QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 21, 2010 -> 08:50 AM) As nice as Werth would be, I don't think trading our best reliever makes sense. No way I move Putz...

QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jul 21, 2010 -> 07:58 AM) I've heard it said that Quentin would have too much time to think about bad at bats sitting in the dugout while DHing. And if that is indeed the case, would his offense suffer enough to justify the downgrade he is defensively when he plays instead of Jones or Kotsay?
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 21, 2010 -> 07:58 AM) Doesn't it seem though that if anything is having an impact on his offense, it's the constant bumps and bruises he's suffering from playing in the outfield? It's a small sample size, but he was great as the DH against KC. I think he gets injured no matter what he does. He probably injures himself while sleeping with his wife.

The question I inevitably ask every time this topic comes up is will there be a difference in Q's offensive performance based on whether he plays the field or not? We all know he is a horrendous OF. The question is not whether he should be playing the field, but rather, would there be an affect on his offense if he was not playing the field, and if so, what kind?

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 12:23 PM) His absolute best couldn't be Cabrera? I didn't say he was going to be, I said I think he could. That being said, It think he is likely to end up being a good average, a lot of homers, but not too many walks type of hitter. Cabrera, when all is said and done, will probably go down as one of the best hitters in modern baseball history.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 10:17 AM) If the Tigers don't make some moves, they're as good as done with the schedule they have for the next 28 days. They have 14 road games against the Yankees, Red Sox, Rays, and the Sox. Talk about the possibility of getting your ass whopped. They're also 16-29 on the road, so...good chance they're done by mid-August. I saw realized this last night. Hard to believe a team could make the postseason with such an inability to win on the road.

Umm, maybe shoot for the NHL thread with this?

Does Kenny dare to consider making this trade?

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 08:39 AM) I don't think so. If Teahen were productive and the Tigers won the division, KW would have essentially written his own death sentence as our GM. I don't think anyone considers Teahen to be this big of an X-factor, to be honest. It's not like trading Alex Gordon to the Tigers. Secondly, as far as I understand, Teahen is going to be out several more weeks still. The Tigers, if they're going to go outside the organization for a 3b, would most likely do so sooner rather than later, as Inge is only going to miss 4-6 weeks. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 08:30 AM) Which confused me, because somehow, I don't think Texas would be game for that deal. Yeah, I think he was alluding to the fact that Gordon was the player Seattle supposedly wanted for Lee.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 08:28 AM) Lee who? Carlos Lee? I'm assuming he meant Clifford.
-
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 07:08 AM) I got tired of searching for my lost Gordon shirt, so I just bought a new one last night. Over his last 28 games, Gordo is sporting a .358/.371/.612/.983 line....way to turn it around, Gordo!

Watched Brothers last night. That is one f'd up movie.

Well, the Twins did go ahead and place Morneau on the DL, bringing up Jeff Manship to help out their bullpen.

QUOTE (kev211 @ Jul 16, 2010 -> 02:54 AM) ESPN has been jumping on the White Sox bandwagon the past day or so and its freaking me out. The White Sox were the first highlights shown on the midnight sportscenter, and they were not playing the Yankees or Red Sox and that never happens. I think it probably helped that we played the Twins, but yeah, this is impossible to ignore now. 26- 5 is like a college basketball record...

Kenny was on PTI today, here is the link to the video. Kenny looks great...I don't think he looks like a guy who's ready to move on from his role as GM, as was speculated. Kenny on PTI

QUOTE (KITTYKATSWING @ Jul 16, 2010 -> 12:17 AM) nice! Welcome aboard!

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 15, 2010 -> 10:45 PM) We basically gave the Twins 6 free runs in their own ballpark and still won. Absolutely amazing how hot this team is right now, and what a job by Jenks tonight. The one thing that still hurts even though we won is the bullpen had to throw a ton of high stress pitches tonight, so it'd be nice if we can come out and win an easy one tomorrow. Still, an outstanding win overall tonight. If Gavin can continue pitching as he has of late, it very well could be.

Prettty cool that it is the 16th tomorrow and we have not lost a game yet in July... Ahh check that, we lost on July 3rd.

I was watching Ken Burns' series on baseball last night and I guess the NY Giants went 37-7 in a 44 game stretch to end the season and catch the Brooklyn Dodgers from 13 1/2 games back in 1955. So now we need to win 12-2 in our next 14 to better thir run...
-
Always good to give up 15 hits and still manage to win...
-
That's win # 50!
-
That would be NINE in a row.

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jul 15, 2010 -> 10:29 PM) 'zone him in reel him in and line him up' love hawk, but seriously what is the point of all that Does he say line him up? I always thought he said light him up...

3 more outs...
