  1. $11 billion spent as the fiscal year came to a close. If they didn't spend it, they lost it. Republicans say we can't afford anything, yet spend anyways https://www.forbes.com/sites/adamandrzejews...e/#3479ea637697
  2. It turns out it was CNN's fault. A forensic psychiatrist told Fox News on Tuesday morning that CNN was to blame for mass shootings like what transpired in Las Vegas. “I think that CNN’s going to have to answer how they demonize gun enthusiasts and how CNN actually contributes to mass shooting,” Michael Welner said. “And I think that they do.
  3. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 3, 2017 -> 12:45 PM) Definitely. More important than educating our children, providing healthcare, solving homelessness, and improving our infrastructure. It's the way Jesus would have wanted it. Yes, they can bring up Jesus when it comes to people being gay, abortions, etc. , but when it comes to helping the needy....what's his name again? They are all full of s***. If the US can afford trillions of dollars of tax cuts to people who already have more money than they can spend, we can afford decent healthcare for all, helping the mentally ill, improving infrastructure and taking care of the less fortunate. But damn Puerto Rico, what's up with the hurricane. It's screwing up the budget. I wonder when we will get sick of winning.
  4. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 3, 2017 -> 12:40 PM) Last week's $70B Pentagon funding increase to $700B total for the year could have paid off the entirety of Puerto Rico's debt and still had $11B left over. Planes to blow s*** up is far more important.
  5. Keith Olbermann says the NRA should be branded a terrorist organization.
  6. No way is it that high. The kid is 17.
  7. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 3, 2017 -> 09:23 AM) Look at those f***ing guns. What person needs those? What purpose does it serve? They did what they were built to do. Kill in mass.
  8. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 3, 2017 -> 08:52 AM) Kushner still inexplicably maintains a Top Secret clearance Hundreds of White House emails sent to third Kushner family account Considering the entire narrative about Hillary and emails, this is beyond hysterical. But next crisis, Trump will hold a rally, and Hillary and lock her up will be part of it. The republican playbook. They have everyone hypnotized. Get caught in a lie, some sort of BS you can't explain, mention Hillary. It's the "out" they use for just about everything.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 2, 2017 -> 05:57 PM) Would you describe the 9/11 hijackers or the Paris attackers as mentally ill? (nonsarcastic question). i Think anyone who wakes up in the morning and says to himself, I am going to fly an airplane into a building today is mentally ill.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 2, 2017 -> 03:18 PM) And have more silencers. He's just being polite. Why wake up the neighborhood when you are blowing a few people away?
  11. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 2, 2017 -> 03:22 PM) Technically at some point to do what he did, he had to be mentally ill. Seperate from that is whether he actually showed those signs elsewhere. I agree. Whether he had shown signs earlier is anyone's guess except those close to him, and there doesn't seem to be many of them, but he was 64, apparently had a successful career, and was living an easy life. If he was mentally ill for a long time he sure was able to hide it pretty well. and overcome. He doesn't seem to fit the profile, which is another scary thing.
  12. Price is another POS. I would love for a republican to call this s*** out. One of his final moves to hinder the ACA is the HHS’s shuttering of the federal health insurance exchange HealthCare.gov every Sunday for 12 hours during the open enrollment period, which goes from Nov. 1 to Dec. 15.
  13. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Oct 2, 2017 -> 11:23 AM) Frankly I'm surprised he isn't latching onto ISIS' claim that they were responsible. I have often wondered why he sends his prayers and condolences when some people are killed, but when they go down on the south side of Chicago and are a different color skin than him, it's "what the hell is going on in Chicago?"
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 2, 2017 -> 11:15 AM) Pretty sure its hard to shoot a gun without bullets. Whats done is done is a bulls*** cop out and so is trying to point at mental health as the cause. Back in February: President Donald Trump quietly signed a bill into law Tuesday rolling back an Obama-era regulation that made it harder for people with mental illnesses to purchase a gun. The rule, which was finalized in December, added people receiving Social Security checks for mental illnesses and people deemed unfit to handle their own financial affairs to the national background check database. Not that it would necessarily have prevented this tragedy, but 2nd amendment baby! The answer to gun violence is more guns.
  15. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Oct 2, 2017 -> 11:06 AM) None of this will happen or impact the presence of guns. What's done is done. The streets are littered with guns and gun culture is as American as Apple pie. That's not going to change. Addressing mental health is something that can make an impact. The rest is just drivel to employ politicians and distract the masses. Mental health and guns is also a political issue.
  16. Those crazy Puerto Ricans, have their entire island destroyed by a hurricane, and want everything done for them. Hey caddie, will you clean my ball?
  17. I really like Nick Madrigal. If he could develop a little power, IMO he may be the best player in this draft. He can hit, I've read where many think he can stick at SS. A smart player, a great baserunner, although doesn't have Moncada speed. I would worry about TA later, and let all that stuff sort itself out. But we will see what happens next season.
