  1. These guys make some delicious beers, but I'm not sure if they're available around here. Both the DBA and the "805" were delicious. http://www.firestonebeer.com/home.php
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 27, 2012 -> 11:02 AM) Vote early, vote often http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/la-pn-p...,0,725479.story Now a Republican PAC is encouraging Democrats to vote Santorum: http://2012.talkingpointsmemo.com/2012/02/...?ref=fpnewsfeed
  3. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Feb 27, 2012 -> 05:57 PM) Forgive my ignorance, but why the f*** are Somali pirates such a problem? Why aren't we just having the Navy sink them left and right? Theres a pretty huge area to cover and many small craft that may or may not be pirates. It isn't easy.
  4. I hope you had the decency to duplex.
  5. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 26, 2012 -> 07:27 PM) Metra to Ogilvie, 2 block walk, train, ballpark, jack off. just do that on the train, save some time.
  6. "[i don't follow NASCAR] as closely as some of the most ardent fans, but I have some friends who are NASCAR team owners." -rMoney
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 27, 2012 -> 11:23 AM) Meaningless, but it still would be one vote. You still have the right to vote in the other race if you deem your own parties race as "meaningless". Voting in both is two votes IMO. I can't see how it isn't illegal. It's not an official election, though, it's independent entities determining their candidates. I'm not sure how much the law really comes into play for primaries.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 27, 2012 -> 11:19 AM) Crossovers I can understand, voting for both is just wrong. Well the Dem caucus is meaningless this year, but that statement does implicitly endorse voting in the Republican primary.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 27, 2012 -> 11:02 AM) Vote early, vote often http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/la-pn-p...,0,725479.story I wish both parties would discourage their loyal drones from this sort of crap.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 27, 2012 -> 07:56 AM) "You can't teach speed" It's more of a proxy for acceleration and top speed, right?
  11. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Feb 26, 2012 -> 10:13 AM) It's somewhere in that ballpark. Women are something like 52% of the population.
  12. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 26, 2012 -> 08:02 AM) Public transport all the way. They are going to be trying to give away those tuesday night Sox/Royals-Indians-Twins games, yet theyw ant to charge $25 to park in the lot. That fee is beyond ridiculous. $25 to park a car when they have more than ample parking. How do you get there from lombard?
  13. Geology question for Balta: Is there is technical determination between hills, foothills and mountains? Was out in Chattanooga two weeks ago and central California coast area last week and had me wondering.
  14. QUOTE (The Baconator @ Feb 25, 2012 -> 10:04 AM) The restaurants are not going to eat that added cost of paying their servers more, they'll just raise the price of that $9 burger to $13. I think the tip is most fair: with no tip and the raised price of food, there is no disincentive for s***ty service. In that regard I think we should be so lucky to decide what tip we give. fwiw tipping is not universal in all cultures, plenty of countries do pay food service workers a decent wage and tips aren't expected but are more or less priced into the food and drinks.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 25, 2012 -> 09:05 AM) So I am unclear here, was the waiter talking politics at work? How did the whole 99% thing come up? It is from the colleague of the giant douche, didn't say anything about the server.
  16. Jesus christ the comments on that article, supporting the bankers actions and chiding the server for thinking she is entitled to her overlord's money for service.
  17. Well, there have been several studies recently finding that immense wealth leads to decreased empathy. What a piece of s***.
  18. Of course there's a profile. It's "professional baseball player, majors or minors"
  19. QUOTE (Tex @ Feb 24, 2012 -> 05:08 PM) The reporting is very simple. I would ask the on-campus police office to stop by during my conference period and explain what was going on. I have fulfilled my duties. Think about the 17 year old that was in the news last week for having sex with the Bengals adult cheerleader/ teacher. Yeah, the guy was probably having a great time. But if a teacher knew about the relationship and did not report it, they would be fired. This isn't about being cool, this is about being a responsible adult. The student can think what they want. If you are worried about hurting the feelings of a student you should not be responsible for them. You are more concerned about the minor child and what she wants. I am concerned about my legal obligations as a teacher. And you accuse me of being ridiculous? You're the one that seems to be overly concerned about the 16 year old getting laid and wanting it to continue. The Bengals cheerleader lacked an affirmative defense, so the situation is different. But I don't really have a problem with your first step.
  20. Is knowledge of an adult dating a minor but under a situation in the affirmative defense clause enough to report? I'd clarify that hypothetical myself, now being aware of the situation. Honestly, what do you think the police reaction would be if you called and reported knowledge of a 16 and an 18 yo dating? Would you report knowledge of a minor and an adult being married?
  21. He just openly said he "used to be a conservative" and essentially trashed movement conservatives who are driving their party off of a cliff. I doubt it.
  22. QUOTE (Tex @ Feb 24, 2012 -> 04:24 PM) You guys want to be attorneys and cops. I want to be a teacher. You guys want to risk your careers. I don't. You guys are experts on the law in Texas when an adult dates a minor. I am not. I risk nothing by reporting. I risk be accused of covering up an illegal relationship. I would say that rape, even statutory rape, would be abuse and I would report it. You guys are willing to bet your careers that you know the law. I am not that confident in my abilities as a lawyer. Would you report a 16 year old and an 18 year old who are married? And actually I've taken the position that I'd want to discuss this with administrators, police and prosecutors to determine if 16/18 sexual contact is a crime that should be reported.
  23. Hey man, I was trying to give you an out for saying that it's a very good movie.
