Sox Lockup Vazquez to Contract Ext.
Harry Chappas replied to Hideaway Lights's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The thing i think I like is that the Sox spent some money. Wheather you like JV or MB there is a cost certainty here and for three more years after that. Now we have three guys that we know and can set some fixed cost to these future years. -

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 6, 2007 -> 03:17 PM) 3 years 34 million reported. A GREAT deal by KW. Yep it may sound like a-lot but at 29 he just took a 20% pay cut, I think. Good for Javy. He would have gotten more in arbitration after this season. -
Sox Lockup Vazquez to Contract Ext.

Every person that wants to rid themself of Vazquez probably wanted to get rid of Garland every year and sign Buerhle to a life time contract. If this 3 year extension is inked that will be a good thing. -
I think Erstad starts in left and Anderson in center with Pods on the DL for at least the first three weeks of the season. At that point the Anderson 2007 campaign will be in week three and Erstad may be on his way to the DL.

Another double. Shiny happy day though 7-3 pitchers are hitting their spots nicely though. Man on 3rd 1 out. 7-3 Rockies -

QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Feb 28, 2007 -> 02:57 PM) Please...someone send a memo to some of these posters that it IS FEBRUARY. If you are going to be this intense when the seasons starts lawd help ya. I'd like to see Mark get it going early in spring, but no reason to jump the ledge right now. Come on it adds some levity. -

Give Pods a run for his money there Darin nice K on the hit and run. Uribe with a SB though, 1-out. This interview is hilarious. How did Buerhle give up four runs.......sounds like he did everything right. Iguchi with a 2B. I think they need to let him hit and knock off the small ball crap. He is their most consistent hitter period. 6-2 B3 1 out man on second. Thome 2B. -

QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Feb 28, 2007 -> 02:49 PM) so far so good, minus the towering doubles, errors, hitting into double plays. no ones gotten hurt yet. Give Erstad an inning more of work. -

Hey Mark two balls hit off the wall were not on the ground. My man you only pitched two innings. Oh well. Another XBH for the Rockies. -

Well at least the soothly sounds of Chris Singleton and Ed Farmer are enough to bring a smile to my face. Farmer with a nice rationale as to why Anderson has to produce........Uribe can not. Garland in. -

Buerhle isn't fooling anyone. This will most likely be his last inning. Ugly early. -
QUOTE(Beltin @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 02:59 PM) I forgot my green ink. Sorry. I agree that the Nats were foolish to sit on Soriano and now have to rely on their scouting department to turn those drafts picks into gold. Becasue the Cubs blew so bad I do not think they even lose their 1st round pick or even their second.

QUOTE(Beltin @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 01:52 PM) Am I mistaken, or is it three other HOFers? Jenkins, Williams and Banks? That's what I thought.

The person that will get this deal done is Oswaldo Guillen. If he wants him he will get him. I think in US Cellular Zambrano is a guy you need. As I explined in an other thread a guy like Zambrano surrounded by four .500 pitchers = 90 wins. If the young guys are .500 pitchers we are set. The guy is a number one plain and simple he is 26 and has beyond electric stuff. He does not rely on funking stuff. Dye and Buerhle = Zambrano if they choose.

QUOTE(Benchwarmerjim @ Feb 19, 2007 -> 04:02 PM) its only 90 seconds in between innings, 2 minutes for ESPN games (which they could cut down) -- who puts licorice on a baseball? Turk Wendell.

Small Ball encompasses hitting behind the runner and the hit and run as well as bunting. I hope the emphasis is on fundamentals. The think the start of last season was a result of Big Ball and when it faded we could nto resort back to Small Ball for some reason. I do not understand why Konerko, Dye and Thome will not practice bunting. Thome especially when the shift is on.

Bud was on ESPN radio this morning and said he can not really talk about the issue as it is not final but would come on when it is resolved. He did say that the move affects very few people as if nobody that has cable orders it according to their sources.

Dominican Trainer Banned From Baseball

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 15, 2007 -> 07:28 AM) Interesting list of names here... Some other big names mentioned throughout the article include Juan Gonzalez, Rafael Soriano, Erwin Santana, and Bartolo Colon Not to be a wise ass but it is Ervin Santana right? That is an impressive list and one that has been tainted with accusation. Funny that Sam isn't part of that list. -
Zambrano: Sign me before the season starts or I'm out
Harry Chappas replied to CSF's topic in The Diamond Club
A pitcher that can single handidly win close to 30 games by himself is worth $20M. By winning 30 gmaes I meant his team not him will win 30 games that he starts because he keeps them in it. Pedro did this with Boston. The guy is young and doesn't miss starts. When he faces a bad team he blows tham away and he pitches well in big games. With their offense, he can go 22-6 this year. In the other games if they go 6-4 they are 28-10. If they go .500 in the other games they are at 90-72. This is why a true #1 is so valuable. With hitters there are so many more intangibles to translate to wins. My guess on him is he should be looking for a contract larger than Sorianlo as he is 5 years younger. 8 years $145M ot $150M. -
I got great sets to a bunch of Yankee games. There must be a ton of 27 game plans as these games are just about sold out. Weekends are really tough.
-
This is complete BS all Opening Day and Cubs were gone at 10:00. Weekends are just about gone. Yikes.
