  1. QUOTE (Quin @ Oct 18, 2017 -> 10:08 AM) https://apnews.com/d3bf716591bd49d4a8a86f229efe900f Non-white Gold Star families just shouldn't expect s*** from President Tiki Torch You mean he didn't do what he said he did? Shocking.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 18, 2017 -> 10:00 AM) then again if he were Michael Jordan, no one would say anything for decades. They didn't go to the hospital, and Michael Jordan made the Bulls money. If he broke some bones in someone's face and they missed 6 weeks, something would have happened to him. I was watching Kaplan's show last night and Bob Nightengale was on when they started talking about this. Fights in practice and clubhouses according to Nightengale are pretty common. They just usually don't get reported. And this one wouldn't have been reported if Niko didn't get severely injured. Kermit Washington got a 60 day suspension when he almost killed Rudy Tomjanovich back when the NBA had fights pretty often. Earlier that year, in a game between the same teams, Kareem Abdul Jabbar broke Kevin Kunnert's jaw with a punch, he also broke his hand, and got no suspension.
  3. QUOTE (Quin @ Oct 18, 2017 -> 09:47 AM) See if you can get anything for Portis, if not, cut him or send him to Windy City if you can. Yeah, if Portis was truly a building block, you suspend him for a couple of months but keep him around and maybe find a new home for Niko. He might turn into a decent player, but he's pretty replaceable. He'll fill rosters of the garbage teams for 10 years. Both are pretty replaceable. Losing either one or both will never cost the Bulls a championship.
  4. Frankly, I don't see how you can have Niko and Portis on the same team anymore. Fights happen, but this one went a bit too far. If Portis did this on the street, he would be in jail. If this happened with someone from another team during a game, they would be gone a long, long time. Portis needs to get at least 20 games IMO.
  5. 2 games ago, Cubs fans on TV were saying all they have to do is win game 2 in LA and they can clinch in Chicago. I hope they get swept so much. I do know that Maddon will be considered a genius if somehow they come back. Although they made it an additional round, they do remind me of the 2005 Red Sox. If you comeback from a 3-0 or 3-1 deficit in a series, even media keeps mentioning it if they are down like that again almost saying they have them just where they want them.
  6. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 18, 2017 -> 06:40 AM) Trump, the only President to ever call the family of a dead soldier, to widow: "he knew what he was signing up for." I wonder why he doesn't brag that Obama never tried to belittle a Gold Star family. It is amazing how many people who seem sane otherwise, just let all his crap go because of the R after his name.
  7. Cubs jacked up beer prices this round. &11 for a Budweiser.
  8. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 17, 2017 -> 08:12 AM) Rep Tom Marino withdraws from consideration as Drug Czar after it’s revealed that he pushed for the bill that flooded communities with opiates He's a fine man. He's not like those animals who were protesting Nazis.
  9. So the Liar in Chief says other Presidents didn't call families of soldiers killed in battle, but he not only calls them, he writes them letters. When pressed he says that is what his generals told him. BTW, he hasn't had time yet to call the families of the soldiers killed in Niger. He has written the letters, but hasn't had time to send them yet. But he has been able to get 5 rounds in since the ambush.
  10. During the campaign he moaned about the Christmas tree in DC being called the holiday tree. Laura bush had it called the holiday tree for a couple years but it had been back to a,Christmas tree for several years. Just more BS he keeps repeating people start believing. Its almost cult like.
  11. Alrighty then: “The country wasn’t based on executive orders,” said Trump at a town hall in South Carolina in February 2016. “Right now, Obama goes around signing executive orders. He can’t even get along with the Democrats, and he goes around signing all these executive orders. It’s a basic disaster. You can’t do it.” I wonder what happened to the greatest deal maker who ever lived.
  12. If Maddon has a nice roster, he wins. The other stuff, like petting zoos during spring training, as long as he wins, is considered genius. If he had a 76 win roster, he would get killed for it. If Lackey came in last night and got the job done, and he was able to use Wade Davis to close, and the Cubs won, they would have been kissing his ass all day today, just like they did when Ozzie brought in El Duque in Boston. If what probably 99% of people thought would happen when El Duque entered and the Sox lost, Ozzie would have been an idiot. They are different but they are the same. Both guys are/were gold for the media, and things get a little slanted to where they get/got even more credit than they deserved when their teams won. Joe amaddon seems like a pretty cool guy. I just doubt he is so much smarter about baseball than everyone else. He has been in good situations. When he started in Tampa, they were awful and lost, and they got awful again and lost so he fled.
  13. The guy is so obsessed with Obama. I wonder if it would be the same if Obama did exactly what he did but looked more like his mom. So he tweeted about Hillary out of the blue today, and had to mention Obama. He is a sick man.
  14. Trump is walking back all the times he said he would not benefit and the wealthy would not benefit from his tax cut plan . Believe me.
  15. Anyone have an Amazon echo tell Alexa to turn on WGN 720. OB and Hampton are on, you would think the Bears lost by 50. If the Bears are ever good again, they will have to cancel the show.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 15, 2017 -> 03:03 PM) Fox needs to be fired tonight At least the special teams coach.
  17. If they trade Avi, Jorge Soler. They really loved him when the Cubs signed him. His walk rate keeps going higher. He hits the ball in the air. He may be taking too many pitches, so pitch recognition, even though he doesn't swing at many out of the zone may be a problem. He is signed for 3 more years at about $13 million total so KC might be motivated, and .144 hitters who are a liability in the field don't cost much player wise. Probably a future DH.
  18. QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Oct 13, 2017 -> 08:28 PM) Ok, but how many did he get right? You’re not telling the whole story. It is funny one one of the companies he forgot he owned, he finally remembered later after he had profited between $5-$25 million.
  19. So Jared had over 100 errors and omissions on his security forms.
  20. QUOTE (raBBit @ Oct 13, 2017 -> 06:05 PM) How insured are you if you have a couple thousand in the bank and a 10K deductible? Trump promised lower deductibles, better care, and coverage for everyone.he doesn't lie. It's the media, except for Fox News. TFake news says he goes golfing all the time. He doesn't have time to golf. He is in the White House making great deals. No one has done so much in so little time than him. He really is great. If you have a 10k deductible, and your hospital bill is over 100k, the plan helps you out a bit. My friend who passed away a few years ago after an accident, once was complaining about his shoulders aching when we were at Cork and Kerry after a Sox game. He drove me home and the next day his shoulders were still sore so he went to the hospital. They did some tests and determimed he had a heart attack. He stayed one night, and had a stent placed inside him. The bill was $68,000. For one day. What if it longer and he had no insurance? He would have been ruined. He did ask the doctor if he had many patients his age who had heart attacks, he was in his mid 30s decent shape, non smoker, but bad family history. Doctor said yes but most of them smoked crack.. He had insurance through his employer so he was OK. But I would rather owe $10k than 68k.
  21. It seems Harvey was the brains behind the operation. I read where it was in his contract that all these sexual harrassment things were fine as long as he paid them off. So obviously, as long as they made money, no one in his company cared.
  22. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 13, 2017 -> 02:57 PM) That's not what happening here though. Harvey Weinstein didn't sponsor events and largely exist in order to promote sexual abuse, while the family research council makes hating LGBT a core part of their mission. If Michelle Obama spoke at events sponsored by nambla, she would rightfully be criticized for that association. Who you choose to associate yourself with does actually matter. It's the new wrinkle in the playbook. When Hillary isn't applicable or Obama.... Harvey Weinstein.
