QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 20, 2017 -> 11:56 AM) Up until this past season, I never whined about this front office. I even defended them. Everything they have done is to deflect responsibility off of their terrible moves and put it on everyone but themselves. This isnt Magic Johnson nor is it Tony Larussa. This is a guy who repeatedly gets canned for wearing on players and front offices. Doug Collins is a brilliant basketball mind, but this is a sweet retirement-not-retiring gig for him. He even said its about being close and being able to watch Chris coach and also watch bulls games in the stands. Which is perfect. You have access to his basketball mind, yet he's distanced enough not to wear on anyone. Even the guys who he supposedly wore out, later realized he did them some good. Michael even hired him in Washington to coach. But, I'm with you if GarPax don't listen or if Collins doesn't have the Reinsdorfs' ears well enough to where if he says one or both have to go, and one or more will go, nothing will change. It's better than nothing. Gar being replaced by anyone, IMO would be better. Pax shown the door, would be better. But it's something. To me Doug Collins is a basketball genius. He was probably a little too intense to be a long term coach. I remember when he coached the Bulls and was sweating harder than the players. But nothing bad can come of this except nothing, and we were already sitting here with that. -
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 19, 2017 -> 02:46 PM) It's disappointing that Josh Bellamy gets to drop multiple balls every game and keep a job when other WRs keep getting cut. I know he plays ST well, but he has actually had to play a lot of WR the last two seasons and it has not been pretty I totally agree. At mimimum a professional football receiver should be able to catch a ball.

Peanut Tillman training to become an FBI agent.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 19, 2017 -> 02:39 PM) These people are f***ed up and anyone in favor of this bill is f***ed up. What better way to close the divide between the rich and poor than to take away health care from the poor and give the rich a big tax break? If that won't Make America Great Again, what would?

Tanner Gentry waived. Looks like Wheaton is coming back or the Bears have a problem with receivers who actually catch the ball.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 19, 2017 -> 10:17 AM) I'm presuming both. I'm guessing it is someone that Pax (and JR) think they can trust who can give them a straight story. Hopefully Pax was on board bringing him in because that will make it a worthwhile role...if he was brought in by JR to be a spy, that wouldn't work well, but I also just don't see Collins doing that. Which is interesting. Collins was initially hired many years ago by Jerry Krause to scout the Bulls independently. Krause, which I think is genius, wanted an opinion from someone with no horse in the race, on his roster. He was so impressed, he made him the coach. I don't think he will be replacing anyone. He's 66. I think this job with the Bulls and watch NU hoops pretty much does it for him at this point. Maybe he's the next Jerry West. He might be the one to get through to the Reinsdorfs that at least Gar (I also think Pax is a problem) needs to be doing something else. -
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Sep 19, 2017 -> 01:32 PM) Also likely won't trade nearly as many guys. Yes, but there will be injuries, innings limits, and more crap in the bullpen which will have to be swapped out.

