QUOTE (Tex @ Dec 1, 2011 -> 10:26 AM) I did listen to it. Will you edit a sound file to see how easy it is to do? It is easier than Photoshop by about 500%. Not even close. So you're saying this guy edited this tape in 2003, before he gave it to ESPN?

QUOTE (Tex @ Dec 1, 2011 -> 10:22 AM) Just download a copy of Audacity, a free program and any sound file. Cut and pasting just like text. Super easy. I was a former golf course janitor and can edit audio files without any problem at all. Anyone who can use a computer can do it. Come on, Tex...it's not that easy...the conversation flows perfectly on the tape...this isn't like a bunch of random sentences placed together and recorded. Will you please just go listen to it before you insist on this editing angle?
-
Tex, I'd put the kid in goal. If he's a great athlete, let him play goalie. He can't screw up your team chemistry from there.

Amazing to me that no one seemed interested in Martinez. I wonder if there is something known about him within the industry that we just aren't aware of...
-
Just listen to the phone call...the same tape of the phone call that he gave to ESPN in 2003, mind you.

Now imagine all the horrible testimony that has come from these sort of experiences... Frightening.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 30, 2011 -> 04:28 PM) I agree that it could be edited and parts erased and things arranged to make it look more heinous than it would appear, but there are a lot of very direct statements and replies in that recording that are extremely specific about what she knows happened. Such as her statements about wanting the dick...it's pretty clear what was being discussed here.

QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 30, 2011 -> 01:23 PM) I think they were referring to his remarks on sunday where he was contrite for implying that this accuser was doing it for the money. But then he comes out with his arrogance showcase last night. Ahh, I think you're right. I was wondering what about his statements last night they found to be so outstanding.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 29, 2011 -> 09:02 PM) Didn't both forte and barber average over 5 ypc sunday? Yep, but Forte's statistics were very deceiving. He busted the one long run and that brought up his average. Usually that's not a huge issue, as you are willing to wait for the long run, but with Forte, he takes a ton of runs for losses as well as a lot of 1 and 2 yard gains. When you have a backup qb playing, and the defense is keying on your run game, that doesn't put you in manageable 3rd down situations. With Cutler, you can still make a lot of those 3rd down and 7's or 8's. With Hanie, it is much more difficult. -
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Nov 30, 2011 -> 01:03 PM) This. I don't necessarily believe he should be gone because of the accusations because the I think the situation is different than Paterno/PSU BUT...as said above, his statements and reactions have been tremendously insensitive and pretty callous. He's handled this situation is a classless manner and as the face of a program (university?) he is not making a good case to be kept around. The University actually came out and said they were very pleased with what he said, which I found to be quite surprising.

I don't understand the statement either. It just seems really odd...as if he knows something is going to be found which will show that he had absolutely no idea this was going on...except, I can't imagine what that might be. I loved hearing Cowherd backtrack yesterday. For a full week, he ripped apart anyone who had any knowledge that a sex abuse crime against a minor might be occurring and did not report it...and now yesterday he is explaining to us how ESPN is not the police and ''do you know how hard it is to get the police to investigate something"? It was truly ridiculous. The guy openly talks about how he talks for a living and argues for a living, and yet, his arguments are weak and flawed time and again.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 30, 2011 -> 10:50 AM) Haha, I get it. I just never understood shortening typed things. It takes like a half second to type the whole name. I've just always said Mark. There was never any other Mark on our team worthy of talking about... -
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 30, 2011 -> 10:26 AM) Agreed. And your avatar is strangely not arousing. I feel like that girl would kick my ass, and it scares me. You must be frightened quite often...

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 30, 2011 -> 08:48 AM) IMO, the key guy on rebuilding is Matty. If Danks and Quentin are moved but mark comes back, that's still a competitive team. Moving Matty means move everyone; that's the move where your team starts getting worse next year and has to break in and develop a kid to replace him...and even in the pen, developing a kid is a multi year commitment. I don't agree, simply because Matt is the elephant in the room right now...rebuild or no rebuild, if you need to start cutting salary, the $6 million reliever is low hanging fruit... -
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Nov 29, 2011 -> 06:03 PM) That would make Ramirez one of the most valuable trade commodities in MLB. I can't see him being worth this much realistically...he's a valuable player, but he's not someone that puts up huge offensive numbers, nor is he someone that fans are really all that aware of. I could see him bringing back a few nice prospects, but nothing like the haul the Rockies got for UJ...

