  1. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 2, 2012 -> 03:19 PM) A mistake by MLB in their testing because I never took steroids, so I have no idea how the test came up positive. Im willing to take as many other tests as necessary to prove my innocence. I probably still wouldn't believe you, but I wouldn't think you were a huge douchebag.
  2. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 2, 2012 -> 02:46 PM) The point is its entirely unnecessary to attack the collector. All he had to say was: "In order to ensure the reliability of the MLB drug program, MLB and the players association have instituted certain rules about how all samples should be handled. At trial it was shown that in this instance that protocol was not met and therefore the result was unreliable." Hes not admitting hes a cheater, hes saying due to lab error the results are unreliable, therefore even though he "failed" it doesnt matter because the test was never accurate in the first place. To take any other approach suggests that there must have been a scintilla of evidence to suggest that Braun felt he was targeted. But if he doesn't say anything, everyone assumes he really did test positive and got off on a technicality. Instead, he attacked the collector and insinuated that his results were tampered.
  3. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 2, 2012 -> 02:48 PM) That was with Cam Newton throwing to him... something tells me Jay Cutler might have passed a bit more at the goal line. It was a fail. A big, fat fail. Olsen had plenty of speed to be a nice target in a 4-wide set if Martz wanted to have a TE that blocked. He certainly would have been a better WR this year than Roy f***ing Williams. Don't get me wrong, I thought Martz was a terrible fit from day one and forcing one of the few decent offensive players out the door because you're too inflexible is awful. But Olsen's been somewhat of a bust.
  4. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 2, 2012 -> 02:27 PM) Balta, Thats why Im wondering. I would have assumed that the samples are numbered and therefore only the tester knew what sample belonged to who at first. The reason I assume this is because I also assume that the test is supposed to be blind (aka they dont know who the sample is until after the result). If that is the case, then the only people who knew the results had to be pretty high up. People in those positions generally dont risk their job over releasing confidential information. I dont know, Im just speculating. The tone of Braun's speech seemed to suggest that he believes the tester did something to him, not that the tester just made an innocent mistake in delivering the sample late in the afternoon instead of early in the morning. Hard to speculate, just seems like a mess from day 1. Braun was pretty self-righteous after the win and did a great "I'm not saying, I'm just saying" routine where he roundly impugned the collector's integrity and then finished with a statement that he wasn't accusing anyone of anything. I took it as a smug asshole who just got off on a technicality and is trying to rebuild his image by tearing down the collector's.
  5. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 2, 2012 -> 01:42 PM) Has it ever come out why Braun's name was released when it was supposed to be secret? Many people like divulging secrets. Or maybe the person who knew was a Cubs fan.
  6. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 2, 2012 -> 12:15 PM) Like the one they drafted in the 1st round 5 years ago? QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 2, 2012 -> 12:21 PM) Martz. F*ck Martz. He wasn't exactly stellar in Carolina last year, was he?
  7. Bulls***, Obama's more slick than that. It was SEAL Team 6 and/or a drone.
  8. StrangeSox replied to knightni's topic in SLaM
I liked BF when I saw it when I was 10. I don't think I've seen it since then.
  9. Apparently there's a growing conspiracy at foot that someone (OBAMA!!!) murdered Breitbart. I don't want to live on this planet anymore.
  10. QUOTE (G&T @ Mar 2, 2012 -> 09:34 AM) I would guess that the purpose of that statement is to deflect anger away from Braun and to the attorney by mocking people choosing to think independently. f*** them both. Braun won on a technicality, but he won. The collector was responding to unfairly having his character and ethics attacked by a douchebag on national media.
  11. I don't disagree with you or Balta. It's not like this statement is so much worse than anything else he's ever said.
  12. Probably. Some leftists are worried that Republicans are playing a long-game with these fights over contraceptives and that they'll win by shifting the national narrative somehow, even if they lose in the long run, but I dunno. It looks like electoral suicide to me. IIRC Rush's audience is something like 85% male.
  13. There's also the opposite ie Lowes and pulling their ads from that Muslim TLC show. But public outrage can and does have an effect. Just look at Komen eventually backtracking because of the widespread backlash.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 2, 2012 -> 01:00 PM) Meh, if his advertisers don't already know that they're advertising on a show where that kind of stuff happens, they're fools. The same was true of Beck, but he still had a precipitous loss of advertising revenue after some particularly dumb remarks and was more or less marginalized.
  15. Rush has already lost one advertiser over this.
  16. NPR's new ethics handbook is awesome: Every media organization needs to adopt this. I already noticed it yesterday during All Things Considered. They pointed out that Vitters was factually wrong on Plan B as classified by the FDA.
  17. What bracket will Illinois get the #1 seed in?!?
  18. I woke up at 3AM today and couldn't fall back asleep. Not fun already having been awake for 7 hours and it's not even 11AM.
  19. to be fair, Frum is an apostate these days for not riding the bandwagon off the cliff. \\
  20. An examination of the candidates' tax plans and their impact on the deficit:
  21. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 1, 2012 -> 07:23 PM) Stop. It places just as much blame on Obama's policies for continuing where Bush left off, only at a much more rapid pace. Then, then next guy/gal after this guy can blame him, just as the previous guy blamed the one before, etc...etc... It never ends. Because people like yourself keep repeating the same nonsense you just repeated. This is ridiculous on so many levels. Obama is not responsible for the bush tax cuts our iraq or afghanistan, which are the main deficit drivers (plus the crap economy). He is ending two of those things and taking all sorts of s*** for republicans from it. He had an unending desire for a big compromise on entitlement and tax reform, but one party has almost universally pledged never raise taxes ever. Pretending that this is an evenly two-sided problem is part of the problem.
  22. I'm not a democrat, but, yes, numerical analysis of the current tax and spending structure places a substantial majority of the deficit on Bush's policies.
  23. btw, Taibbi's piece, now there's a raging asshole.
  24. QUOTE (lostfan @ Mar 1, 2012 -> 06:03 PM) You know who Frum is though? Right? He's not exactly some DailyKos-posting liberal left wing lunatic, David Frum.
