  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 11, 2016 -> 04:24 PM) The announcer in the Seahawks/Dolphins game yelling about how the winning touchdown was coming back because of an incredibly clear pick play that the refs were all over, then immediately changing his tune to "no penalty" when the flag was revealed to be something else was really remarkable. Mr. Dan Fouts, everyone!
  2. This is nothing groundbreaking, but it has everything to do with the lesser of two evils. If given the choice between someone I have a general dislike and distaste for, and someone who I genuinely fear causing WWIII, I'll choose the former every day and twice on Sunday. That said, I can barely stomach the state of American politics these days and avoid them at all costs.
  3. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 8, 2016 -> 11:15 AM) Behind scenes, NBC execs concede Matt Lauer forum performance was "disaster" I don't really know what the guy is supposed to do. Trump has been refusing to answer questions for a year now; what is Matt Lauer going to do to change that? He simply ignores questions and spews a bunch of general nonsense, often times on a completely different subject matter. Trying to interrupt him or hold him to answer the question at hand would simply result in an awkward and uncomfortable mess.
  4. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 8, 2016 -> 06:20 AM) You might be able to get a replacement card, but my guess is you're SOL on the sticker and you'll get charged again. They'd have no real way of knowing if you just stuck that sticker on another car and claimed to have lost it. I interpreted his post as he only lost the card, not the sticker.
  5. QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Sep 7, 2016 -> 05:53 PM) I think they intended to compete but sure didn't spend like it last offseason. I honestly believe even Hahn knew that the signings were destined for failure but he was likely given a hard cap on what he could spend. Do you think Hahn would have settled for guys like Latos, Rollins and Jackson if he was given a larger budget? That's why I have been saying that if they want to compete next year JR has to be willing to increase the payroll. They won't be able to compete otherwise. Ok. I just don't have great expectations that will happen.
  6. I don't know you well, but I know you, and I know that you are a wonderful father not only to your children but to others as well. You obviously understand the importance of providing love and care for those who look up to you or are in need of those things. Continue doing what you're doing, Kyle. I'm certain your father is very proud of you. My thoughts are with you and your family.
  7. QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Sep 7, 2016 -> 05:24 PM) I would hope so if they are planning to compete. I don't consider signing 2 over the hill catchers and rapidly declining CF and SP as addressing those holes. Give me guys that aren't on a rapid decline in the prior year(s). So it is your belief that we were not intending to compete this year?
  8. QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Sep 7, 2016 -> 05:10 PM) Did we really? Yes...we signed not 1 but a platoon of catchers. We signed a center fielder. Brought back Matt Albers. Do you really think we'll address those positions with more vigor next year?
  9. QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Sep 7, 2016 -> 04:50 PM) But WHY aren't they winning consistently? Let's keep this very simple. Remove our 3-headed monster filling out the fifth starter spot (Ranaudo/Shields/Danks) and this team is 60-53. That's without even addressing the GLARING holes at catcher, center field, and middle bullpen. But we tried to address those holes last offseason and what happened?
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 7, 2016 -> 04:40 PM) That is pretty short sided. If Abreu had been like this all year, half the bullpen wouldn't be in White Sox uniforms. Shields and Ranaudo wouldn't be given the leashes they have been given. It is a totally different situation. But you are going to get your wish. But Abreu could never hit like this all year...he's been hitting like 2000 Barry Bonds over the past month and we STILL aren't exactly tearing it up.
  11. QUOTE (raBBit @ Sep 7, 2016 -> 04:32 PM) I have misplaced my car's registration. My license plate sticker expired in July and I went to the DMV, bought the stick and misplaced the registration ID card. I have googled around and the DMV's site sucks (shocking, I know). Before I waste my life at the DMV, I wanted to make sure that I can actually get a replacement upon going there. If anyone has any info/experience on this I would appreciate it. Illinois DMV Brian, It appears you have to contact the Illinois Secretary of State's Office. I think you can submit this form? I checked the FAQs, and it appears here is the answer they provide: How do I apply for a duplicate registration card? Submit a completed Application for Vehicle Transaction(s) (VSD 190) to: Secretary of State Vehicle Services Department 501 S. Second St., Rm. 011 Springfield, IL 62756 You may also visit your local Secretary of State facility. The fee for a duplicate registration card is $3.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 7, 2016 -> 04:36 PM) It isn't going to work with the defense and offense where it is at. But that does mean that if we subtract them what we get back not only has to cover what we lose in Sale or Quintana, it has to eventually exceed it, otherwise nothing is gained, or in fact it will make things worse. Well sure - I don't think anyone is in favor of subtraction by... subtraction I think it does show that creating a winning ball club isn't just a matter of developing a few core players, but of understanding how to assemble a full team. If there is any real criticism of Kenny's that I have ever bought into, it is this one. Interestingly enough, it is very rarely articulated.
  13. QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Sep 7, 2016 -> 03:56 PM) This offense sure looks a lot better when Jose is hitting like Jose. He has a good chance of ending with 100+ RBI once again and average over .300. He will probably fall just short of 30 homers again though. Nevertheless, very encouraging sign if they do give retooling a try for next season. Jose putting up an OPS of 900+ makes the entire lineup better. Someone touched on this the other day and I have touched on it in previous weeks...so as of now Abreu is raking and Sale and Q are both pitching fairly close to what we would expect from them....and yet...WE ARE STILL NOT WINNING consistently. Who cares what things might "look" like. There is proof that even with these guys clicking, we still cannot win consistently. This simply is not working.

