  1. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 01:55 PM) My point is that you're claimign some "inherent right" to be able to do what you want. This cleary isn't true, either individual actions, or nation actions. "There are rules man, this ain't Vietnam." And it is for the good fo the whole. Not having a nation hell bent on killing all of the Jews is a good thing, I dunno how anyone can dispute this. As is not having ANY nuclear weapons. But in this world I'd rather have the US have them than anyone else. I'm not claiming any inherent right to do anything. I'm laughing at everyone trying to justify why the US and the it's few handpicked allies should be allowed to have the biggest toy in the sandbox. Just admit it, you can't stop us, and we can stop you. You keep trying to justify having the bomb from your Western perspective and US educated and cultured opinion. Do you really think that everything is that cut and dry? That we come down on the side of right on every issue? That you aren't being manipulated or misled into believing some of what you believe in?
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 01:50 PM) Frankly, yes, if I was a citizen of some random European country, I would have zero desire to have my government developing nuclear weapons for any reason, and I would find there to be a huge benefit to simply outsourcing my nuclear security to another nation or set of nations through treaty obligations. That way, my nation doesn't have to invest huge resources into developing the weapons (resources which could be put into civilian programs or lower tax rates), my nation doesn't have to worry about controlling the weapons, and my nation doesn't have its relations poisoned because other countries believe that I might be developing those weapons. And you would trust that nation not to screw it all up?
  3. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 01:46 PM) If you want to go down that logic train, man has no inherent right to dictate ANY policy to any other man. I can kill someone and you have no inherent right to tell me not to. But in civilized society, you do, because it's for the good of the whole. Just like not allowing a nation like Iran to obtain nuclear weapons is for the good of the world (and more importantly, us). Are you kidding me? This argument is great in the scheme of governing regular citizens. Do you really believe this is how nations operate amongst one another? We do whatever the f*** we want, when we want it, for the good of those in power. Not buying the "for the good of the whole" nonsense when it comes to the actions of the US Government on the world stage.
  4. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 02:46 PM) Well there is a reason why we can impose sanctions on NK and Iran, whereas China is free to do whatever they want. ie China could say "Who the f*** are you." The authority or right is: Might makes right. We can impose our will on countries because they cant stop us. And I would be much more comfortable if they just came out with this justification, rather than all the other hypocritical bs.
  5. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 02:40 PM) Because it's OUR interests. Why wouldn't OUR interests be more important than others? First of all, they are not your interests, the are the interests of the US government, so we shouldn't even use the word "our." Secondly, if we are arguing from a philosophical standpoint, you're saying that if you were on the other side of the fence, perhaps a citizen of a Finland or something, would you willingly accept that the US was dominating the discussion because it was in the interests of the US government to do so, or would you wish to argue the issue philosophically? I have a hard time accepting the answer would be the former.
  6. And I will start believing that convenient nonsense as soon as we no longer have 4,000 of them laying around.
  7. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 02:21 PM) And not against our interests, yes. What is it about "our" interests that makes them so much more important than the interests of others?
  8. I'm not talking about treaties. I'm just saying philosophically, this is hypocrisy at it's finest.
  9. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 01:59 PM) The best are hipster douchebags who get into hip-hop. Holy s*** talk about pretentious. That is probably the fastest growing demographic buying hip hip recordings over the past few years.
  10. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 01:17 PM) If they didn't have leaders calling to eradicate entire ethnicities, then I would see your point. But that's not why they're seeking nuclear technology. So if this was a nation that, in our opinion, was not bats*** crazy, we would be fine with them acquiring the bomb?
  11. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 01:03 PM) Yeah because the US has no legitimate interest in this situation. That isn't the point. The point is that the US has done whatever the hell it has wanted over the course of the last 75 years, including creating this bomb, burning fossil fuels, polluting the s*** out of anything and everything at its leisure, then when another country wants to experience the benefits of these technologies, we raise all these bs humanitarian arguments that sure as s*** never stopped us.
  12. I love the hypocrisy of the US thinking we should be able to decide who gets to play with uranium or plutonium, or whatever it is that they make nuclear weapons from, and who does not...
  13. QUOTE (farmteam @ Aug 17, 2010 -> 10:31 AM) I'll probably catch flak for the gross overgeneralization I'm about to make, but I'll do it anyway. In my experience, the "hipster/indie" type is the most elitist. I've run into way too many people that will essentially say things like, "Oh, you like stuff on the RADIO? All that stuff is crap." or will only like bands no one has heard of, or they think that identifying with some esoteric band will make them cool. I agree with this 100%. This is true of the Indie/Hipster for all forms of art. Music, movies, even clothing.

Great work, Flash! That is thin, but you will see in phases 2 and 3 that you will begin to put weight on in the form of muscle. My guess is you have dropped to pretty much as low as you will and will see a reverse trend start. Make sure you eat enough though! Your workouts will indeed suffer if you don't eat enough! Good luck and keep us all posted!
