  1. Renewal rates blew my mind. A week after the seaon it was 95%. Also the increase in attendance from last year makes up for missing the playoffs. I think all the other stuff will keep us at right around $115M for the year. Liriano being out I think let's KW spend a little more this offseason as the post season chances have improved on this alone.
  2. These guys are right on the money. The kids do not know hte difference as long as you have the Thomas trains that they can relate to. The Thomas sets are much more cooler though.
  3. That is why I think you keep the rotation and put McCarthy at AAA to start and then move someone at the break if needed. This is by far the biggest news of the offseason. I do not care what else happens in the AL.
  4. Jared Weaver was the poster child for St. Louis fan gear. I wonder if the Anaheim fans are ticked.
  5. Watching the Tigers give games away as they have in this series makes me appreciate last year even more. If the Tigers do not come back and lose after I feel they should be in this I would be crushed.
  6. Wasn't there some pretty negative and nasty press associated with Razor Shines when he first came on board, 3 or 4 years ago. I know Backman got rave reviews while here but I thought for some reason that Razor Shines was trouble when he first started out even though he won a-lot. I could be wrong.
  7. Wasn't the Cards firstbase coach (Dave McKay?) the 83 team's bullpen catcher? I know Davey Nelson was the firstbase coach.
  8. I missed something what was Hurley's De Ja Vu? I really need to pay more attention I did remember who Boone was.
  9. The Mets have a better offense than the Tigers. Weaver has looked good as did Suppan. In that big park, you never know....as hot as the Tigers were if they cool off a bit it may be a decent series.
  10. QUOTE(chiguy79 @ Oct 18, 2006 -> 10:00 AM) Got mine yesterday, I am a full-season holder Me too. My ticket rep also said renewals are around 95% so there won't be much movement.
  11. Throwing them out there for s***s and giggles. Carlton Fisk, Jeff Torborg, Jack McKeon, Joe Nossek, Buck Showalter, or my favorites Cookie Rojas or Don Zimmer.
  12. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Oct 12, 2006 -> 10:39 AM) QFT. Lol. What about the gross $4.5M in additional ticket revenue generated by this?
  13. This whole argument is stupid in the fact that Thomas was hurt until around the All-Star break and was a huge gamble. Anyone that thought last offseason that Thomas was going to be back healthy is lying. The A's could afford to gamble on this and it worked out great for them. The White Sox took a less risky gamble on Dye two years ago and look how that panned out. Thome is also 3 years younger than Thomas so he can produce for a few more years. This argument will be proven when teams come knocking to sign Thomas in the off season. My bet...he is back in the AL Central. Unless Oakland has a cheap option on him. On any given day there is a better than average chance he will get hurt.
  14. Lord it is going to be a long offseason around here.
  15. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Oct 3, 2006 -> 04:12 PM) Compare Frank and Jim's salary, then post those stats again. If the Sox keep Frank, they could have traded Gio, Rowand, etc for perhaps a piece that we needed, maybe say bullpen or a LF? Frank would have cost us 0 talent, and a fraction of Thome's salary. Jim was awesome, but he would have had to be exponentially better than Frank for the trade to be worth it. The Sox took a risk that Thome would be healthy and Frank would not be. Frank turned out to be healthy, but that was a risk the Sox were not going to take. Rock on Big Frank. So last November/July you were pissed they got Thome and let Thomas go. GMAFB
  16. Please post the 93 numbers, an 1.122 OPS is pretty good in my book. He had 9 offical at-bats in 2000 there was a whole team's worth of failure there. There were far more reasons we lost both years than Frank Thomas. I am glad he is doing well on the big stage and hope KW and the White Sox wish him well.
  17. QUOTE(cuddlyboy26 @ Oct 3, 2006 -> 12:44 PM) They dont want to sign him long term. All the articles I am reading recently are they are anxious to get rid of him to make way for Fields. I now dont blame Crede and Boras at all for making negotiations hell for the White Sox. After a career year like Crede had, and building to that for awhile I would expect the organization to see me as their future and with them still preferring some unproven kid in that case I would also be making negotations a living hell for my team, and not be very open to advice on something like having surgery because they want me to. Please stop stating that the White Sox want Crede to have unnecessary surgery you have done this in two threads. NOBODY gains by him having surgery. He has broken down at the end of the last two seasons. Scott Boras does not care if he has 5 great months and then tanks in the 6th as long as the end numbers are there. The White Sox want Crede for 6 months. The thought that they are sending him off to surgery to lower his value is not very rational. A small slip along the way during the surgrery and his career could end. This is why Boras does not want it if you ask me. Remember the DB on the Bears who went in for some "Clean-up/cosmetic thing" and ended up having his ACL cut on accident. Nobody has surgery unless it is absolutly necessary.
  18. Think the Yanks would take Crede as part of an A-Rod deal and move Uribe to third or let A-Rod play third??????? ASSUMING A-ROD TANKS IN THE PLAYOFFS!
  19. My guess on the running of this event after last years and to an extent the Grinder Bash is that the Sox now have to try and limit attendance. I would think you have to look at how the cub convention is run. I think they are trying to rid the convention of simple autograph and memorabilia hawks and trying to price them out. At the same time making hte event enjoyable for the players and the fans that do attend. I also believe security is probably an issue with the crowd last year. Just a couple of thoughts.
  20. Carl Everett says BS.
  21. Is Willis that big of a deal for him to be part of a "package"?
  22. Someone will swing at a bad pitch and make a fool of themself.
  23. QUOTE(The Critic @ Sep 19, 2006 -> 07:59 PM) Maybe because speed is all he offers to a team? I wasn't defending him. The silver lining is in two weeks he will no longer be around.
  24. QUOTE(The Critic @ Sep 19, 2006 -> 07:52 PM) I don't know if he's slower, it just looks like the 30/40/20 thing to me: first 30 feet down the line, he doesn't seem to run all that hard next 40 feet he seems to pick it up last 20 feet he seems to slow down I don't understand why he never seems to bust it all the way down the line No one else does why should he, I guess.
  25. I wish they would change the intro to what the they used before the games last season and get rid of "The White Sox have won the World Series." Maybe it would be a wake up call. My prediction, Sox are hitless and down 2-0 through 3. 5-0 through 6 and 6-1 going to the 7th. I then finish my cocktail leave the park and wait until next season. I love crow and hold out hope but I am not real optimistic after watching over 140 games thus far.