    Job Thread

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 5, 2016 -> 11:09 AM) Are you getting the job? Have you been waiting long since that call asking how you thought things went? At this point, I would guess no. Not sure what that follow-up call was all about. I keep thinking I should check in with them to see where things are, but then I realize maybe I don't really want the job as much as I initially thought I did...
  15. Let us know if there is anything we can do, bud.
  16. Ok, so the edger was a great success. I did run out of juice, but it was also about 2 months worth of edging/trimming, so I suspect it will be fine for weekly use. Definitely going to consider picking up the same line of blower and hedge cutter.
  17. Bought a Kobalt 40V electric trimmer/edger yesterday at Lowe's. They had them marked down to $129 w/ battery and charger, which makes the tool itself basically free. I took it to the register and the little prick didn't believe the price, and charged me $149. Since there was a line forming, I said, I'll just pay rather than argue with you. So I paid, and then went back and took the picture of the marked down price and went to customer service. The manager on duty marked it down and gave me an additional 10% off for my troubles. Excited to use it this morning. Have been mowing for the last month and a half or so, but didn't have the edger so it's starting to get scrappy looking. If I like this tool, I'll move into some of the other Kobalt 40V tools, particularly the blower and the hedger. I have these tools in corded versions, but with the size of my property they are fairly useless. Thus far I've invested about $725 in tools to care for the lawn. I've avoided two months of landscaping payments for a total of $650, so these things are paying for themselves very quickly.

    Labor Day Weekend

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 3, 2016 -> 07:30 PM) I have plans now. We went ahead and adopted this little gal today. Looks like you'll have your hands full, alright
  19. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 1, 2016 -> 05:13 AM) Yup, that's something I came to realize over the past 10-15 years. Despite all the stereotypes of Wrigley, the baseball experience is so much better at Wrigley than at the Cell. Fans just pay more attention to the game and are more into the big moments. And it's not just because they are good now, I've seen it during the down years too. Uhhh
  20. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 30, 2016 -> 02:40 PM) One Viking player said his leg snapped and his knee was flailing around....players were throwing up on the field. I've seen a dislocated knee in person before...it's f***ing disgusting.
  21. My parents have a similar issue on their GMC Yukon right now...I guess it is a problem with the belt, not the freon. The estimate they got was right around $1200 as well. They haven't gotten it fixed yet.
  22. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 28, 2016 -> 07:55 PM) I can't argue with anything you say shack. It just seems like the type of rotation you see get hot in the playoffs and win it all. Maybe a couple home run hitters start feeling it to get those couple of runs needed. Or Kluber/Carrasco/Salazar win every game 2-0 like you said. Just get there for once! Yeah, I hear you...the potential is definitely there. One of these years it might just be bound to happen!
  23. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 28, 2016 -> 05:57 PM) I'll say it again. Can somebody please get the Sox in the playoffs so we can see Sale/Q/Rodon in a short series? The playoffs would be the easy part,:getting there is a b****. People always say this, but I don't quite get why it would be somehow easier to win a playoff series with these starters when we can't seem to win regular series. I tend to think we would lose 2-1 or 3-2 when Q pitches just like we do in the regular season.
  24. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 26, 2016 -> 03:44 PM) I just don't see much leverage Bosa can get by playing in Canada. The Chargers don't want to pay him a certain amount, and he is gonna go play for less in Canada. And if he gets hurt, he does nothing but lower his earning power. That and it isn't like he's fooling anyone in the NFL like he's going to stay there or something. This isn't the USFL where they can offer him money on par with NFL teams.
