  1. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Sep 5, 2017 -> 02:44 PM) Shields has been relatively decent his last 6 starts since he dropped his arm angle. Definitely not great, but decent. Probably worth keeping him around in hopes someone will take him off our hands next summer. Super unlikely, but oh well. Yeah, as long as you are paying him, you'll always need someone to eat innings, and if you aren't going to win, his mediocrity is fine as long as it doesn't get too out of hand. Like you wrote, since he changed arm angles, he has been a bit better. I actually saw a 94 on the board yesterday. The HR will still kill him.
  2. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 5, 2017 -> 01:57 PM) Do we know how that happened? Was he extremely lucky to start the year or was there an injury or velocity drop? He lost all his control, and became meat.
  3. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 5, 2017 -> 01:41 PM) Holland's ERA on June 1 was 2.37. 9.32 after. Yes. It probably was the worst 3 month stretch a starting pitcher ever had without being yanked from the rotation for the White Sox. Jaime Navarro might have been worse overall. I do recall a game when he gave up 8 or 9 runs that he actually complained about run support. But I doubt he had a stretch that bad that long.
  4. Colleen Kane is moving to Bears coverage for the Tribune. Former Blackhawks beat writer Chris Kuc, is going to be on the White Sox beat.
  5. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 5, 2017 -> 01:05 PM) Finally over. The tank season couldn't have happened without his contributions but maaaaaaaan was it hard to watch The incredible thing was he was really good for a little while, then was about as bad as can be for about as long as you will ever see on a major league team before he got the boot. Even tanking teams pull the plug a little faster.
  6. Baseball-wise, it made no sense to keep throwing him out there except to help the team lose, and I don't think they consciously want to do that, even though at this point, it probably is the better option. Although Covey is the same thing, with Beck. Fry probaby will be a gas can. Holberg will start, go 3 or 4 innings .... Give Holland a extra month off, and maybe someone gives him a chance next year.
  7. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 5, 2017 -> 12:29 PM) Even Trump, the man you support, knows the wall is asinine and would be ineffective. He just wants it for ego purposes. He can talk about and admire the stupid wall. I wonder when Mexico is going to cut a check.
  8. His BABIP will go down when he changes his launch angle a bit and these liners go over the wall. It's already changed some. Yeah, he still swings at his share of bad pitches, but so do a lot of hitters. The guy is hitting .325, and was pretty decent the second half of last year as well. It amazes me how any little success with some players causes some to break out the baby oil, but with guys like Avi, a season and a half of not being this horrible player they pegged his as being, hasn't at least made them shift off their stance at least a little bit. There was upset the Sox gave him $3 million to play this year. Avi needs to change his name, then any past suckage will be forgotten.
  9. DePaul should be able to recruit a bit better. It's a decent school. They play in a decent conference. Their campus is nice in a big city, and now they will play in a new gym. It will never be like it was back in the day when they were on WGN and there were only a couple national broadcasts a week. But it should be better than it's been.
  10. Harvey has been a wonderful thing. A lot of happiness in Houston. Is he serious? Also they are already walking back is $1 million "donation" from his "personal" money. Maybe the Secretaty of State in Texas told him he would prefer prayers.
  11. Abreu out again. 20k Buehrle bobble heads was the giveaway last night. Not even 18k in attendance. I don't recall ever seeing that for a bobble head giveaway, but Labor Day weekend is always a tough draw for the White Sox. Many families go for a last summer fling.A few years ago, my cousin had a few patio party tickets on Laor Day weekend vs. Boston. There wee no more than 20 people total in the patio party area. Edit, Abreu now DHing.
  12. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Sep 3, 2017 -> 07:57 AM) The Bears are in the wrong era with that roster. Jesus. 5 TE, 4 RB. And a full back! I doubt that will be what it is like in 4 hours.
  13. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 2, 2017 -> 01:48 PM) Rymer Liriano has been added to the 40-man. He thanks Leury Garcia. I am confused. Why did they put Leury on the DL? Rosters have expanded. Maybe there is no way he can play in 10 days, but isn't it pretty unnecessary?
  14. 63-65 4.22 ERA with the White Sox. I hope the Sox young guys are better than that.
  15. Anytime they want to fix this audio will be fine by me.
  16. Donald Trump should never be investigated for any crime no matter what because.....Hillary Clinton. Donald Trump should never be criticized for any failure while in office because.........Barrack Obama. It is amazing how well these excuses work with many republican voters. They do not care about accountability at all.
  17. Still hung up on Hillary. LMAO. This guy is scared and his bully tactics aren't working. Donald J. Trump ✔ @realDonaldTrump Wow, looks like James Comey exonerated Hillary Clinton long before the investigation was over...and so much more. A rigged system! 6:56 AM - Sep 1, 2017
  18. Trump allegedly donating $1 million to the relief effort. Wants everyone to know, and is asking the "fake news" bad people where to donate, because obviously, being there and getting a "first hand" look at things, he has no idea. And his brilliant son Eric said CNN won't even mention his dad's generosity. They ran it on their station and tweeted about it 3 hours before this prodigy said he didn't think they would ever mention it. I hope this investigation gets the Trump Organization in a bunch of trouble.
  19. Next season is going to be interesting. With Detroit in full tank, and KC going to be bad, and right around .500 keeps your playoff hopes alive, a few breakouts, who knows. The Sox schedule will feature too many games against horrid teams next year to assume a top of the draft pick anymore.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 1, 2017 -> 07:09 AM) Anything you get for Gonzalez is a bonus. I am shocked this happened literally right after he pitched, but very happy. The kid sounds as raw as they come, and hasn't really advanced since he was drafted, but hey. It's a lottery ticket. The fact that he pitched showed the Sox didn't think anything was going to happen with him. The injury risk at this point is very minor, but the other team gets him for a month, and now he's not available for several days. Not that any team would ever think of Miguel Gonzalez as the savior, but you would think if you were acquiring him for a month, you would want him available from the start.
  21. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Aug 31, 2017 -> 11:24 PM) Statistically, he looks like a F hitter. Can't get close to .700 OPS at any minor league level. Maybe the scouts see something. Didn't expect much though. Probably, but I doubt teams were tangling top of the line prospects for 4 weeks of Miguel Gonzalez. Chances are, when Hahn's time is done and they go through all his trades and signings, this is one most of us will forget ever happened, but so what? One of these times, the White Sox will strike gold with a guy like this.
