  1. s***ty day in sports all around in chicago...all we need is a comeback.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ May 9, 2010 -> 08:25 PM) I can't believe that Joe Morgan said that Frank Robinson is most underrated superstar of all time. I was sure he was going to say it was a white player. Jimmee Foxx no further discussion to be had.
  3. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ May 7, 2010 -> 12:55 PM) It wasnt meant to be a real senario. Just a thought experiment: What if you committed a large sum of money to facilities then they just walk away 1 year later. I bet you'd be pissed. I am sure it would cost them a ton on money to "walk away" from Glendale. This is shortsited grand standing
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ May 8, 2010 -> 10:36 PM) BTW, Ozzie hopes to get Omar Vizquel more ABs. Says he's doing a fantastic job. Guillen really thinks the flippy hit thing is important to manufacturing runs than taking pitches and making pitchers work. I really want to punch the grindy originator in the head. per the trib "His job is not to hit .350, his job is to do what he's doing right now — play third base, play second base, play shortstop a little bit. Omar has been great. He is what he is, and it's not easy. Especially early, maybe a little later he'll play some more. He has been very professional, and I'm very excited about having him." .... So young guys who do not know the MLB just yet are expected to handle this but for Omar it is not "easy........
  5. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ May 8, 2010 -> 10:11 PM) Yawn. He didn't give up the lead. It was a bold move to give Mark some confidence. He needs confidence????????? it was 3-2 then 3-3 the Sox did not lead anymore.....
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 8, 2010 -> 09:43 PM) 98% of casual baseball fans have no clue that Aaron Hill and Adam Lind combined for 71 dingers last year. Put them in Boston, Chicago, LA or Phillly, they'd be famous. Which makes them Almost Famous
  7. Toronto is a very good team and the Sox have played them straight up which makes last nights game a kick in the nuts I am struggling to shake off.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ May 8, 2010 -> 08:50 PM) Nice win, let's go out and get the split tomorrow. If you have facebook go out there and post how wonderboy has taken a 3-2 game and made it 7-2....oops 8-2....Big Z serving it up Now the Sox are doing the talking to the crowd at the end of the game...maybe just because it is fireworks night
  9. That man has some sick s*** out there
  10. Gotta say the jays make a pitcher work they are like poors man Boston/NY
  11. Castro cost the cub two runs with an E6
  12. Hang a star on that one.
  13. QUOTE (TitoMB @ May 8, 2010 -> 08:28 PM) I disagree with Peavy being left in here, but its obvious to say that now. I agree totally. He needs to throw first pitch fastball strike if he was to stay in the game. Which he did to retirethe next three. Santos for the 9th is BS if he is not going to be able to pitch tomorrow although it should make for a quick ending. My 5 year old son is at the game and is seeing another good one. He saw the M's Sunday sweep as well.
  14. Gonzalez and buck are killing this team. They may want to adjust the scouting report although that was a hanger.
  15. nady just drew a bases loaded walk I say this because during the Sox game they just ran a you are watching chicago cubs baseball add.
  16. See now this is what you do to pitcher that can not throw strikes. Why do you bring in a guy to intentianally walk a guy, I think that is dumb. Thew ramirez f*** up is still ticking me off though.
  17. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ May 8, 2010 -> 08:10 PM) Could always bring in Linebrink. I supposse that is an "option"
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ May 8, 2010 -> 08:07 PM) That a boy Andruw! Simply hammered that ball Really is sad that with Jones/Konerko/Rios doing this the Sox are in the position they are in as I do not think they will keep it up, actually Rios may....so if/when Quentin and Beckham get going one of these guys will cool off and we will have the same situation with different culprits (i.e. Dye last year after the ASB)
  19. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ May 8, 2010 -> 08:06 PM) Does Jake still pitch the 8th? Do we wait til the 9th before we go to the pen and get Jenks? Last night and tonight should have been the same formula Thorton Jenks Thing is Thorton is unavailable so it should be Peavy Jenks but I would like to see Santos Jenks.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ May 8, 2010 -> 08:04 PM) No bat speed for Beckham. He's not turning on the inside fastball. Didn't see the first two ab's but that last one was just brutal.
  21. QUOTE (jeffro2525 @ May 8, 2010 -> 08:02 PM) How about a multiple RBI game for Gordo? nope
  22. Alexi Ramirez is just a stupid stupid baseball player
  23. Last night's strategy didn't work in the late innings wonder what guillen has in store tonight.....
  24. Miserable weather, miserable team As was pointed out all offseason Vizquel will get way too many at-bats this year. People can talk all they want about players needing to produce the fact is the manager needs to put the right players in as best position as possible to succeed.
  25. I think LD% and walks go hand in hand. The more selective you are the harder you are going to hit the ball. When you swing at pitches that are out of the zone or pitchers pitches early in the count you are going to make easy outs. This the thing I think the Sox do not care about and hence the numbers are what they are and will continue to be. A 2-0 pitch does not need to be swung at just because it is a strike.
