  1. Afghanistan and iraq receive an overwhelming amount of that aid.
  2. Yes rly, unless I've mistaken you for another poster but I'm infallible so I know that didn't happen.
  3. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Oct 24, 2011 -> 09:22 PM) You know why? Because you are so flippant to just give the government everything it wants in order make your decisions for you. I'd rather error on the side of making my own choices and living with the consequences then to have a bailout of every move I make. You know, for the sake of the little guy. Oh the hypocrasy. Ironic given your opposition to a populist uprising that overthrew a decades long dictatoship
  4. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Oct 24, 2011 -> 07:40 PM) GREEED. BANKS SUCK! Pretty much seems to be the case
  5. You have done a remarkable job of completely contradicting yourself in just a few posts, kap
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 24, 2011 -> 12:42 PM) Mock all you want, but there is a reason these abuses are getting tons of press. There has been a series of these stories in the Trib. They absolutely should get coverage, and Illinois does seem particularly corrupt. I was just curious if jenks had actual plans or desires for a certain state.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 24, 2011 -> 12:41 PM) That was an excellent show. The one a few years back followed around some specific animals, right? I remember a cat with a couple of kittens for sure. Yep, that's the one I was thinking of. I don't know what it actually was, though.
  8. I'm sure a radical leftist bombed a movement largely comprised of leftists, that makes perfect sense.
  9. What conservative, corruption-free bastion to you plan on moving to?
  10. Nature had a pretty good episode last night about wildlife recovery in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, focused primarily on wolves. There was a similar documentary a few years back that was also excellent but I can't remember the name http://www.pbs.org/wnet/nature/episodes/ra...roduction/7108/
  11. f*** those guys for ripping off the system and hurting actual teachers.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 21, 2011 -> 09:00 AM) For those who haven't followed the story at Berkeley, a group of so-called "Climate Change skeptics" decided to put together a program a year ago to test the supposed flaws in the consensus interpretation of the statistics. They received a ton of money, as all supuposed climate change skeptics do, including industry money. Their preliminary results were released earlier in the year, suggesting that...wow, the current interpretation is actually right, and they can no longer be skeptical of anything climate science is saying. They submitted a bunch of stuff a couple days ago...and once again...they're confirming the standard interpretation. Their "Average temperature increase over the last 100 years" is actually coming in on the high side. In the press release announcing the results, Muller said, "Our biggest surprise was that the new results agreed so closely with the warming values published previously by other teams in the US and the UK." In other words, climate scientists know what they're doing after all. These results I'm sure will get enormous press coverage. After all, they even had industry backing, which shows again that scientists aren't just some massive conspiracy after government funding. I'm shocked, just absolutely shocked that Anthony Watts is melting down over this instead of "accept[ing] whatever result they produce, even if it proves my premise wrong." Of course, yet another paper that confirms that bears do, in fact, s*** in the woods will be summarily dismissed by the 'skeptics'.
  13. I don't understand your question. Do you mean a decrease in corporate tax revenues, or revenues-as-a-percentage-of-all-tax-revenues?
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 18, 2011 -> 05:44 PM) Personally I'd be a Verizon user if I had a choice, but that's because I know VZN gives me solid coverage in backcountry areas from experience, and because I hate AT&T's products in general. If you don't need backcountry coverage though, there are benefits to the others. this was the biggest reason I switched to Verizon
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 21, 2011 -> 07:59 AM) I think you either need to lay off the sauce or stick to the "I am drunk" thread. that was a sober post.
  16. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 19, 2011 -> 06:22 PM) This cracked me up, I figured other cat lovers would also find it funny cats are so damn weird
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 20, 2011 -> 01:28 PM) So...I must say...before this story, I had no idea that such thing as a "Privately owned zoo" could even exist in this country. And on top of that, we appear to have had a large, privately owned zoo where one guy could do an awful lot of damage. And a guy who has had "Animal cruelty issues" for years, with the animals living in "Filth" according to ABC. Seriously...why the Hell is any of this legal? There's a guy in Lockport who has exotic animals, mostly wolves but also a bear (at one point). It is a rescue society and education-type thing, though. It's about 1/2 a mile from my parents house and before the area was built up, he'd walk his wolves around. IIRC from my most recent visit there a few years ago as a camp counselor, he has "all the same licenses as Lincoln Park Zoo" to maintain and house animals. As long as he has the appropriate facilities, he can have pretty much any animal he'd like. http://www.bigrunwolfranch.org/ You can also hear the wolves at my parents many nights (not as much now with the 355 noise), which was pretty awesome growing up. He used to have a peacock, too, and those things make crazy noises.
  18. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 20, 2011 -> 01:17 PM) articles like this are why I want Tebow to fail and to fail hard what is this i don't even
  19. I don't put you in the RedState "53%" category fwiw. I don't know how you cannot have an issue with income inequalities while at the same time being sympathetic with their movement, though.
