  1. And...we are a go! Put a 50% deposit down last night. Here is the design:
  2. Yeah, they aren't the best at anything really, but they are incredibly well-balanced. They do everything pretty darned well. Including having a damned good manager.
  3. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Oct 14, 2016 -> 02:18 PM) Screaming we're all screwed doesn't accomplish much. There are things we can do, but we have to swallow the fact there is going to be some financial pain for us to build a better future for our kids and the next generation. That being said, the terrible leaders we keep electing will likely do nothing with this "financial pain", and possibly even make things worse than they are today. This is what happens when you elect incompetent people. Ultimately, we have to ask, does suffering this financial pain in the short term actually equate to anything? Or do they squander it and skim money off of it like Chicago did, which took one of the highest overall tax rates (when you combine property, sales, sticker costs, fees, etc.) and squandered it all to the point the City ended up with nothing but a nice lakefront and loads of debt they can't (or won't) repay? If we want to fix this, we have to start by electing competent leaders -- and there are probably less than 10 of them (combined) in the entire House/Senate at this point -- and then start gutting the system as we know it. Raising taxes with the current idiots we have running the country will likely write a law filled with pork and squander every penny of that money before it reaches the system it was meant to fix. f*** it, you're right. We're all screwed. Because I have NO faith the American voters will start electing competent politicians anytime soon. The problem is the politicians don't feel like they can stay in office by enacting these changes, because their terms aren't long enough to see the positive impacts of the temporary pain. It isn't unlike a GM who trades away his farm system because he needs to win now to keep his job.
  4. Got the proposal this evening. We'll probably negotiate a bit, but it sounds like it's a go. And it should be done by Thanksgiving!
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 13, 2016 -> 03:54 PM) Trump is creepy and unqualified and probably a pervert, but I really think the comments to the really young girls were in jest. Just some guy pushing 50 who wanted the world to know he would be dating 18 year olds. There is plenty of other info to rip him to shreds. I really don't think these particular events were a big deal. I agree Dick, and was going to post the same, but then I figured, hmmm...this will just come back to bite me in the ass when something comes out showing he actually did something with an underage woman.
  6. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Oct 13, 2016 -> 03:51 PM) Would you get the fences with it? Yep. Both for ball containment as well as to keep the pooches out.
  7. Went and saw a court today similar to what I am looking for. Was very impressed. Thing was awesome.
  8. To Greg's point, I am mildly surprised at how little talk there has been about Bill being in the White House as the first man and as a former President.
  9. All I know is, if you are Rick Hahn and you are watching this Cubs team in the postseason, it is pretty clear what the task ahead of you is...and that is not add more old players, btw.
  10. QUOTE (raBBit @ Oct 11, 2016 -> 08:16 PM) When Arrieta went deep yesterday I thought it was over. I am hoping to see this one come back to Chicago... Will be a hell of a game.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 11, 2016 -> 06:33 PM) Heck of a play, definitely safe I had no idea Baez was this kind of defender.
  12. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Oct 11, 2016 -> 05:22 PM) He had said in a few posts Jackie Bradley Jr and Eduardo Rodriguez. I actually really like Rodriguez. I haven't seen Kopech, or some of the other arms being discussed, but I do think he is a kid that could be a #2-3 and slot right in behind Rodon, should we trade one of Sale/Q. JBJ, I can see the value, and adding defensive value seems to be something that is a bit more predictable than offense (particularly for us), but I agree with those that would rather see the return be more prospect-based.
  13. Met with the guys from Sports Court tonight. Looking at doing something in the range of '75-80 x '55, which would allow for full court basketball. They are going to have me meet them at a court in the area tomorrow that is of similar dimensions, so I can get a sense of the dimensions/size. Pretty fired up about this! Might have a completed court in the backyard in time for Thanksgiving!
  14. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Oct 11, 2016 -> 03:56 PM) I don't even want an "established veteran" from Boston. I'm more than fine with Sale/Robertson for Benintendi/Groome/Kopech + a couple other pieces. Needing an established veteran back rather than 5 very good prospects just screams "we want to trade Sale but still compete in 2017" which, to me, sounds horrible. I think it is more a fear of looking like fools if none of the prospects turn into much.
  15. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 11, 2016 -> 01:52 PM) Not that anyone will ever know, but I'm fairly certain it doesn't work that way. My experience is you pay taxes on ALL income. Unless you already lost $30,000 this year. Right. So you can write off gambling losses against gambling winnings...so basically to prove you had no long-term gains. The Vegas casinos typically require you to sign tax forms for winnings of $10k or more, I believe. Is Bovada technically illegal still? If so, I'm not sure how much good it would do you to pay taxes on income related to an illegal act.
  16. My wife is from Cleveland and so obviously is an Indians fan. I will admit I ordered a couple of "Party at Napoli's" shirts from 108 stitches.
  17. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Oct 11, 2016 -> 12:23 PM) Initial bet was $2,000 money line on the Giants, it was at -135 to start, so $2,000 to win $1481.84 When it was 3-0, the line was +1200 for the Giants. I was on tilt and bet another $2,000 because I just didn't believe they would go quietly. So that bet was $2,000 to win $24,000. All in all I made $29,481.84 Wow! That is incredible. Now be careful!
  18. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Oct 11, 2016 -> 06:35 AM) I got lucky man. Anyone who tells you they know the outcome of a game is just full of s***. What odds did you get at 3-0? That's some major stones to bet $2k at that point. Sure looked like they were dead and buried.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 10, 2016 -> 07:16 PM) Bumgarner has nothing tonight of course Yeah, he looks pretty pedestrian.
  20. QUOTE (Boogua @ Oct 10, 2016 -> 08:24 AM) Agreed. That's a game they likely win with Cutler. If the Bears are going to actively tank Hoyer needs to start from here on out. Hah, I'm not sure if this was intentional or not, but I got quite a kick out of it.
  21. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 10, 2016 -> 07:22 AM) Marc Trestman fired by the Ravens as OC. Talking what if's with my buddy, what if the Bears had hired Arians instead of Trestman? And drafted Mercilus instead of McClellin? Sigh... I wanted Arians badly. I think if Emery hires Arians instead of Trestman, he is quite likely still our GM.
  22. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Oct 10, 2016 -> 01:00 PM) Huh? Without huge losses how would he not pay income tax? Warren Buffet paid: http://www.forbes.com/sites/kellyphillipse...2/#1d9dac00491d Do you think that Warren Buffet doesn't follow basic accounting laws? That tax bill for Warren Buffet is pretty humorous....that would be like me paying a quarter.
  23. Pence is once again proud to stand with Donald.