  15. Maroon 5 is my guilty pleasure band.
  16. QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Aug 13, 2010 -> 04:37 AM) Find it nonsense all you want... you can kick rocks with what you believe as far as I'm concerned, but the dude isn't great at all. Now didn't say I don't like Kayne, I mean hell he's from Chicago, but he isn't even the best rapper in Chicago, yet alone in the game today (and the game today is garbage with "MCs" and I quote that very heavily as KRS-One once said.. there is a big difference between an MC and a rapper). I'm not talking real life, I'm not talking how he is as a person (hell Micheal Jackson had his issues and I'm sure alot of us can agree he is Pop, his music was influential) but his music (and I'm talking lyrically) isn't that great, not even as good as when he first started. In fact.. I consider Kayne a sellout in alot of ways (especially trying to "get with" the genre of what the game was doing with auto-tune, and changing his overall style) in his music. Now as a producer you will never see me talk about him. IMO he is one of the biggest genius out there today (or in the last whatever years anyone wants to throw a number at) as a producer. Not alot of MCs aren't good at both. (I don't consider Dr. Dre that great either as an MC, though he is still good for what he says during his time though I'm a bit biased with him, but he is a producing genius.. one of the best ever) As a follower for a long time, growing up listening to alot of great ones, I don't see it with him as an "MC". It's weird I understand his videos more in meaning than I do lyrically in him, whereas Nas (and I'll say his name since you mentioned him) could make one of the s***test videos ever, but I can understand where he's at lyrically. And you wanna talk about him "speaking up to people.." go anywhere and you tell me who they usually name who "speaks up to them" usually... I hear Weezys name as the first mentioned. Everybody here as different opinions on different MCs. (some we all agree on, and usually they are the best/greatest) Kayne is just one of those guys I always found overrated. Wow...I don't listen to a ton of hip hop, and so I am not surprised much, but I have like, no clue what you just said there. And that's not because you didn't say something very introspective, it's just amazing to me how out of touch I am with hip hop music I guess. On another note, how pathetic is it that the Genius thingy from iTunes is recommending Justin Bieber for me?
  17. QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Aug 16, 2010 -> 07:41 PM) It was an AL team that claimed Luke Scott but they NL teams didn't get the name of the team that claimed him. It's only the big market teams doing to blocking and not the small market bottom feeders according to my source with the Phils. Small market teams are crying poor. I know for a fact that some small market teams have claimed some guys you would not expect them to have claimed... There is more money out there than you think.

QUOTE (maggliopipe @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 02:44 PM) I started this back up and I'm through the first phase now. It's good to be back on it after screwing it up the first time (scheduling, laziness). I had forgotten how much I hate Dom in plyo and Wes in kenpo. Dom because of his lazy form but, hey, he jumps high so he's supposed to be a bad ass; and Wes because of his stupid karate hands and how Tony goes out of his way to cup his balls every chance he gets. Hah, I haven't noticed the ball cupping, but that did make me laugh quite a bit. I just finally was able to start the resistance workouts again after being down for the count with back/shoulder/neck issues forever. Have been doing plyo and yoga for 3 weeks or so, but finally did chest and back today. Thank goodness. Oh P90X, how I've missed you!
  19. QUOTE (Tex @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 08:53 PM) The local rules that are given to each player prior to the tournament clearly stated they were to be played as bunkers. But yeah, that really sucked. The problem wasn't with the local rules as much it was with them claiming some patch of hardpan is suddenly a sand trap. That's equivalent to some municipality claiming their Yield signs are actually Stop signs. They can say it all they want, but if you're used to that being a Yield sign, you're going to think Yield, not Stop.
  20. QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Aug 16, 2010 -> 05:20 PM) A team had claimed Luke Scott off waivers but was pulled back by the Orioles. Trying to see if my guy knows anything about who claimed him. Ask your guy why nearly everyone is getting claimed this year? I thought no one was going to be claimed because of the economy and the incredibly desperate declines in attendance...
  21. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 16, 2010 -> 05:39 PM) Not sure if actually went without mentioning on here, but Kevin Slowey was pulled from a no-hitter yesterday. Apparently Gardenhire agrees with J4L that no-hitters don't mean s*** anymore. He was coming back from a 10 day rest which was necessary because of shoulder stiffness. Probably not a good idea to immediately have him throw 140 + pitches when he was already coming off of a slight injury before.
  22. Man oh man! You guys have no faith, no patience, no confidence, no belief whatsoever after a few rough weeks in a 5 month season... It was only 5-6 weeks ago that that very same Minnesota Twins team could hardly buy a win and we were on fire. Now it seems to me that they have pretty much the same group of guys, and we have pretty much the same group of guys...and yet, there is no way we can beat them? We're going to get swept with Danks/Floyd/Buehrle going? I understand we all have a right to be pissed, and if you guys want to argue that this Twins team is better than us for one reason or another, I'm not going to try and change your mind too badly. But I've been watching this argument evolve since late April and I really haven't seen too much that convinces me that you guys aren't just living and dying with every game and every series... This is going down to the wire...nothing is going to be settled in this series in Minnesota.
  23. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 06:34 PM) Especially when it wasn't even really defined as a bunker. No one even considered it to be a bunker prior to, or even after the shot. Not til after the hole was finished did someone come up with this possibility.
  24. To keep him out of a 3-man playoff...hit a ball out of a "waste bunker" or hardpan well off the fairway. Grounded his club in the hardpan area before hitting shot. Aftter making bogey to tie and join a playoff, Dustin Johnson gets assessed a 2-shot penalty. Ridiculous. I am absolutely flabbergasted.
  25. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 03:28 PM) Shack, we had our first diaper blowout during the bottom of the 6th...maybe it was good luck! Your son was clearly not happy with the way things were going and decided to take things into his own, umm, hands...
