QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 4, 2009 -> 11:54 AM) Doesn't even come close to the numbers who believe The Evil George Bush was behind it. It was something like 70% of Americans believed he had a direct role (along with Al Qaeda) in 2002.

This seems like an excellent idea I saw on another thread:
-
Yeah, everything is Western-Europe centric until the 17th century and then we switch to America-centric. Even the "World History" elective I took in high school focused primarily on the ancient Mediterranean. Hell, the etymology of "Mediterranean" tells you where our viewpoint of history is focused.

QUOTE (Nokona @ Aug 4, 2009 -> 01:46 AM) Gordon Beckham is bigger than the Hall of Fame. They'll need the Hall of Bacon annex in Cooperstown.

QUOTE (mr_genius @ Aug 3, 2009 -> 10:08 PM) the birth certificate 'scandal' is nothign compared to the '9/11 was an inside job' mania; the macarena of conspiracy theories. biggest ever. 9/11 troothers are much, much worse. At least the birther conspiracy only involves a handful of people trying to fake a citizenship. It has a lot of popularity outside of this country: A good take on the birther/ truther comparison http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/...tics_97748.html Nut jobs come in all stripes. That's what happens when people shut off their brains and stick dogmatically to an ideology.
-
And you're getting more and more the echo chamber effect. One "side" or a certain ideology gets support in a forum/ blog, produces so much noise that it drowns out anyone else, and then they never here anything but other people that they agree with. If anyone tries to present an alternate opinion, they're quickly mocked and ridiculed.

QUOTE (mr_genius @ Aug 3, 2009 -> 09:56 PM) wow that site looks terrible. i refuse to navigate through it's 1992 technology. i guess i'll never get to know 'the truth' about Obama's fake brith certifiacte They're ultra conservative when it comes to everything. And lostfan, you're right, I couldn't read dailykos or du for that long either.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 3, 2009 -> 07:57 PM) I was actually just out in the yard a few minutes ago thinking about this. We don't have any bats*** crazy posters here besides kapkomet and that's just an act. How do we go about finding a bona fide birther to make fun of? For whatever reason, they tend to congregate at automotive forums. I stopped frequenting one that I've been at since 2002 because of how retarded it got. You could always browse freerepublic but your brain may implode to save itself from the pain. Kap's Kaperbole doesn't come close to the legitimate crazy of some people out there.

The law is incredibly vague as to what the Constitution actually requires of the President. Regardless of the birther movement, its an antiquated clause, anyway.
-
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Aug 3, 2009 -> 12:18 PM) This will be back in 2012. And it will cost the republican party non-idiot votes. Anyone who buys into this s*** wasn't going to be voting for Obama anyway.
-
QUOTE (kapkomet @ Aug 3, 2009 -> 12:01 PM) BS. Keep reading that propoganda. ANY plan that leaves the option of "government insurance" is crap. Medicare is so broken it obviously doesn't work like it needs to yet we want the whole country to be on a "medicare like" plan? No. No. And no. Fix that first, and MAYBE we can consider it after that. You want to "cut costs" (I mean ration) the government needs to get out of the way. Wait. tsk tsk - EVIL PROFITS - tsk tsk - should never be allowed in any industry because that means they are evil-ly taking money away from someone else by definition. Sorry... utopia for all - I need to get that brainwashed through my head. Irrelevant to my point. Single-payer would be radical. Nationalized hospitals would be radical. Removing all private insurance would be radical. Stop jumping off the deep end on every single post. I'm not advocating for this bill.

What's going through the Congress isn't that extreme. It's pretty mild compared to what could be done.
-
I like the idea that this was made as a parody of birthers to get them to look even more stupid. That's about the only way it makes sense.
-
QUOTE (kapkomet @ Aug 3, 2009 -> 09:51 AM) These people need to just STFU and go away. Seriously. It looks like this is what's left of the strongly conservative base in the Republican party.
-
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Aug 3, 2009 -> 09:53 AM) Also, I dont know what language they speak in Kenya, but I assume it is not english? If so, why would the birth certificate be in english? English is the official language. They were controlled by the British until the 60's.
-
Predictably, this is already going strong in the birther circles.

Bacon loves the double. -
Buehrle seems a little miffed about him being gone. Hopefully it doesn't create any tensions between Mark and Peavy.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 1, 2009 -> 09:56 PM) Or a stupid racist (Joe Morgan). Joe Morgan isn't a racist. Joe Morgan is a Morganist/ Big-Red-Machinist. He is incredibly stupid, though.

I generally ignore it because of how crappy their journalism and favoritism tends to be, but I go to ESPN.com for stats/ standings/ boxscores.

QUOTE (WCSox @ Aug 1, 2009 -> 04:53 PM) Too bad that Paulie was on 2nd. Somebody with decent speed may have advanced. I was wondering why he didn't tag on that, then I remembered it was Konerko. -

STFU about Jeter. "Jeter never gets booed. Except when he did. But that's not often."
