I took it as a smug asshole who just got off on a technicality and is trying to rebuild his image by tearing down the collector's.

Some leftists are worried that Republicans are playing a long-game with these fights over contraceptives and that they'll win by shifting the national narrative somehow, even if they lose in the long run, but I dunno. It looks like electoral suicide to me. IIRC Rush's audience is something like 85% male.

There's also the opposite ie Lowes and pulling their ads from that Muslim TLC show. But public outrage can and does have an effect. Just look at Komen eventually backtracking because of the widespread backlash.
