I think the Twins and he knew it was a matter of time before his elbow popped and they hoped to make it through this season. Same thing to a degree with Radke.

Did Bob Uecker talk about the Ben Sheets perfect game? Also did harrelson talk about Alvarez no hitter? Was he around when Cowley had his?

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 04:45 PM) Yes, yes you did. Seriously though, what offseason move would actually surprise any of you? With all this said I am definately cheering for the guy for many reasons, I just have that small pessimistic feeling that something like this could possibly keep him around for another year, no matter how remote the possibility. Too late to jump on the sweaty freddy bandwagon. -

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 04:34 PM) I have no problem "jinxing him". You can spare of those posts. As much as I hate podsednik I would love for him to do something monumental for the team I cheer for. I am not a Garcia fan and please don't take this the wrong way but to not want him to get a perfect game is pretty moronic. -

I have come to realize podsednik and uribe are the sole reason we are not at least 4 games up in the divison. -

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 04:26 PM) Thats what I'm saying. I was considering he thought there was less than 2 outs. He really had no reason to stop. Maybe he couldn't see the ball and didn't know where it was. LOLOL. Then look at the f***ing coach. Why did podsednik stop last night jesus this s*** is sad, I don't care what the f*** the score is , this is stiupid baseball!!!!! -

QUOTE(PA32R @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 03:45 PM) I agree with this. So, as someone relatively new to the board and who lives in Cali and thus can't follow Chicago news very easily, why does the majority of this board hate the Twins so much? I'm no Pats fan but I like their organization and respect what they've accomplished. Why wouldn't the same hold for the Twins? BTW, though I'm new to the board my childhood hero was Nellie Fox and the first thing I learned to say was Louis Aparicio so I'm not new to the Sox. Envious that they are always competitive. Notice they have no fans yet blame nobody and continue to grow talent and rob teams. -

If there is no great deal in the offseason why not open the rotation to all 6 guys for next season with the loser actually BEING USED as a long reliever???? Not the best sceanario but I just think it is great insurance should an injury occur. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 03:25 PM) You mean in 2004, where he had enough power to hit it out to right center? I know Cintron's defense isn't great, but he needs to be playing at least once every series at SS. Uribe is worthless . You were almost right. -

This team really has a tough time running hard. At every opportunity to assume there is no need to hussle, they do not hussle. Yet the fearless leader does nothing to call them out but will tell us all about the young guys not being as good as veterans. Guillen is turning into Dusty Baylor. -

At what point are uribe and podsednik finally benched. I do not think Gload, Mackowiak and Cintron are starters either but those two are embarassing righ now. We could still have life if we could get an offensive roll going. -
Gamethread: 9/12, Sox v. Angels
Harry Chappas replied to Gregory Pratt's topic in 2006 Season in Review
Anyone loooking to kill an hour. Look at the righties Anderson has started against. Anyone with a good slider makes him look stupid, kind of like podsednik every game. Please start Mack or Gload in left and Sweeney or Anderson in center. Going running until 9:45 hope to see a lead when I return. -
The person that makes these calls for FOX is a southsider and die hard Sox fan FWIW.

Here is the difference in 05 and 06. We won close games in 05 and we lose them in 06. I hope I am wrong but the offense needs to be more productive. We have sent 32 men to the plate in 9 innings. That is not good. -

Sorry to pop in with a negative thought but it is late and I'm the only one awake. Scott Podsednik is terrible. That's all. -
Will bring back memories of late June, 2000 except on the other coast.

Top of the 9th, what's your call?
Harry Chappas replied to Frank the Tank 35's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Sorry if I offend anyone here; Jenks if he said he was healthy starts the 9th. NO DEBATE AT ALL. If you think not, you do not understand baseball. Now he has a hip thing, after the first two doubles, you pull him for the lefty match up. He was not throwing well. The Sizemore hit was a flare. But here and more importantly, why wasn't Konerko guarding the line for Michaels it was a tie game and the go ahead run was on second so I suppose you want to take away the hit through the infield? Also, why was Anderson playing the second batter in the 9th to pull so much especially with Sweeney in left? -
Well Sweeney's average is now below Anderson's. I guess he should start against the three lefties and play center the next three days.
