QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 01:44 PM) The question for Melo is how much money is enough. At this point its generational wealth, he already has made enough money that hed have to go out of his way to spend it all. I remember this argument with Buehrle...don't want to get into it again

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 01:33 PM) I think its a difference of approximately 4%. So 4% of 10mil = 400k per year, over 5 years is $2mil. Not really way cheaper. That being said, the NY cost of living is a lot higher than Chicago. So $20mil in Chicago, goes further than $20mil in NY. Does Carmelo actually do endorsements in NY? That could potentially counter some of the cost of living stuff.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 11:08 AM) If Boozer is Amnesthetized, his contract does not count at all against the salary cap for this year. He could not be used in a sign and trade at all. The Bulls would pay him whatever on his contract is not picked up by another team and that would be the end of it. There is no way to do both an amnesty and a sign and trade. I always see this and think anesthetized

QUOTE (Chi Town Sox @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 09:06 AM) Anybody ever have to negotiate a vacation period soon after you start a job? I am pretty far along in a process and in exactly 58 days leave for a 12 day honeymoon. Tell them before or after a possible job offer? I think since it is your honeymoon they will do whatever they can within reason to accommodate you.

Wow, good for LeBron. I think this was just an awesome way to handle it.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 06:09 PM) What body parts in specific are you interested in? His penis

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 07:42 PM) You guys can be mad and complain all you want, but it's wasted energy. The man just signed an extension. The front office obviously loves him. It's why I don't get worked up. Accept it. He's the skipper for a long time to come, now get him some TALENT to work with (along with Eaton, Abreu, Lexi, Conor, Sale, Q, Danks and maybe A. Garcia) of course. Why don't you come up with some original material.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 01:56 PM) Q.......9 up 9 down And I must add, Ventura is managing wonderfully thus far.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 07:55 AM) Huge news!! Excited to see how quickly he moves through the system. I'd put him in the pen tonight

While I criticize Robin for his failure to utilize common sense (and apparently he doesn't always disagree, as he changes his decisions from one game to the next), I am not so high-minded to claim I can accurately predict how many games he has directly caused us to lose. He certainly has a knack for getting in our way when we're trying to win, however.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 07:57 PM) He just got an extention. Break out the jack. Plenty of coaches have been fired the year after they received an extension.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 07:56 PM) Never said that, but if you read gamethreads, there are very few games the Sox should lose, even with all the players on the roster who need to go away.130 wins is conservative. There apparently are some of the greatest baseball minds of all time on this board. I beckon you to remember this sudden humility you've discovered in the future.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 07:52 PM) So Robin has directly lost only 5 games for them? I'm not sure, I black them out like a bad night at the blackjack table
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 07:53 PM) Maybe you should start. The odds of that are directly related to Robin continuing to be our manager.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 07:52 PM) I am sure the players are as smart as you and know they didn't choke. Dumb Robin just struck as usual. This is a 130 win team with a message board poster making decisions. Well then none of us knows jack s*** and our opinions mean nothing. May as well shut down the site.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 07:46 PM) I agree. I also think their coach is quite a bit more skilled than Spoelstra. Oh right, blame it on Spoelstra now. I didn't see you patting him on the back when they won two championships.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 07:50 PM) I never said you did, but apparently you can't handle your pops. I don't drink during the week.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 07:48 PM) So winning some but also losing more? Kind of like what they are doing now? Because winning more than this and they are in contention. No, winning about 5 more games and feeling good about themselves and learning to win in general. I have no illusions about them winning anything important this year. It's a development year. These choke jobs are doing nothing to further those objectives.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 07:47 PM) I would have at least not chuckled at everyone of your ridiculous posts in this thread had you commented BEFORE the bullpen started imploding. I could care less what you do, Dick. I was sitting on my couch enjoying my evening. Then Captain Dumbs*** ruined my goddamn evening. I don't post for your benefit, trust me.
-
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 07:43 PM) Whoever is blaming RV on this loss is delusional. Of course you take out Sale at 108 pitches with 2 outs in the 8th. Petricka is our best arm out of the pen so far this season and he just had an off night, same with Guerra. Bullpen blew the game tonight, not RV. Please tell me why you don't pull him immediately after he gave up the hit then?
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 07:40 PM) Prior to tonight, Petricka hadn't given up a run his last 8 outings, and Guerra had not given up a run his last 12 appearances. Yeah, I get it. Someone has to get outs. I've conceded that. But no need to bring anyone in there. There is no escaping that.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 07:39 PM) Lol. The manager has no bearing on that whatsoever. But seriously, this team is contending with Manny Acta. I'm not worried about contention. I want to see a young team learn how to win together. Robin gets in the way of that.
-
QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 07:39 PM) Maybe in Chicago. It was 86 degrees in Boston when the game started. I'm talking at the end of the game.
-
QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 07:38 PM) It's hard to find fans who think they have a good manager. We're not unique. Especially when it comes to pitching, where the bad ones still succeed more than they fail, every failure stands out while successes are the assumed norm. I rarely, if ever, criticized Ozzie's management of the pitching staff. Other ridiculous s*** he did, sure. But he actually knew his pitchers.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 07:36 PM) This team with really only 4 or 5 good players including 2 pitchers only wins in spite of the manager, but ALWAYS loses because of him. Seriously dude, you're not exactly Mr Objective either. You suck on the teet because of whomever your "source" is.
