  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 14, 2012 -> 07:00 AM) Point 1. No he doesn't. He's gotten this far without one, why put together specifics that people can attack? Mitt Romney's economic plan doesn't have enough specifics that its impact on tax revenues/deficits can be evaluated, why should Santorum do m ore than that? Secondly, it's nice to see Tom Freidman continue to write articles that could come verbatim out of President Obama's state of the Union Addresses while pretending that somehow he's this wise centrist and both parties would oppose him on them. And to write that article without indicating anything about which party thinks that 1 dollar of tax increases for $4 in deficit reduction is socialism, or which party thinks that infrastructure spending is socialism. Friedman really is fantastic at writing articles bemoaning the lack of a centrist third party that is 90% the standard democratic platform.

It literally started out as a recruiting film.
  4. I sucks to lose one of the truly liberal members of Congress, but I don't really know that he was very effective in shaping policy, pulling discourse leftward or getting anything major done.
  5. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 13, 2012 -> 01:42 PM) Yes, and that's the worst part about this... the straight up steak is at 13%, while the processed garbage is 29%.
  6. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Mar 13, 2012 -> 08:54 AM) Which study are you referring to? McDonald, King et. al
  7. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 13, 2012 -> 01:53 PM) It's dependent on the current stock price of GM, but as of November it was 24 billion. $25/share now, so a little lower. http://hotair.com/archives/2011/11/17/good...s-14-3-billion/ But as that article notes, there were some tax-maneuverings that are covering up the "real" cost. Edit: I guess I shouldn't have said "right now." I thought this article had come out in Jan or Feb. My bad. Last time you posted this I wondered aloud if Hot Air had done some more journalism and posted an update now that the numbers are better?
  8. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 13, 2012 -> 08:46 AM) Yeah, but he has a valid point. I don't even necessarily disagree with it - as I said, I didn't really favor Obama's approach when he took it. I was just saying, hey, as it turns out, they executed their plan pretty well, and it worked out quite well in the end. If some component of your political philosophy leads to bad results and bars positive results, you should probably reexamine it's validity. edit: or at least not state them as truisms.
  9. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Mar 12, 2012 -> 09:30 PM) Yup, keep up the posting ass-hate-ry. Well it was a remarkably stupid thing to say
  10. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Mar 12, 2012 -> 07:11 PM) .... wrong on so many levels. it is not the role of the government to float trillions of dollars to corporations. it doesn't matter who paid back what, it should not have happened. Thus sayeth mr. genius, and it was so.
  11. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 12, 2012 -> 06:35 PM) Yet very little news coverage.... It was on tds and colbert and talked about on most of the liberal or leftist blogs I read.
  12. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 12, 2012 -> 02:41 PM) LOL, the Redskins will find a way to f*** up anything they have going for them. That organization is a perpetual train wreck.
  13. This seems appropriate for this thread: Teen Sues School For Announcing She Was Pregnant At Assembly
  14. Obama has been pretty god damn terrible in that regard. Couple that with Holder's recent "what does 'due process' really mean, anyway?" speech...
  15. QUOTE (Tex @ Mar 9, 2012 -> 04:17 PM) IIRC there was also an issue with multiyear matching dollars from Texas which cannot be done based on our constitution. No, it was over them explicitly refusing to use the funding as required and not explicitly excluding PP. http://usnews.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/03/...bortion-dispute
  16. Inhofe invokes Genesis as proof that AGW is a hoax:
  17. In a bizarre analogy, Neal Boortz compares poor people to worms in a dog and says that we should "deworm" but that that dastardly Obama is stopping us because "the worms have a vote." At best, he's saying that the poor shouldn't have a vote. At worst, he's calling for them to be destroyed.
  18. Peter Schiff literally pining for the Gilded Age: Of course, the "we" that enjoyed a lot more freedom refers to people like Schiff (rich white guys), not everyone. This sort of honesty is refreshing, in a way.
  19. Came here to post that
  20. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Mar 9, 2012 -> 10:38 PM) Officially, the Rams are getting WSH 2012, 2013 and 2014 1st rounders, as well as WSH 2012 2nd rounder. WOW. Wow. That's ridiculous.
  21. Perry also recently turned down federal funding for womens health clinics to make sure pp doesn't get it. He fits perfectly into the current GOP mold on almost every issue.
  22. :smug:
  23. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 8, 2012 -> 02:16 PM) Eh? The SMOKING GUN!!! Video breitbart's acolytes got scooped on yesterday but hyped on Hannity. Barack Obama was on video introducing one his professors at a protest! And he hugged him! This prof is, of course,a dangerous Alinskyte racialist radical with ties to Jeremiah Wright! Not sure why they think anyone will give a s*** if no one really cared about obama's own association with Wright.
  24. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Mar 4, 2012 -> 12:13 PM) I guess when drunkard Randi Rhodes falls on her face but blames Rethuglicans for it, and the liberal media and blogs run with it like a dog with a steak, anything can get traction. Now, if they guy currently in possession of the Obama videos has some sort of 'accident' before they are released....... So apparently breitbart's org was scooped on this by buzzfeed today. They posted the shocking footage of Barack Obama introducing a law professor at Harvard. PBS has pointed out that they aired this footage four years ago and have posted all available footage of the event. I can totally see why breitbart was assassinated over this.
  25. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 7, 2012 -> 09:11 AM) This. ...and then there's this, too. ----- Article quoted from The Daily Meal, link: (http://www.thedailymeal.com/iceman-suffered-clogged-arteries) "Scientists have been working on analyzing a 5,300-year-old mummy, found in 1991 in Italy’s Ötztal Alps, and surprise surprise, they've discovered that the iceman had clogged arteries. The mummy, known as Ötzi, was apparently lactose intolerant, dealt with parasites and cavities, and was at risk for arteriosclerosis (although a head injury killed him). While the lactose intolerance isn't surprising (humans were just beginning to domesticate animals and eat dairy products when he was alive), the fact that Ötzi had clogged arteries means the Paleo diet might be useless when facing heart disease. "[Arterioscelrosis] is typically thought to be a modern, so-called 'civilization disease,'" project leader Albert Zink wrote. "With Ötzi we now know that the mutations already occurred more than 5,000 years ago." Since coronary heart disease seems to predate potato chips and couch potatoes, heart health may be based more on genetics than diet, making heart disease more difficult to prevent. Bad news all around, we fear." ----- I eat meat, but I only do so in moderation. I don't even eat it every day. I don't push my lifestyle down your throats, I expect demand the same in return. I'm not about to get into the politics of how the animals are treated, I wish everything were perfect in that regard, but it's not. This is part of our culture growing and refining itself. I'm positive they're treated better and better in this country, especially when compared to the past, or other countries. Compared to a couple of decades ago, maybe. Compared to before massive industrialization in the mid 20th century, no.
