Good point, I forgot about Medicare Part D. And a couple of wars, too, in addition to huge tax cuts that were supposed to usher in a wave of prosperity. One of these days dynamic scoring just has to work!

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Mar 1, 2012 -> 04:08 PM) “You’re setting up a rule that not even Jesus and his apostles could adhere too.” Classic line. This is about religious freedom. He's invoking the classic Supreme Court 1st amendment "Jesus Test" to determine the Constitutionality of a law.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 1, 2012 -> 04:00 PM) Urge to murder. Rising. It's hard to unpack just how awful that exchange is, and it's only a small subset of the current attacks on contraception and abortion.

Sheriff Joe is keeping birtherism alive!
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 1, 2012 -> 03:31 PM) "Honest" in this case has everything to do with which side of the aisle you stand on, and the ability to justify doing the same thing without feeling any guilt for it. That's simply untrue, highlighted by the fact that we're talking about David Frum.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Mar 1, 2012 -> 03:19 PM) You're allowed to not be sad when a douchebag dies. But you don't have to be a douchebag about it yourself.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 1, 2012 -> 03:12 PM) And just like Breitbart, you now have justified it. I don't agree with your claim that any criticism of the someone who died is off-limits. You have to ignore that criticism comes in all forms and some of it is fair and valid and some of it is unfair and mean-spirited to come to that conclusion. Breitbart attempted to justify his insults and gloating over Kennedy's death, but that does not mean he succeeded. Writing an article that is honest about the man's history without disparaging and insulting him for partisan political joy is not in the same category. An article that discussed Kennedy's passing but also discussed negative aspects would not be in the same category.

I guess if you define any criticism as gloating, sure.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 1, 2012 -> 03:02 PM) Using big words doesn't make you any less of a raging asshole. It makes you a pretentious raging asshole. Not being a raging asshole makes you not a raging asshole, like Frum's piece. Gloating over someone's death, like Breitbart did with Kennedy, does.
-
There's a difference between being honest about your feelings instead of a bunch of false decorum and respect and being a raging asshole about it.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 1, 2012 -> 11:11 AM) The Senate killed the ridiculously terrible Blunt Amendment. http://thinkprogress.org/health/2012/03/01...tion-amendment/ Does anyone here actually want to deny that the GOP has gone bats*** crazy?
-
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 1, 2012 -> 07:10 AM) Rush Limbaugh really is a terrible human being: Man, why does anyone ever call Rush a racist, misogynist asshole??

didn't know Ward was Korean.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 29, 2012 -> 08:20 AM) It was really dumb of Braun to put all of this on the collector when he made his speech. He should have just left it at "we won the arbitration case" and left it at that, but he went after the character of an unnamed person who now has a name, and has had his livelihood and integrity questioned. I have a feeling this isn't over by a long shot. I first heard his speech on B&B yesterday. My god, what a gigantic asshole.

Breitbart was walking near his home in Brentwood, Calif just after midnight Thursday when he collapsed according to his father-in-law Orson Bean. Someone saw Breitbart fall and called 911. Emergency crews tried to revive him and rushed him to the emergency room at UCLA Medical Center, Bean said. Source: Andrew Breitbart Dead at 43 | NBC San Diego Frum on Breitbart, which is pretty much where my opinion lies:

Instead, "they" cut taxes.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 1, 2012 -> 12:13 PM) That only left wingers get to break the rules of acting decent when someone dies? Nope you just reinforced that by excusing putting their behavior on a higher level. No, I was saying the chain doesn't exactly follow since there's a defined starting point at Breitbart. If republicans want to rejoice when some dumb lefty s***head who gloats over political opponents dying dies, have at it.
-
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 1, 2012 -> 12:09 PM) It's still idiots being idiots regardless of the color of brush you all choose to paint it with. The more you defend this type of behavior, the less I'm inclined to believe that you aren't exactly like them, DESPITE you claiming the contrary. I'm not defending the behavior, just pointing out that ss2k5's argument doesn't hold up imo.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 1, 2012 -> 12:09 PM) If you really want to play the technicalities game, Brietbart didn't contribute to anyone else's death either... That is if we are playing "Its different!" I don't think anyone's said he has?
-
Well it's still pretty basic and apolitical why the deficit keeps growing. The deficit should expand during a recession.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 1, 2012 -> 11:58 AM) Which only means they too should be targeted when they die? Its dumb. Not exactly equivalent, since the cycle was started with Breitbart being a douchebag over Kennedy's death for political reasons, not because Kennedy gloated about someone's death.
-
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 1, 2012 -> 11:38 AM) He they cut government in a lot of areas while drastically increasing deficit spending. Not sure how that worked, but he they found a way. Tax receipts fell dramatically thanks to a gigantic recession while at the same time numerous automatic stabilizers/safety nets kicked in to catch millions of people. Actual government employment is down across all levels: federal, state and local.

American blog owner Andrew Breitbart is dead. He was 43 years old, and reportedly died of “natural causes” in Los Angeles early this morning. We knew Breitbart — “we,” meaning many of us who have written for Wonkette, including young Riley Waggaman, pictured above at left — and he was a pleasant enough goofball in person. Breitbart was also a talented writer of headlines (it really is an art!) who worked anonymously for many years as Matt Drudge’s assistant on the West Coast. What he is known for today is the vile collection of websites that includes “Big Government,” and his rambling, slurring appearances on broadcast media. Breitbart leaves behind a wife and four children, along with hundreds of idiotic half-literate bloggers for his various websites who share his zeal for mindlessly attacking every non-wingnut aspect of life on Earth but lack his amiable personality. http://wonkette.com/465368/andrew-breitbar...ead#more-465368 http://shakespearessister.blogspot.com/201...-breitbart.html

QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 1, 2012 -> 10:41 AM) Hated the guy but wasn't he just on Maher like a couple of weeks ago? Wow. Too young. He was apparently on TV just last night. I would never have guessed that he was only 43.
