QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Aug 28, 2017 -> 09:15 AM) Can you give any specific examples for any part of this post. I'm genuinely curious. Javy Vazquez Francisco Liriano Tommy Kahnle went to the minors, where Coop isn't and figured out how to throw strikes. Coop's a genius. Tyler Clippard having a decent 10 innings....Don Cooper. James Shields, Derek Holland sucking more than they ever have...nothing Coop could do. For some reason, I doubt Chris Sale is a #5 starter without Don Cooper. White Sox trying to win with a depleted roster and lose, manager sucks. White Sox leading off a done Darrin Erstad and can't hit... obviously the hitting coach sucks. Not only that, but Coop has been on the radio many times ripping White Sox fans and their refusal to go to games. If a poster says something like that, they get rebutted like crazy, but Coop? Not so much. There are hundreds more.

It's amazing just how bulletproof Coop is with the fan base. No other coach has ever ripped fans for not showing up more than he has. He gets all the credit for any success his pitchers have, and gets no blame when they suck. Every other coach and manager, it's pretty much the opposite. All the blame when they suck, it's all the player when they do well. A guy goes down to the minors and starts throwing strikes, comes back and Coop is a genius. A guy sucks with the White Sox and goes on and becomes a decent pitcher elsewhere...not Coop's fault. IMO, the reality is somewhere in the middle, he's a good pitching coach, but not this treasure he's made out to be.

DL. Rob Brantly now a White Sox.

Renteria called it a bruise.

No way MT starts week 1 vs. Atlanta with that defense and a week to prepare. Glendon does outplay him in practice according to reporters, so while it looks like his future is bright, throwing him to the dogs right away probably isn't a good idea.

QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 25, 2017 -> 07:09 AM) Did you read the article, greg? Was he the only black person besides those in Trump's traveling party there? Amazing he got to sit right in back and in the camera.

It's a shame, but let's face it, does it really matter if this is career ending? He's obviously a bust.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 24, 2017 -> 09:26 AM) I think its pretty clear at this point that there was no changing his base's mind. No doubt, but his base wasn't enough to get him elected.

Hillary's book where she writes about the debate where Trump appears to be stalking in back of her and he wasn't "impressed. Beleive me." She now says she was thinking "back up you creep" which is probably not true. But if she would have said it, I bet she would have won the election. It would have spun Trump so crazy, and people would have probably appreciated he stood up to him.

I think the Irving is the best player so Boston wins, but it was a good deal for Cleveland. They weren't going to win a title as they were constructed. IT, IMO, isn't as good as Irving, but he's still good. I've never been a Crowder fan, but he's serviceable, and you don't need him scoring when IT and Lebron are on the floor, the center is OK, the pick could be gold, and on top of it, they save $30 million in luxury tax. So they did what they had to do. Just in the NBA, when you are not tanking, it almost always is whoever gets the best player winds up "winning" the trade. If the Bulls really want to mess with DWade, they should play him 38 minutes a night. That will get him to want a buyout a bit sooner. -
Tom Skilling cried on the air.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 23, 2017 -> 08:15 AM) As Trump ranted and rambled in Phoenix, his crowd slowly thinned Honestly, it doesn't sound all that more insane than any of his daily campaign rallies were. It's just that's still a really high level of insanity and now he's doing it while he's President. Shame about the police shooting peaceful protesters with tear gas and rubber bullets, though. It seems these rallies are just to appease his ego and have the basket of deplorables cheer him on. On one hand, you can't hold it against him if this was a campaign rally, but the guy is the President. He can't act like this. The night before he reads about how the country needs to come together, but this was all about the exact opposite. And the lies, OMG the lies, or at least the deceit. His take down of McCain was ridiculous. His accomplishments...insane. His threatening to shutdown the government until they agree to fund the wall (where's Mexico) crazy. He also tried to get the attendees riled up by claiming the dishonest media turned the cameras off. He clearly isn't fit for the job, and as much as I think Pence might be worse in many ways, this guy can't have the nuke codes. He needs to go. One thing I noticed is many of these attendees are like Deadheads. They have been to multiple rallies. I really don't know what his handlers are thinking setting these things up unless they are to the point they want him exposed. It just makes him look nuttier.

QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 09:03 PM) http://www.cnn.com/2017/08/22/politics/mit...ship/index.html http://freebeacon.com/politics/trump-mccon...shouting-phone/ While I love those 2 idiot fighting, it is hysterical Trump blames him for not getting it done. If it got done, all the credit would go to Trump. For a guy who learned everything there is to know about health care in a very short time, he sure did sit on the sidelines during that time.

I am surprised. Usually 7th round picks are stars from day 1.

Irving is by far the best player. It's a win for Boston. Although the draft pick is something. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 01:25 PM) According to Knights twitter, Giolito will be the 18th player from Charlotte promoted to the White Sox this year. He will also be the 27th pitcher the White Sox have used this season. -
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 01:09 PM) I would agree with you on all things, except Fulmer. He is a bust. His stuff is just not good. Don't know what happened, but he lost something. I wish he were hurt cause I'd at least have a reason for why his stuff become so non-existent. I've seen zero flashes of "special" out of him. I also think it tends to be easier to evaluate pitchers then hitters (as well). He's a bit off, but it isn't like he was throwing 89. I wouldn't write him off. He needs to find a way to throw strikes like Thornton and Kahnle. I don't know if it will happen, and am sure his head is probably pretty screwed up right now and probably overloaded. His talent is still there IMO, but when you are always behind, its a double whammy because you have to lay it in there, and guys won't swing at stuff out of the zone. Just like a hitter, he's got to get himself better counts, and he needs to convince himself he can consistently throw strikes. I really have no idea why they called him up. He was set up to fail.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 12:56 PM) Every season from Jose is a bit different from the one before but he's pretty consistent to say the least. He has the 9th highest wRC+ and wOBA in the AL since joining the league. He's also 8th in PA since 2012. He plays all the time, he contributes all the time and he seems like a great guy. He's certainly atrocious defensively, but otherwise he's everything we could have asked for when we started wishing for him this time of year in 2013. His defense has been a lot better lately. Not the gold glove level the broadcasts are trying to sell, but at the very least, acceptable.

The ridiculousness of this thread though shows you all you need to know about young players. It was created less than a month ago when Rodon was coming back from injury and it's titled, Can he become a quality MLB starter. That's not even ace or #2 or probably not even a decent #3, because he got lit up when he wasn't really ready to be 100%. Now it's extensions... Maybe every fan base is like this with young players, but guys need experience, and it isn't always going to go well. Sometimes it not going well for a while is better for them in the long run.

Giolitto better look awesome tonight, or he's a bust as well. Did you see what he did last year? Moncada, Fulmer, Collins....confirmed busts Lopez, huge questions. ERA over 6.00 and hurt.....most likely bust Giolitto, big game tonight will determine his status....very well could be a bust. For people who wanted full rebuilds, the patience is amazingly short.

I hope for his sake he was joking, but Tucker Carlson on Trump looking at the eclipse without glasses: “In a move that is not a complete surprise, he looked at the sun without any glasses,” Carlson gushed. “Perhaps the most impressive thing any president has ever done.”
