Sox Loss Postgame Thread
Ozzie needs a bench coach that can assist in strategy. He has never choose to have one for some reason. The really odd thing is the leftie/rightie thing. He lives and dies with it sometimes and ignores it at other times. I love how this has turned into a fire Ozzie thread. At least driving home in the snow I can listen to a meaningful game.

White Sox vs. A's, 4/11/07 (W)
QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 11:45 AM) Common now this is not realistic at all. He'd get 2 at bats with this offense then be pinch hit for. Replaced for defensive purposes after the fifth in 1-0 game getting one at-bat. Erstad is a grinder who will run through a wall for no apparent reason.

QUOTE(iamshack @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 11:10 AM) Yeah, I got your point. And I got it last night when Fathom and Kalapse said the same thing. Once again, I am not arguing that that is not the correct strategy in that situation. I'm arguing that Ozzie manages a team of human beings here and it's not quite as simple as a lot of people try to make it. If you've ever managed people before, you know that there can be extraordinary benefits which come out of keeping your employees happy. I simply think Ozzie is trying to build Scottie's confidence up, and reward him for his solid play. The difference in the team Podsednik makes when he is playing well and he is confident is so huge as opposed to when he is struggling and beating himself down. I know the vast majority of people will disagree (and most have already), but I'll take the once in a blue-moon blunder in the field by Scottie if he is stepping to the plate with confidence 600 times a season. I believe the manager has to put his players in the best position to succeed. Guillen did not do that and failed at managing. If Jenks strikes out the side is Podsednik any more confident today, no. If Jenks forces him to make a play is he any more confident, no that is his job. If he is asked to save a game by doing something he is incapable of is he any more confident...........What is his confidence at right now. If the ball hit the top of the wall, no big deal. If the ball hit him in the head, well he can't be feeling to good. If Ozzie wanted to help his confidience, he should have pulled him. It was a no brainer choice. What about Anderson's confidence? How happy do you think he is? If your talking about Ozzie managing people, he is a wind sock.

Road Trip
The game last night drew more fans that it would've in Cleveland. I wonder if it would have drawn that many for a Brewer game...... Over 18K the entire two levels were full.

Are you smarter than a 2nd grader?
Stepped away and got into the first time. Don't jump every time and you will do it. Drag the end one's out without jumping anything and you're fine.

White Sox vs. A's, 4/11/07 (W)
The Sox have actually hit Kennedy well especially Konerko. I just hope the line-up is not 8 righties and Thome. I'd like to see Pods in left and Ozuna at third with AJ catching. Pitching match-ups for Cleveland look manageable.

QUOTE(iamshack @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 10:46 AM) See, this is the prototypical Soxtalk post after a game like this. It's Pods fault. It's Ozzie's fault. No. It's f'ing Jenks fault! I watched 7 innings of Jon Garland pitch his ass off and manage to avoid "ground balls through the infield." Stop looking everywhere to place blame, when it's so obvious where the blame needs to be placed. Jenks didn't get the job done, and he blew the damned game. Not Ozzie. Not Podsednik. Jenks. Players have to perform. You are missing my point. It is not Pods fault he is a terrible defensive player. Up until the bottom of the 8th he is fine out there. He should have been pulled for the 8th and 9th. Jenks, AJ, Konerko, Erstad, etc all had sub-par games that will happen. Replacing Pods on defense makes your team better. There is no question at all about that. In close games that you are winning where he is not scheduled to bat late in the game, pull him. It is that simple.

Sox Loss Postgame Thread
Jenks didn't do his job but it wasn't like he got pounded. He gave up three ground balls through the infield. Poor defense resulted in the loss. If anyone can not understand why Pods should not have been out there, you are missing an integral part of baseball. In the bottom of the 9th in a one run game you put your best defensive players on the field. I believe the reason Mack was not hit for was because his defense is better than Dye's. Pods has played really well this season but his defense is atrocious and will not get better. To leave him out there was a bad move. Guillen did not put his team in an obviously more favorable position ot win the game and therefore he failed.

Bobby Jenks
He should not pitch back-to-back days until his arm strength is up to speed. With this bullpen that should not be an issue. What blows is the Sox should be 5-2 not 3-4.

Any time you have a lead late in the game you put in your best defensive players. END OF THE f***ING STORY.

White Sox vs. A's , 4/10/07 (L)
This game soley rests on Ozzie Guillen's lack of managerial ability and the offense the reason we lost last September was the offense could not come through.

