Palehose vs. Twinkies 7/29--7:10pm--CSN
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 09:54 PM) Strange Sox indeed . That was a sarcastic response to some other posts on the previous page.

And that's a White Sox season.
QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 10:00 PM) Sox and Tigers have a lot of AL East left and Twins have none, but, before this series Oakland, who is a bad offensive team, smacked around the Twins pitching and it's basically the same team who struggled against bad teams last year near the end, so nobody is running away with this division In that case I'd rather KW not trade away young talent to end up the tallest midget this year.

I know we have some brutal stretches coming up in the schedule. How do the Twins and Tigers schedules from here on out compare?

Dump half the team, fire our manager and fire the GM is a surefire way to success.

Palehose vs. Twinkies 7/29--7:10pm--CSN
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 09:45 PM) How can the Sox blame any of the 3 losses on the ballpark? You could say its because they let that s***hole get to them mentally, but most of those errors were committed by rookies or guys not with the team for very long.

Healthcare reform
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 02:00 PM) 48% of actual subscribers is a more meaingful number. But still, I am pleasantly surprised at even that number. Ok, so if the government non-profit option will run all for-profit health plans out of business, why don't these non-profit ones do it already?

State your unpopular opinions
QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 12:58 PM) I really don't know why though, once you learn how the Metric system actually works, the English system actually seems kind of stupid. I have a list of fractional/decimal equivalents taped to the side of my monitor. It's much easier to use a base-10 system like metric since that what we use for just about everything else.

The Democrat Thread
QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 12:43 PM) I'm sure. Frankly though the lies have already had the intended effect so it doesn't matter what they say at this point. I'd imagine its only among people who would never vote for a democrat anyway, though.

Healthcare reform
QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 12:34 PM) "SYSTEM" is part of the equation, not cherrypicking "insurers". It's all part of the same system. I'm all for shifting the profits currently directed at insurers (because I see no innovation incentives there) to doctors and researchers. Why should the insurance (not provider, care, hospital, research, etc) industry be for-profit?

Healthcare reform
QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 11:51 AM) Oh here we go. EVIL COMPANIES MAKING PROFITS! HOW DARE THEY! Government comes in, has NO profit incentive, will cut prices, which causes the other companies to lose money, which shuts them down. But that's ok. Competition sucks, especially when said competition is ADMITTED to making these companies not profit to kill them. f*** profits. Everything should be given to the government to spread back to the nanny state. It's obviously the best solution to everything. What innovations come from profit for health insurers? What's the profit motivating there? Hypothetical If we could provide the exact same system as now but strictly through non-profit methods so that the costs are lower, why should I be against this? Appeal to/ against an ideological buzzword doesn't count, either.

We don't spend nearly enough on science/ science education. The scientific illiteracy in this country is staggering.

Films Thread
It was released in theaters. It just sucked so much that it only lasted a week or two. According to wiki, the movie only grossed a little less than $5M.

K, this might get heated, but let's talk
QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 07:23 PM) Knew this thread would be a hoot. Nevertheless, I've never had a problem while driving caused by a bike doing what what they are supposed to do. I pass them, at most with several cars ahead of me it takes less than a minute to get past him/her. The annoying part is when you wait forever to pass a bike only to be caught at the next redlight and have the cyclist ride past everyone to the front of the line again, restarting the whole process.

QUOTE (beckham15 @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 09:31 PM) He's going to bat leadoff tomorrow I'm just curious does wise have the lowest batting average for all hitters this yr? if not i'd hate to be a fan of the team that does Humorously, Darin Esrtad is slightly lower.

We need to trade Wise for some grass seed. He's not even worth a bag of balls.

I love the emotional rollercoaster of this game. Scratch that--roller coaster implies ups and down. This is a swan dive off a large cliff.
