QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 28, 2017 -> 10:49 AM) Because in general that statement can be true for just about any pick or any trade. To me it's just a lazy statement to try and get your point across. And like I said I'm not a Bears fan so I personally don't care either way, I just don't like that kind of logic. Yeah, it leads to justifying decisions that were objectively bad or at least far from optimal because they happened to work out that one time. Playing lottery scratch-offs is a bad financial decision, even if you do hit a 10k pay off eventually.

It's possible, but McConnell could always have the Senate parliamentarian make a ruling to change what is or isn't allowed under reconciliation. Challenging these parliamentary points of order is the technical means for dumping the filibuster, too.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 28, 2017 -> 09:51 AM) Ya I've heard one of the biggest pluses with Trubisky was his accuracy so not sure why Gruden thinks that. The UNC coach was on The Score this morning saying he was "the most accurate QB I've ever worked with"

QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 28, 2017 -> 09:24 AM) I think it lasts to 2021, but you might be right. I was thinking it would make it difficult for them to make it "cheaper". But there's the constitutional idea that a "past Congress can't bind the current Congress." If they pass a bill that goes against the sequester, then they've implicitly overturned at least that part of the sequester.
-
QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 28, 2017 -> 09:11 AM) It will be difficult for republicans to push a tax plan like that in the Senate because of some of the parts of the sequestration bill. Also filibuster. That's why we'll end of getting Bush Tax Cuts v2.0 that sunset in 10 years via reconciliation imo. eta: I don't think the sequaestration bill can actually bind future Congresses though?

Call it petty, but I personally take some solace in the fact that he so clearly hates life right now.

QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Apr 28, 2017 -> 08:08 AM) It's not about what Pace can and can't do with these. There aren't any GM's who consistently find gems in the mid rounds. Some can't find any in round 1. I do know that the probability in round 1 is much better You don't need to find gems, you need to find competent starters in those rounds. The Bears are really, really lacking in nearly every position, and now they have two fewer opportunities to hit on a pick. Pointing out that past Bears GMs were bad at drafting so it doesn't matter if they don't have 3/4th round picks sort of ignores that that's exactly how the Bears got into the position they're in now.
-
Really sorry to hear that, heads.

QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Apr 28, 2017 -> 12:22 AM) Give away everything. My god. They gave away 2 thirds and a 4th, one or two of which will probably be recouped in about 18 hours, but if Pace can't get them back, uh oh! Hopefully the Bears don't miss out on another Chris Conte, Major Wright, Juaquin Iglesias, or Khaseem Greene with those golden tickets! If you don't think Ryan Pace can do anything with third and fourth round picks, the bears are doomed anyway.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 09:14 PM) Supposedly a big tax cut is coming. Isn't that good news? Is Trump becoming da man? The guys who came up with this tax plan are the same guys who came up with everything Brownback has done in Kansas.

QUOTE (shipps @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 08:37 PM) You guys complain every year that they don't address the Qb position. They finally make a shrewd move to get one because if they didn't it's likely someone else was entertaining a trade with San Fran to get Trubisky, the guy Pace identifies as "the guy" and you all lose ur s*** over a couple third rounders. This was four picks to move up one spot in a mediocre draft to grab a guy who doesn't project as a perennial pro bowl talent. What is shrewd about this?
-
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 08:03 PM) No...he isn't ready to start. He has all kinds of tools. We will never be a good franchise if we always ignore QB. I'm always fine investing in QB and I presume they liked him (afterall they picked him). I've been saying we need a QB and we need to start investing in it. Yeah but he would have been a reach just taking him at 3 this was a monumental overpay to move up one spot for mediocre projection talent.

Edit: damn beaten by buerhle but that deserves a second post. Lol bears, just lol. Rip Ryan Pace.

In the span of about 12 hours, the Trump admin started making a bunch of noise about pulling out of NAFTA as quickly as this week, and now Trump has said "nah, nevermind" after talking to Canada and Mexico.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 06:31 PM) How many of Trump's Executive Orders do not fall into one of these two categories: 1. You, executive department, please do study things and do your job 2. Slapped down by a court Working from that, we can have a list of what he's actually "accomplished". Maybe. It's true for the laws he's signed, too. They include things like naming an airport in American Samoa and the bill they had to pass to allow mattis to be appointed.

Looks like the shutdown will be averted now that the White House has caved on all of it's demands. Art of the Deal.