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 29, 2011 -> 03:31 PM) $75 million in garbage still doesn't mean anything. I just don't see how they contend by cutting payroll into that range. Unless of course you pull off some great deals and get major league ready talent that pans out instantly (which could happen). Thats why I think the question really is what market is out there. If Kenny can buy and put together a team with a chance, than he does it. If he can't, than regardless of the payroll, you need to rebuild, imo. Whether that is what they actually do or not, well thats a whole nother story. Oh I agree...it does them no good to have a payroll of $75-90 million and completely suck, when they could have a payroll of $110 million and probably have a fighting chance... I can't see them rebuilding. Trimming the fat, yes. Blowing it up, no. They couldn't if they tried.

I actually like Martz. I think our offense has taken major strides this year, and I'd like to continue to see some of the guys work at it. Yes, he outsmarts himself at times, and he is slow to adjust when Jay is getting creamed, but he has been awfully good this year IMO, outside of the Saints game. As for the Forte love...HE CANNOT RUN BETWEEN THE TACKLES...teams know this and are defending the edges better. He is a great runner when he has a dominant run-blocking OLine, and he is an outstanding pass receiver, but running Matt Forte 25 times a game, with Chris Williams out for the year, is not going to do much of anything other than average about 2 yards a carry. Hasn't this been obvious the past 3 games? We need to throw more screens to Forte and use Barber as our between the tackles runner, and mix it up just enough so that they can't identify the play based on the personnel in the huddle. -
I bought a Bosch drill at Lowe's. My first power tool. How exciting. Funny thing is, I had no idea you could get a pretty decent one for only $100. My stepdad gave me s*** about buying German over the American DeWalt product, but I told him it was better for America to live up to the free market principles rather than some propped-up "buy American" standard.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Nov 29, 2011 -> 01:12 PM) I think they clinched it around week 5. To be honest, I think they clinched it the week the Bears beat the Lions. At that point, everyone in the division other than the Packers had three losses. Huge game for the Bears this week. I know all of them are huge at this point, but I think it's key to get Hanie some confidence, get a win under his belt, so he knows he can win playing QB in this League. That will set up the matchup of the century against the Almighty Tebow... -
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 29, 2011 -> 01:47 PM) And it than begs the question, should Alexei be available. The Sox do have a lot of valuable assets. The problem is they have three of the worse contracts in baseball and a weak farm system that has ultimately cost them the playoffs the past couple of seasons. I still contend that most of you guys are on the wrong track here. You've got $75 million or so committed to the payroll, basically, no matter what you do, correct? It'll be a cold day in hell when you dump all your meaningful players to keep a $75 million payroll for a horrendous team. They're going to trim the payroll to a reasonable level. That may mean trading some of the key performers, simply because you've really got nowhere else to trim salary. That does not mean, however, that they're going to completely rebuild.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Nov 29, 2011 -> 12:27 PM) I was told by many here that there would be a line of suitors for Thornton. What gives? They could obviously move him if it was just an issue of trading him and getting him off the books. The question is what do they want for him?

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 29, 2011 -> 09:14 AM) Say the Lions totally crash and burn down the stretch and go 0-fer. Does Schwartz go on the hotseat next season? Or even this offseason? Nah...they've made pretty good progress as an organization with Schwartz as the head coach...they're not going to fire him because they ran out of gas and hit a tough part of their schedule towards the end of the year. They've had too many seasons of losing to give up on Schwartz now, who has seemingly turned that around finally (obviously with the help of some great young players) to give up on him so quickly. -

Back on the saddle with P90X for a month to get back in shape enough to do P90X2, which should be here in 4 weeks.