2007 AL Central Catch-All Thread
Nate Robertson holds lefties to a .181 average so the O's put 5 in their line-up (Huff, Gibbons, Patterson, Markakis.......ah crap I forget) 3-0 tiggers. Sheffield is making Dye look good. Ervin Santana got pounded. CC got hit but got out of jams. 7-4 Indians Boof was getting roughed up but has settled down. 3-0 Twins Grienke looking real good. Can't wait for Extra Innings to be shut off. The NL is unwatchable.

QUOTE(Jimbo @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 04:03 PM) dont tell that to Paullie Don't bring an AL player into an NL conversation. Wheeler blows. Game is in Murton's hands. Why not bring in Lidge here? Can't do any worse. Murton's gonna win it for them. Maybe not..... Biggio trying to f*** it up. He and Ensberg were 1-10 with three K's. ESPN has some cool scroll stats during at-bats on their Gameday and I could swear it said he was like 1-32 agaisnt the cubs in his career.

QUOTE(Jimbo @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 03:18 PM) Anyone want to do a little pool...The day when the fans destroy Wrigley Field after spending in excess of 300 million on this S*it team. They can go on the every popular Wrigley Field tour and trash the place. Attendance 35K, "a-lot of no-shows" no winner in the Square Deal attendance game, damn. Ig from Orland can play again next time though. Thanks pat. Lidge warming, sweet.

2007 MLB Catch-All Thread
The morons get all gassed up and Ronny gets excited because there is a man on first and two outs and a 3-2 pitch..................swing and a miss. This keeps the day moving at work but these guys are really tough to listen to. The fans, oh the fans, greatest in the world. Chris Sampson is pulled after 5 innings and allowed a whole 4 runners and threw 64 pitches, 40 for strikes. Is he not a starter or something , the guy hasn't broken a sweat. Although this could be why Garner sucks. I do not expect any type of insite from Ron and Pat, they are to busy telling us how great the fans are. Rick White is pitching and 'The Rebel' Randy Hundley is in the booth. I gotta turn this off... Once again, the National League sucks. The Royals and Tampa would compete for a playoff spot.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 02:06 PM) To all those idiots who believe Cubs fans don't care about us, take a look at Carlos Lee. He's getting booed like hell every time he bats or catches a ball this series, and they ain't booing him for what he did with the Brewers. They are booing him becasue weather it was with the Brewers or Sox, he kills the cubs and blew them off in the offseason to sign with the Astros. cub fans feel every player should sign with them if they want such player. This radio broadcast hurts my ears.

Big Hurt Countdown to 500 Thread
QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 07:22 AM) It would be a very sad day if it was proven that Frank had taken a steroid. Balta makes a great case, but if I was prosecuting I would point to a couple unique injuries. Who actually tears a bicep? Isn't it a common injury among football players that they can play through?

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 01:22 PM) Jeff Weaver is solid. Why do teams overpay for Cardinals pitchers? Dave Duncan is a god. To bad the Sox couldn't get him............ Kip Wells will get $10M a year next year and Bradon Looper $10M if they stay healthy. Weaver is making Contrearas Opening Day line look really good. I like watching the little ball on ESPN Gameday

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 9, 2007 -> 08:47 PM) santo is by far one of the worst broadcasters of all time. Besides his shouts during key plays, he doesnt seem to even know how to judge the game. He was b****ing about the umps the entire game today. That carried over to Comcast and the SCORE was talkign about it. Floyd was complaining that it threw him off his game as well as the Howry pitch to Everett. Ted Lilly then said that he got some calls that benefitted him. Ted will be DFA'd soon should he speak like this again.

Contreras Rumor
QUOTE(U can putitontheboarrrrd...YES @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 10:00 AM) The snap judgements, speculation and assumptions of what happened, and what may happen in the future is really sad. You people have no friggin clue what happened or what the situation is, and to sit here and say "oh Mrs. Count is a *****" or "Jose may have done this..." just stop. You dont know what is going on. None of us do. This whole thread is rather ridiculous. If there was no physical harm this seems crappy. I know this will sound like a male chauvanist pig statement but he is provided for a her a life that she could only dream of. The story that I understood was that he pitched poorly when he arrived because he missed his family. Then his family got here. This may sound strange but what if she didn't want to come to America and liked Cuba? I assume she can not go back. Maybe she really misses her family and is taking it out on Jose becasue he defected without her consent or 100% backing and now she realizes it was not a good idea. The sad thing is it was a great story and now it could be a tragic story. Pretty sad also quite a contradictory post.

McCarthy Watch
QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Apr 9, 2007 -> 10:42 PM) I vaguely remember this Marshall kid from last year. Strange, we had two kids in Marshall and Castro that were close to major league ready and neither of them ever made it into the hunt for the LHR spot in ST last year. Just shows you that baseball is all about scouting, at all levels. Not to mention the lefty that was traded for Riske that is the Red Sox set-up man.
