And That's A White Sox Season
I am not sure if I have given up or just stopped trying to talk myself into believing they are not done which I thought they were after the second game in Boston. The blown opportunites are amazing. From this trip some things thet typify the season Pods stopping during a stolen base attempt (lose game), Dye not getting in position to throw a runner out at home (lose second game), over managing in the bullpen. When a guy has not thrown in over a week, try not to put him a position to fail (lose third game) and finally having a hitter 0-2 and then eventually giving up a three run bomb because you couldn't throw a good strike as well as the display crede put on at the plate. The reason this team is inconsistent is 1)The changing line-up especially in the lead-off slot does not allow for continutity 2) Poor hitting of Uribe (.265 OBP is disgusting) 3) Over-all bad play by pods wheather it is defense, hitting, striking out, or getting thrown out 4) In September relying on call-ups Logan and Sweeney especially 5) This team just seemed gassed the whole season I would be really pissed as I think we had the best team in baseball in 2003 and this season and we blew it while I thought the Indians were the best team last year. On paper means s***. Let's hope for a nice 11-2 finish to the season.........

Gload in left?
Who stole a base yesterday and who was thrown out in a crucial situation, which was followed by two more hits?????? I am not sure how fast Gload is but he hustles and that is enough for me to warrant an opportunity. Remember he would only start against righties and therefore would have a better jump the agaisnt a leftie. It is to late now anyway so the point is moot.

White Sox @ A's Game Thread
QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Sep 15, 2006 -> 10:47 PM) I think the bad ump call there changed the whole AB. Too bad. and the previous two at bats? Why even attempt at a ball that is about to hit you??????? Think Thome will ever get 100 RBI.....maybe when we are up or down by 8.

Bullpen update
QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Sep 14, 2006 -> 02:01 PM) This isn't Spring Training. The Sox can't afford to have Ozzie keep trotting not-the-best-pitcher-for-the-situation out there so Ozzie can evaluate them. He has had all season for that. The Sox couldn't afford this since the ASB. They couldn't afford it in August. They certainly couldn't afford it in September. And yet Ozzie continues to put Hermanson, Cotts, McCarthy in crucial game on the line situations when better relievers are available. If Ozzie is "seeing what they are made of" he doesn't understand that the #1 priority is winning, not talent evaluation. Your missing the point. The other night when McDougal was not available his pre-September options were Riske, Cotts, or McCarthy. We have seen that movie before. He wanted to see if Hermanson is worth anything. He needs to use the pen and see what is out there. Other than McDougal, Thorton and Jenks, there is nobody. Guillen is hoping Hermanson can get him something. The pen will be fine if they make the playoffs but they need to get there and they need some help. A starter goes out there for the playoffs to fill in this gap. I get the feeling McCarthy is done for this season, playoffs included.

White Sox @ A's Game Thread
The Twins and Tigers are locks if there ever was one tonight.........assuming the youth of Baltimore and Cleveland do not show up. The key to this game is the lineup coming through. Oakland may be good for 4 runs today and each game, hopefully less. We can not look the fool offensivly. If we execute our pitches and do not run away and hide each game should be like the Angels. Assuming pods doesn't f*** anything up. Maybe someone can give him some bad swordfish.

Kass on Hawk vs. Heinie Bird
Wasn't Kass the guy that wrote the Mariotti windsock column?

Gload in left?
scott podsednik gets thrown on balls he should be beating out. He gets no infield or bunt hits. He also is not stealing bases very well. He does not run down balls in the outfield at all. He looks at more called third strikes than an 8 year old. What he used to do was get a good jump and steal a base. I have never liked him except for one at-bat but could handle him when they won. are Gload or Makowiak the answer at lead-off....for the remainder of this season, yes. They both appear to play harder and want it much more then mr. dergan. Getting thrown out on the steal attempt was the last straw.

Bullpen update
Guillen uses guys to see what they are made of. I think for the remainder ofthe season it will be the big three. If the Sox make the playoffs they need to know who they can trust, Cotts, Hermanson, Riske, McCarthy etc.

Liriano is back
I think the Twins and he knew it was a matter of time before his elbow popped and they hoped to make it through this season. Same thing to a degree with Radke.

Mariotti rips Hawk
Did Bob Uecker talk about the Ben Sheets perfect game? Also did harrelson talk about Alvarez no hitter? Was he around when Cowley had his?

SOX VS ANGELS.... Garcia 1 hit gem
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 04:45 PM) Yes, yes you did. Seriously though, what offseason move would actually surprise any of you? With all this said I am definately cheering for the guy for many reasons, I just have that small pessimistic feeling that something like this could possibly keep him around for another year, no matter how remote the possibility. Too late to jump on the sweaty freddy bandwagon.

SOX VS ANGELS.... Garcia 1 hit gem
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 04:34 PM) I have no problem "jinxing him". You can spare of those posts. As much as I hate podsednik I would love for him to do something monumental for the team I cheer for. I am not a Garcia fan and please don't take this the wrong way but to not want him to get a perfect game is pretty moronic.

I have come to realize podsednik and uribe are the sole reason we are not at least 4 games up in the divison.

SOX VS ANGELS.... Garcia 1 hit gem
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 04:26 PM) Thats what I'm saying. I was considering he thought there was less than 2 outs. He really had no reason to stop. Maybe he couldn't see the ball and didn't know where it was. LOLOL. Then look at the f***ing coach. Why did podsednik stop last night jesus this s*** is sad, I don't care what the f*** the score is , this is stiupid baseball!!!!!

SOX VS ANGELS.... Garcia 1 hit gem
QUOTE(PA32R @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 03:45 PM) I agree with this. So, as someone relatively new to the board and who lives in Cali and thus can't follow Chicago news very easily, why does the majority of this board hate the Twins so much? I'm no Pats fan but I like their organization and respect what they've accomplished. Why wouldn't the same hold for the Twins? BTW, though I'm new to the board my childhood hero was Nellie Fox and the first thing I learned to say was Louis Aparicio so I'm not new to the Sox. Envious that they are always competitive. Notice they have no fans yet blame nobody and continue to grow talent and rob teams.

SOX VS ANGELS.... Garcia 1 hit gem
If there is no great deal in the offseason why not open the rotation to all 6 guys for next season with the loser actually BEING USED as a long reliever???? Not the best sceanario but I just think it is great insurance should an injury occur.

SOX VS ANGELS.... Garcia 1 hit gem
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 03:25 PM) You mean in 2004, where he had enough power to hit it out to right center? I know Cintron's defense isn't great, but he needs to be playing at least once every series at SS. Uribe is worthless . You were almost right.

SOX VS ANGELS.... Garcia 1 hit gem
This team really has a tough time running hard. At every opportunity to assume there is no need to hussle, they do not hussle. Yet the fearless leader does nothing to call them out but will tell us all about the young guys not being as good as veterans. Guillen is turning into Dusty Baylor.

SOX VS ANGELS.... Garcia 1 hit gem
At what point are uribe and podsednik finally benched. I do not think Gload, Mackowiak and Cintron are starters either but those two are embarassing righ now. We could still have life if we could get an offensive roll going.

Gamethread: 9/12, Sox v. Angels
Anyone loooking to kill an hour. Look at the righties Anderson has started against. Anyone with a good slider makes him look stupid, kind of like podsednik every game. Please start Mack or Gload in left and Sweeney or Anderson in center. Going running until 9:45 hope to see a lead when I return.
