campaign crowd in May 2016.
  16. It seems the reason anyone would buy that particular plane is to fly a bit irresponsibly.
  17. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 9, 2017 -> 08:28 AM) That's a scary number for the other 29 teams, given everything else they have going for them. Yes, the only question would be would they truly let him do both, especially if they are in win now mode. .
  18. Here is what teams can offer him: Texas Rangers — $3,535,000 New York Yankees — $3,250,000 Minnesota Twins — $3,245,000 Pittsburgh Pirates — $2,266,750 Miami Marlins — $1,740,000 Seattle Mariners — $1,570,500 Philadelphia Phillies — $900,000 Milwaukee Brewers — $765,000 Arizona Diamondbacks — $731,250 Baltimore Orioles — $660,000 Boston Red Sox — $462,000 Tampa Bay Rays — $440,500 Atlanta Braves – $300,000 Chicago Cubs – $300,000 Chicago White Sox – $300,000 Cincinnati Reds – $300,000 Houston Astros – $300,000 Kansas City Royals – $300,000 Los Angeles Dodgers – $300,000 Oakland Athletics – $300,000 St. Louis Cardinals – $300,000 San Diego Padres – $300,000 San Francisco Giants – $300,000 Washington Nationals – $300,000 Detroit Tigers — $159,500 Los Angeles Angels — $150,000 New York Mets — $150,000 Toronto Blue Jays — $50,000 Cleveland Indians — $10,000 Colorado Rockies — $10,000
  19. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 8, 2017 -> 08:58 PM) So this was the response I was waiting for. How many of those incidents involved non-responsible gun owners, people with mental illnesses, or people with violent/criminal backgrounds? Yes, certain people shouldn’t be allowed to own guns. I have said this multiple times now. But how does RockRaines owning a gun and keeping it in a safe that only he can access put his family at greater risk? If responsible, owning a gun for self defense is nothing more than an insurance policy that you will hopefully never have to use. Where I live I don’t feel one is needed, but I know plenty of people who live in areas where having a gun for home defense becomes a legitimate consideration. The fact is not everyone is going to be responsible.not every mental illness is easily diagnosed, and some people get worse over time. Should you have to have a mental check up every year? I don't want a gun. If Rock thinks he needs one , that's his deal, it's legal. Hopefully the gun is never needed , and hopefully never fired except on a range or something. But stats show they don't necessarily make you safer. Good guys shooting bad guys doesn't happen as often as good guys shooting good guys.
  20. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 8, 2017 -> 08:35 PM) I have no idea what data you’re referring to or what point you’re trying to make. I own guns for hunting/sport (which I rarely use anymore) but keep none in my house so your theory that guns make me feel a certain way is odd. I’m simply speaking on behalf of people who feel they need a gun in their house for safety. Also, I have already said a normal gun was more than enough to function for home defense and assault weapons most certainly should be banned. So let me ask you this, are you suggesting that owning a gun for home defense is more dangerous than not owning a gun? If so, I’d love to hear more about this data you’re referring to, because I’m struggling to grasp how responsible gun ownership within one’s household would somehow decrease their safety. In 2012, there were 20,666 suicides involving guns, 8,342 homicides involving guns, 548 accidental shooting deaths, and 259 justifiable homicides defending the home. It appears that not having a gun around would be safer. almost 2 million kids live in homes with unlocked and loaded guns. Currently the stats are living in a home with a gun makes you twice as likely to be a victim of a homicide e and 3 times more likely to commit suicide. I am sure there are plenty of responsible gun owners that keep their weapons locked up and in areas their kids can't get access. But wouldn't that also work against having the weapon ready to go if you needed it right away?
  21. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Nov 8, 2017 -> 03:18 PM) http://www.twinkietown.com/2011/5/10/21633...hing-to-contact There's no evidence that pitching to contact actually leads to lower pitch counts or longer outings though. At bats that end in a ball in play do have fewer pitches on average than those that end in a strikeout, but while the latter is a guaranteed out (except for rare dropped 3rd strikes), many balls in play fall in for hits and will prolong the inning, so pitching to contact often actually leads to higher pitch counts, especially if you don't have a good defense behind you, which the Sox have rarely had. The problem is for some reason 100 pitches is a magic number. But the max effort to get every MPH out of yourself as possible, while maybe productive in the short run, I wonder how sustainable it is.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 8, 2017 -> 03:22 PM) I had to reread 3x to make sure there was no allegation against the Edge in there. That would disappoint me in humanity greatly. Nothing to worry about there. From what my mom and dad told me, he's a very nice guy.
  23. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 8, 2017 -> 03:12 PM) Well, didnt one of Trump's flunkies say changes at CNN are coming not too long ago? With this news, watch CNNs ratings go up, and we know who is all about ratings, except when they are his own.
  24. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 8, 2017 -> 02:37 PM) Turner being owned by someone else wouldn't change how profitable they are though, right? FT's headline "TRUMP DOJ DEMANDS CNN SALE!" is just so misleading. Out on their own and not with ATT and the rest of Time Warner probably would weaken them. They aren't selling Direct TV, so the administration basically is telling them to sell the unit that includes CNN or else. Maybe it's justified. I have no idea. But the thought of it being political is definitely there.
  25. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 8, 2017 -> 02:26 PM) I know that's the breathless FT headline, but in what way would AT&T selling off Turner Broadcasting hurt CNN? On the surface, I'm going to be in favor of actually enforcing some antitrust protections that have been neglected for far too long. Turner makes huge profits. Less money to throw into CNN which can weaken the station. It wouldn't bother me as long as the reason isn't based on perceived politics.