Its' going to be everybody and a few more. Not counting Brantly, the White Sox have used 30 pitchers this year. Expect more of the same in 2018.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Sep 19, 2017 -> 11:28 AM) I meant at Obama's behest. As in Obama asked them to do it. Which is exactly what Trump tweeted. He added Obama was a bad guy because of it.
-
QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 19, 2017 -> 10:48 AM) Was it bad when they wiretapped blago? Blago is a democrat. Of course not.
-
Anyone see that deal at the Military event last Friday where Melania introduced Trump, and then they shook hands? Her check was probably short or late this month for a cheek kiss.
-
The all time home run record for a MLB season should be broken tonight.
-
Trump was right. Oh wait, he isn't Paul Manafort. POTUS doesn't have the authority to authorize a FISA warrant. All that work going back and finding posts for nothing. Trump was full of s*** then just like always. He said Obama was a bad guy because he wiretapped his phones.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 18, 2017 -> 03:16 PM) Just when I was thinking "at least the Trubiskey pick makes the bears potentially interesting at some point this year," you remind me of why I hated it back when it was made. The good news is many of the "experts" who questioned the pick and have seen him practice and play, say he is much better than they thought. I just think the guy should be handled with kid gloves. He is their hope. If something happens and he doesn't work out, this mess is going to continue for a long time. Pace has set this up for it to be Fox's last season. It was going to take a miracle for them to be a playoff team. He didn't spend a whole lot of their cash. He didn't bring in many weapons. Assuming Fox is gone, the next coach is going to get all the gifts. Trubisky more ready, another high draft pick. And he will more likely than not, pick up some offensive weapons in free agency.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 18, 2017 -> 03:04 PM) Things change quickly for teams every season. Especially if you have a competent quarterback. The Raiders went from straight up trash to pretty good while letting Derek Carr learn on the way 3-13 7-9 12-4 Carr's first 3 years and the Raiders' record. I would think Trubisky is in a similar spot.
-
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 18, 2017 -> 03:00 PM) Are the Bears a playoff team next year if Trubisky is ahead of the learning curve? He'll probably be with a new offensive coordinator and a new system.
-
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 18, 2017 -> 02:46 PM) Bears because of injuries are between a rock and a hard place at the QB position, I see both sides of the argument on MT. If there were possible playoff implications, I would say, throw him out there. But anyone thinking that is just kidding themselves. Besides their schedule, teams that start out 0-2 make the playoffs 10% of the time. This roster doesn't inspire confidence it is one of the few who overcome that.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 18, 2017 -> 02:26 PM) Why subject him to those defenses? Kid has to learn what he is looking at, and neither of those defenses is better than Minnesota, who Trubisky would theoretically face twice. You can't coddle him and try and find a soft landing spot. It isn't there, this is the NFL. So next year there is no learning curve, he is ready to go. It isn't a rush if he is better than Glennon. And he has an offense to work with, he has good tight ends and running backs, but they are being marginalized because defenses are teeing off on a slow quarterback I still don't see the rush. I'm pretty sure this coaching staff knows if they don't win they will be unemployed, and they see these guys a lot more than we do. If they don't think he's ready, but he is, then why are they coaching? Glennon sucks, but Mitch is probably going to suck too if he is always under pressure, and has no receivers who can get open or catch the ball.

Are we allowed to get nervous about Moncada at this point?

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 18, 2017 -> 02:03 PM) There are a million reasons why Steverson didn't mention it and Abreu did. To overthink how it happened will cause a brain aneurysm. Be glad it was suggested by anyone and move on. Yes. A similar thing happened in 2005 when El Duque had a talk with Jose Contreras. He got him to pitch like he pitched in Cuba, and Contreras became the ace. Who knows what this lighter bat will mean in the long run? Right now it looks promising, but September games against bad teams isn't much different than spring training. I'm hopeful it means more contact, because if it does, it probably is going to be hard to keep the kid off all star teams. -
Brad Biggs seems to think Trubisky takes over after the Packers game. Thursday night vs. GB then they play 11 days later. He said there are 3 extra practices, and that could be the best time for him. I just wonder what happens if Trubisky comes in and plays like a guy with the experience he has. Yesterday's game was bad, but IMO, it is going to get worse before it gets better, and he is being set up to struggle. They couldn't count on White. You have to figure someone else would get hurt. I wish they resigned Alshon. I see no reason to let him go. They had plenty of money and he wasn't that expensive.

I think we should be nervous about Beck and Covey. Maybe Coop can fix em.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Sep 17, 2017 -> 07:46 AM) Come on dude. Is .007 in BA that big of a difference? Gregg deserves some credit for coming around on TA. Between 3 and 4 hits.

JD Martinez had a 389 BABIP in his 2014 breakout 4 WAR season. He had a .339 BABIP the next season with a 5 WAR. Avi is unique. Most guys with his exit velocity hit more home runs and don't run as well as he does. I do think he is a guy who isn't going to run well long, but I do think the homers are coming. It's the next step.

The M&M jacket must stink.
-
The two things no one will argue about are Avi has a ton of ability, and he gives max effort. It doesn't mean it will translate into multiple all star appearances, but it does help.
