When I got the 70", I realized I needed a new sound system too...did some research on best bang for your buck, and ended up picking up a Sony receiver on sale, two Klipsch floorstanding speakers that were on sale (apparently because they were in a cherry finish, the other finishes were not on sale), and an Energy sub. Couldn't be happier with the setup. I wanted something that wasn't overly complicated, but that packed a little more punch than an all-in-one box system or a soundbar. Very solid for both movies and music.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 22, 2013 -> 02:12 PM) If you're watching the games on CBS's site you can log on with your local provider and see OAuth converted into SAML then an authentication in your providers user store then back to SAML and back with an OAuth authorization token. This all happens in about 2 seconds. Cool s*** for nerds like me. Yeah, you are a nerd.

QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 21, 2013 -> 09:52 AM) He'll also be a candidate for HC position for the rest of his life. Ugh...that would be worse than Ditka's soundbytes

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Mar 21, 2013 -> 09:22 AM) Great point, it happened with Jordan, Thomas and now Urlacher. This will all be forgotten eventually...he'll come back in a few years, and everyone will remember the good moments.
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 21, 2013 -> 06:49 AM) Brian Urlacher didn't suck two years ago. He's been on the decline for several years now...he did have a nice season mixed in there, but it was pretty clear before 2012 that he was on a rather steep decline. The fact that he was your hero growing up doesn't change that fact.
-
I seem to remember pointing out that Urlacher sucked a year or two ago and that Briggs was much more important to this defense...and getting absolutely bashed for it...is this sour grapes or do people finally see that this guy has been overrated since about 2008?

John Danks surgery/rehab/recovery thread

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 20, 2013 -> 08:19 AM) Personally, I wanted them to trade Danks prior to 2011 and then at the deadline too, but Williams found it imperative to have him and resign him. It was Williams' last mistake. Still, our very own physical therapist has basically said that this is not something that is going to ultimately ruin his arm and that he will (should) eventually find his stuff again. I just can't be overly concerned at this point. I think it was more indicative of his value on the market than any desire of KW's to keep him around...although his left-handedness and perceived durability probably made a bit more comfortable signing him to a long-term deal. -
Mounted the 70-inch tv on Saturday...very pleased with it thus far...although I can't get it to pick up my internet for whatever reason...but I can't really see that being a big issue since I probably wouldn't even know what to use the internet for. I guess this is an old moment.

I'm expecting Dubya to pop out onto the balcony with a sixer and say "fool me once, shame on me, fool me twice...umm, we can't get fooled again!"

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 6, 2013 -> 12:06 PM) I had a credit card (Citi) get closed in Feb. after someone used it in Vegas. I just assumed it was Shack. I would only do that to Wite or Kyyle...

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 4, 2013 -> 02:13 PM) In other words it will sound like B&B? Cowherd is a more tolerable version of Bernstein, I suppose...he does rub me the wrong way sometimes in terms of how oversimplified he thinks he can break down entire sports at times, but not quite with the level of condescension that Bernstein offers provides.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 4, 2013 -> 02:59 PM) Still, syndicating a midday slot is extremely lazy programming in a top market Yeah, have fun with Mr. Know-It-All...Cowherd is amongst the more unique sports radio guys, and I admire him for that, but the logic and reasoning for his arguments is pretty ridiculous at times.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 25, 2013 -> 02:40 PM) We just bought a place and will be fixing up our kitchen a bit. Timing of this was helpful. Close escrow in 40 days Congrats!!

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Feb 24, 2013 -> 07:52 PM) My fam wants to upgrade for the basement, and that's the TV they're looking at, curious to hear your feedback. Unfortunately, it doesn't arrive until March 11, because I also ordered a fridge and dishwasher and that is the first date they can ship all three together. But as soon as I get it up and have a few days with it, I will post my thoughts...

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 24, 2013 -> 01:47 PM) 240 hz? Let me know how you like it with sports. When I move to a bigger place I am going to have either another living room, media room or basement and I will have to upgrade to something like this. Yeah...that's pretty solid for an LCD...these aren't as high quality as some of the smaller Panasonic and Pioneer plasmas available, but this is about as good as it gets unless you want to go into the $5-10k range.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 24, 2013 -> 01:36 PM) Link of the TV please? Best Buy It's the 70-inch Sharp for $2,599.99...

Just popped for the 70-inch Sharp LCD...my birthday present to myself Ordered a fairly expensive mount from Amazon (no way I am going to mount this sucker on a $40 mount). Going to put it above my brick gas fireplace that I have not used once since moving in here 18 months ago. Yay me!

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Feb 23, 2013 -> 01:18 PM) Hey! I can't find my earlier Vegas thread, so might as well ask you here. I have a friend who keeps raving about a place called Whisky Dicks out there. Comments? Never been, but it looks like it has the sort of vibe you are going for...but looks like it's a good 15 minutes off the Strip...

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Feb 23, 2013 -> 12:02 PM) If anyone goes and wants to say hi, I will be wearing a brown tshirt with the Help Save Pets logo on the front, and playing. We had more than enough volunteers that I didn't have to work the event beyond helping to organize it. I will also have with me a few printouts of the email that gets you the extra chip for multi table tournaments in case you couldn't find it on the website and print it out. Thanks in advance for anyone who shows up. Let me know if you enjoyed it and how you did! I am off to play in the Chicago Poker Classic at Horseshoe today for a warmup. Good luck, AD!

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Feb 21, 2013 -> 10:50 AM) Not sure of your skill level, but tips for beginners: 1) An ace with a nine or worse is a very weak hand and novices lost a lot of chips playing such hands 2) Suited cards are overrated. Don't play hands just because they are suited, and if you have good cards that happen to be suited don't blow a lot of chips chasing flushes. 3) Bet/raise with strong hands rather than just checking/calling Yeah, I understand the basics pretty well...I'm just not as good as many of the folks here in Vegas...of course, a lot of them are pros...