  18. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Oct 2, 2017 -> 07:31 AM) This is really easy guys. If they didn't think he was ready to play then he wouldn't be the #2 QB on game days. Yeah, I would agree making him the back up and saying he isn't ready totally contradict each other. But, if he did play up until now, he wouldn't have been gameplanned for, and it probably would have helped. The one thing they liked about Glennon was a lack of turnovers. That blew up in their faces.
  19. QUOTE (Wanne @ Oct 2, 2017 -> 12:55 AM) ok...I'll just say...I disagree with your opinion (that you keep repeating like a broken record). So your opinion is he's not ready (regardless of the fact you stated you'd like to see him start)...lol ok. Again...we'll find out next monday. But keep throwing out the word "irrelevant". You don't think guys like Hicks standing up and stating "changes need to be made and to make changes that put the team in a better position to succeed" aren't directed at Glennon and the coaching staff?!?!? hahahaa...geezus. If that's not a damning statement...not sure what to tell ya. I'd venture to say he's not the only one that feels that way...and whether you agree or not...those opinions do matter. And I'd venture to say they see it every day in practice...those comments are pretty telling I'd say. It's called "losing a team" from a coaches standpoint. Sorry...if you can't see that. And fyi...my answer as to why he should be playing is based on what I've seen from Trubisky to date and his abilities (as many others have)...in my opinion he's ready...and yes...he'll make mistakes. But won't look like an incompetent boob out there like Glennon has. So quit twisting my words to fit your narrative. Seems Watson is ready down in Houston with his 5 td passes today (and honestly he looked completely unprepared in preseason). Kizer...meh...bad example. Russell Wilson was ready. Jameis Winston was ready. Trubisky has shown he's very capable. If you think it's better to handle him with kid gloves...cool...your opinion. Again...we'll find out soon enough. No offense..but I like my option/opinion much better as well...and so does most of Chicago sans a few. If they throw him out there and he looks completely over his head...I'll admit I'm wrong. But I wont' judge on one game. But it's time to move forward with him... Why is Keizer a bad example? Is it because he doesn't fit your narrative? Tom Brady appeared in 1 game his rookie year. Brett Favre appeared in 2. Rogers didn't start his first 3 years. Admittedly, they weren't behind Glennon, but they turned out to be better than what they were behind. What the consensus is with the fans is irrelevant. Most loved they hired John Fox. Not anymore. Ryan Pace was praised constantly. Not anymore. There is no question as a fan Trubisky would be a lot more interesting to watch, be he is a guy who has started 13 games since high school. This isn't a playoff team. doing what will make him better next year and 5 years from now is more important than making the game more interesting for me to watch right now. It has really shifted. People wanted the Bears to lose, lose, lose for draft purposes. Now, they still have a s***ty team with no receivers, and no shot at the playoffs, but that seems to have changed.
  20. QUOTE (ptatc @ Sep 29, 2017 -> 04:25 PM) This is one theory. The problem with that is most pitchers back then didnt make it to the MLB. The got hurt in the minors. Only the pitchers that could tolerate that workload survived. That isnt an option today with more teams and more pitchers needed. I think its more that pitchees today focus too much on throwing too hard too often. There is no pacing themselves to gog deep in games. They burn themsleves out in 5-6 innings and put too much stress on the arm. I have always thought if there were no speed guns on scoreboards or on TV screens, the game would be totally different.
  21. Trump still hasn't implemented Russia, Iran, and NK sanction law.
  22. Trump twitter attacks San Juan mayor as she begs for help. Then it will be off to golf.
  23. The problem is the receivers will be the same. If they throw Mitch in there, he may do worse than Glennon. I feel sorry for him. Expectations are that he is a HOFer, and he has A York high school like receiving corp. Glendon has sucked. No one except maybe Jim Miller will tell you otherwise. But the Bears QB is set up to fail, just like Fox is. Fox has to win to save his job. They gave him a roster with little talent, and used their best asset on a guy they didn't want him to play. Belicheck could be named the coach tomorrow and they would still suck really bad. You will know the Bears are serious about actually winning when guys like Kevin White aren't counted on to remain healthy for more than 5 minutes.
  24. If he could be the White Sox version of Big Papi, that would be most excellent. But I am pretty sure he is gone if the price is right. They could always bring him back.
  25. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 29, 2017 -> 10:58 AM) Apparently Kelly hasn’t been able to get Trump to understand that Puerto Rico is part of the US. THEIR government is OUR government Just remember, when Stern asked them what 17 X 6 equaled, Donny Jr., Ivanka, and POTUS were 0 for 3. As smart as he claims he is... First of all, can you explain to us why Sudan was removed? And second of all, how does the travel ban work in North Korea that doesn’t allow their people out of the country?” a reporter asked, according to a White House transcript. “Well, the people ― yeah, the people allowed ― certain countries ― but we can add countries very easily and we can take countries away,” Trump replied. “What did Sudan do right?” the reporter pressed. “And as far as the travel ban is concerned, whatever it is, I want the toughest travel ban you can have,” Trump continued. “So I’ll see you in Indiana. We’re going to go over some more points that have not been talked about. Are you all going? Is everyone going?” I bet there are a ton of bankers laughing their asses off when Trump keeps bring up Puerto Rico's debt and how that will be handled.
